The Four Lepers Saved the Day! There was a great famine in the land - but also a miracle. 2 Kings 6:24-29, 24 And it happened after this that Ben-Hadad king of Syria gathered all his army, and went up and besieged Samaria. 25 And there was a great famine in Samaria; and indeed they besieged it until a donkey s head was sold for eighty shekels of silver, and one-fourth of a kab of dove droppings for five shekels of silver. 26 Then, as the king of Israel was passing by on the wall, a woman cried out to him, saying, Help, my lord, O king! 27 And he said, If the LORD does not help you, where can I find help for you? From the threshing floor or from the winepress? 28 Then the king said to her, What is troubling you? And she answered, This woman said to me, Give your son, that we may eat him today, and we will eat my son tomorrow. 29 So we boiled my son, and ate him. And I said to her on the next day, Give your son, that we may eat him ; but she has hidden her son. 2 Kings 7:1-6, 1 Then Elisha said, Hear the word of the LORD. Thus says the LORD: Tomorrow about this time a seah of fine flour shall be sold for a shekel, and two seahs of barley for a shekel, at the gate of Samaria. How could Elisha say such a thing? 2 So an officer on whose hand the king leaned answered the man of God and said, Look, if the LORD would make windows in heaven, could this thing be? And he said, In fact, you shall see it with your eyes, but you shall not eat of it. 3 Now there were four leprous men at the entrance of the gate; and they said to one another, Why are we sitting here until we die? Four lepers were used to save this entire part of Israel. The least qualified, the weakest people, were used to bring in God s will and deliverance. So it is with us. God will use the weakest of us, the ones who are most broken, to overtake us with His love and character to bring in His Kingdom. 4 If we say, We will enter the city, the famine is in the city, and we shall die there. And if we sit here, we die also. Now therefore, come, let us surrender to the army of the Syrians. If they keep us alive, we shall live; and if they kill us, we shall only die. 5 And they rose at twilight to go to the camp of the Syrians; and when they had come to the outskirts of the Syrian camp, to their surprise no one was there. 6 For the LORD had caused the army of the Syrians to hear the noise of chariots and the noise of horses--the noise of a great army; so they said to one another, Look, the Sept 1-4 1

king of Israel has hired against us the kings of the Hittites and the kings of the Egyptians to attack us! When the lepers arrived at the Syrian s camp, they were all gone. Same with us. If we, as helpless lepers in our sufferings, will just to the the enemy s camp, we will find they are all gone. This kind of miracle defeats the enemy and challenges you to walk out your suffering as the lepers did, not as the people in the city did. It is called overcoming. But wait! Not only did the lepers eat, but they also shared the food with those back in the city that had cast them out. Was that God s love? 2 Kings 7:9, 10, 9 Then they said to one another, We are not doing right. This day is a day of good news, and we remain silent. If we wait until morning light, some punishment will come upon us. Now therefore, come, let us go and tell the king s household. 10 So they went and called to the gatekeepers of the city, and told them, saying, We went to the Syrian camp, and surprisingly no one was there, not a human sound-- only horses and donkeys tied, and the tents intact. How do we walk into the enemy s camp? You may be in oppressed circumstances. But you do not need to sit there until you die. My family is a witness to this. My family and I have overcome some very difficult and naturally impossible circumstances. What I proclaim here in this lesson, we have certainly seen and heard. The lepers learned that they enemy had already been defeated. It is the same with us. However when we walk into the enemy s camp we see that they are still there. But they are there as defeated enemies. We must speak to our enemies. It is called authoritative prayer. The Cross has gained victory over all of our enemies, however now it is our task to bring that victory to earth. The Four Lepers only give us a partial view. They give us a type and shadow of how the weakest of all can be used by God to show that our enemies have been defeated. Like today s overcomers the few can bring victory and deliverance to the many. However be aware that it is our responsibility now to position ourselves for effective authoritative prayer. We must position ourselves in the secret place, the hiding place of God in order to utilize authoritative prayer Psalms 91:1-3, 1 He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust. Sept 1-4 2

3 Surely He shall deliver you from the snare of the fowler And from the perilous pestilence. (All of Psalm 91 is on the last page) We need to be in touch with God so that we can know or even sense what God is already declaring to you what His will is for a particular area of your life or prayer life. When we know that something is already bound or loosed in Heaven then we can and must voice that here on earth. That is what I call authoritative prayer. In order to utilize this authority we must ourselves be under God s authority in every way! John 15:7, 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. We alone can speak to the spiritual enemies here on earth now. God gave us authority to speak here on earth on His behalf. Psalms 8:3-6, 3 When I consider Your heavens, the work of Your fingers, The moon and the stars, which You have ordained, 4 What is man that You are mindful of him, And the son of man that You visit him? 5 For You have made him a little lower than the angels, And You have crowned him with glory and honor. 6 You have made him to have dominion over the works of Your hands; You have put all things under his feet, Matthew 16:19 explains some of our responsibilities in bringing His will from Heaven to Earth. I have found that the Amplified version of the Scripture really explains it well for me. Other versions leave out what is already bound or loosed in heaven. (Matthew 16:19 AMP) 19 I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven; and whatever you bind (declare to be improper and unlawful) on earth must be what is already bound in heaven; and whatever you loose (declare lawful) on earth must be what is already loosed in heaven. Here is how we usually do authoritative prayer. We feel that there is an important issue in our lives that is contrary to God s will. We fellowship with Jesus in the Word and in prayer until we are convinced of that. Then we ask Him to give us a Scripture to pray over the situation. Sept 1-4 3

At that point we pray like this. Jesus, we feel that (name the issue) is not God s will for us (or the person we are praying for). Therefore we bind and forbid (that issue) to continue, in the name of Jesus. However we do feel that Your will is (name it) and we hereby loose (that solution) in the name of Jesus. If we have the Scripture for this issue, use that Scripture as you bind and loose. Then you will enter into the overcoming process. Sometimes the solution will come soon and often it may take months and even years. Overcoming brings the Kingdom of God..Just after Jesus taught about prayer with the Lord s Prayer He casted out a demon and with that He alerted us that we must be Overcomers! Luke 11:21-23, 21 When a strong man, fully armed, guards his own palace, his goods are in peace. 22 But when a stronger than he comes upon him and overcomes [means to prevail in a legal courtroom setting] 1 him, he takes from him all his armor in which he trusted, and divides his spoils. [Refer to Revelation 18 for confirmation of this.] 23 He who is not with Me is against Me, and he who does not gather with Me scatters. Overcoming usually involves standing on God s promises for a long time even when things look impossible. The Red Sea. That was impossible without a miracle, and Moses had to command it to part. Changing the bitter waters at Marah into sweet after the Red Sea crossing. That was impossible but Moses heard God tell him to take a certain tree, representing the Cross, and convert the waters to sweet. Abraham and Sarah having a child. Abraham raising his knife to kill Isaac after he was born. Abraham had to believe it and speak it. God ordained that the enemy lost the war even before it started. Joshua 11:18-20, Joshua made war a long time with all those kings. There was not a city that made peace with the children of Israel, except the Hivites, the inhabitants of Gibeon. All the others they took in battle. For it was of the LORD to harden their (the enemy s) hearts, that they should come against Israel in battle, that He might utterly destroy them, and that they (the enemy) might receive no mercy, but that He might destroy them, as the LORD had commanded Moses. 1 when one is arraigned or goes to law, to win the case, maintain one's cause Sept 1-4 4

Raising Lazarus from the dead on the fourth day. Jesus being raised from the dead. Matthew 25 speaks about this mystery. The Wise and Foolish Virgins. Matthew 25:1 tells about 5 foolish and 5 wise virgins. The only difference was that the foolish ones did not hang on long enough when their bridegroom was late in keeping his promise. The foolish did not have enough oil to wait for Him. The Lord will come back now, into your situation to change your problems into blessings. The wise virgins knew their master s personality. I can hear them saying, I don t care if he is late, he is a man of honor and integrity, and he will keep his word. He will never leave me nor forsake me. The wise virgins stay connected to God and His Word and His Holy Spirit to such a degree that nothing can move them. Satan does not stand a chance. Luke 10:19 says, Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you. If---- Of course this authority will not operate in us unless we know our identity in Christ and live out a life of repentance. Satan works on both of these issues through your mind and circumstances in order to nullify your authority. Don t just sit there until you die. Walk into the enemy s camp and cast them out with your prayers. Go ahead and think of your worst problem. Now think of or look up a promise in God s Word. Now you decide. Which one is changeable, and which one is unchangeable? Let the peoples praise You, O God; Let all the peoples praise You. Then the earth shall yield her increase; God, our own God, shall bless us (Psalm 67:5-6). If our love were just more simple, We would take Him at His word; And our lives would be all sunshine, In the sweetness of our Lord. Sept 1-4 5
