Itinerary DAY 1 THURSDAY 21 JUNE 2018 Depart Australia If you are purchasing the full tour package you will depart Australia on an Emirates flight via Dubai to Amman, Jordan. Clients travelling from Hobart/Launceston have their Qantas domestic flight to Melbourne included in the tour price. DAY 2 FRIDAY 22 JUNE 2018 Arrival Amman Tel Aviv Your Emirates flight arrives into Amman International airport at 9.30am. You will be met on arrival and assisted through immigration. We will then travel to the Sheikh Hussein border crossing approximately 1 hours drive and enter into Israel. We then drive from the border to Tel Aviv. Check in to the hotel for dinner and overnight. Hotel: Herod s, Tel Aviv Meals: Dinner DAY 3 SATURDAY 23 JUNE 2018 Jaffa - Casarea Maritima - Galilee Today we will meet others joining the tour in Jerusalem (after the GAFCON 2018 conference). Travel to the old port town of Jaffa, known in biblical times as Joppa. Jaffa is one of the oldest functioning harbours in the world. Today it harbours only small fishing boats. This was the port to which Jonah came when fleeing from the Lord to Tarshish (Jonah 1:3). Peter came to Joppa from Lydda to raise Tabitha (Dorcas) from the dead (Acts 9:36-42). While in Joppa, the apostle stayed at the house of Simon the Tanner. Continue to Caesarea Maritima ( by the sea ), the scene of significant events for Christians including the headquarters of Pontius Pilate. From here the Roman procurator set out for the Passover festival in Jerusalem, where he sentenced Jesus to death. From here the apostle Paul set off to sail on his missionary journeys. The Roman aqueduct is an impressive site as well at the Crusader city from the 13th century. Travel via the bustling port of Haifa to the Sea of Galilee where you will check in for a 3 night stay. DAY 4 SUNDAY 24 JUNE 201 Galilee After breakfast we depart for the town of Capernaum (Matt8:5-18; Luke 7:1-10; John 6:52-59) and visit the first century synagogue. Continue to the Tabgha Church of the Multiplication (Mark 8:1-10) and St Peter s Primacy/Mensa Christi (John 21:1-25). Enjoy a visit to the Mount of Beatitudes (Matt 5:1-12). Continue to Magdala, with its recent archaeological discoveries. We end the day with a boat ride on the Sea of Galilee before returning to Nof Ginosar for dinner. Hotel: Nof Ginosar Meals: Breakfast, Dinner DAY 5 MONDAY 25 JUNE 2018 Golan Heights Caesarea Philippi Tel Dan Today we enjoy a wonderful day in the outdoors. Drive up the Golan Heights to the Springs of Banias, also known as Caesarea Philippi where Peter confessed Thou art the Christ (Matt 16:13-20). Continue to Tel Dan National Park to see the Canaanite ruins and the altar built by King Jeroboam (1Kings 12:25-30). Returning towards the Sea of Galilee we will visit the towns of Kursi and Korazim. Hotel: Nof Ginosar Meals: Breakfast, Dinner DAY 6 TUESDAY 26 JUNE 2018 Beat Shean Qumran Masada Today we travel through the Judean hills to visit Beat Shean, an impressive Roman city. Continue to Qumran where the Jewish Essene community lived and see the caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were hidden. Drive along the shore of the Dead Sea onto Ein Gedi spring where David hid in a cave from Saul (1 Sam 23) and then to Masada, the fortress stronghold of Jewish resistance to the Romans. Itinerary DAY 7 WEDNESDAY 27 JUNE 2018 Dead Sea - Hebron - Bethlehem home stay Farewell the Dead Sea and visit the city of Hebron to visit the impressive glass shop before continuing on to Bethlehem and Beit Sahour. Here you will meet your Palestinian family with whom you will stay in their home for the night. This is a wonderful opportunity to learn more about their lives and culture. You will experience Middle Eastern hospitality at its best! For many, this is the highlight of the tour. Hotel: Home stay Meals: Breakfast and Dinner DAY 8 THURSDAY 28 JUNE 2018 Bethlehem Today we farewell our host family and visit the key Christian sites in Bethlehem, including the Church of the Nativity and Shepherd s Fields. This afternoon we will visit the Bethlehem Bible College and enjoy a lecture on the Christian perspective of the Israeli- Palestinian conflict. In the afternoon we will travel the short distance to Jerusalem and check in to our hotel for a 4 night stay. Meals: Breakfast and Dinner DAY 9 FRIDAY 29 JUNE 2018 Museums of Jerusalem Today we will travel to what is referred to as the New Jerusalem and visit both the Holocaust Museum (Yad Vashem) and the Israel Museum that houses the Dead Sea scrolls and exhibits an amazing model of the city of Jerusalem. Return to your hotel in the afternoon for free time. We encourage you to walk to the Western Wall for the coming in of Shabbat (Sabbath). Meals: Breakfast and Dinner DAY 10 SATURDAY 30 JUNE 2018 Mount of Olives - Garden of Gethsemane - Old City Today is a great day! We start at the Mount of Olives overlooking the Old City of Jerusalem. We then walk down Palm Sunday Road to the Garden of Gethsemane and the Church of All Nations. Continue to the Via Dolorosa, following the stations of the Cross. Later in the day we travel up to Mt Zion to see St Peter in Gallicantu, where Peter denied Jesus three times. Return to the hotel for dinner. DAY 11 SUNDAY 1 JULY 2018 City of David - Wailing Wall - Davidson Centre You may take the opportunity to attend a church service at St George s Cathedral, a short walk from the hotel. Today we visit the City of David. Pass through the underground tunnels, walls and fortresses, where Jerusalem was born. Later in the day we visit the Davidson Centre: a modern underground museum, just south of the Temple Mount. The centre offers an in-depth archaeological and historical introduction to the Jerusalem Archaeological Park by means of an exhibition of archaeological objects, augmented by visual, textual and audio information. One of the highlights of this modern facility is a real-time virtual reality reconstruction of the Herodian Temple Mount as it stood prior to its destruction by Roman troops in the year 70 CE. Return to the hotel for dinner. DAY 12 MONDAY 2 JULY 2018 Jordan River baptism site - Mt Nebo - Madaba - Petra Today we sadly farewell Jerusalem and cross back into Jordan via the Allenby Bridge border crossing. En route we stop and visit the Jordan River baptism site where it is believed that John the Baptist baptised Jesus. You have an opportunity to renew your own baptismal vows. Continue to the border crossing followed by a short drive to Mt Nebo, the site where Moses first saw the Promised Land. Continue to the nearby town of Madaba to see an ancient mosaic map of Jerusalem. We then travel 3 hours south to Petra. Check in to the hotel for dinner and overnight. Itinerary DAY 13 TUESDAY 3 JULY 2018 DAY 15 THURSDAY 5 JULY 2018 A full day to explore this incredible Wonder of the World! Petra is a famous archaeological site in Jordan s south-western desert. Dating to around 300 B.C., it was the capital of the Nabatean Kingdom. Accessed via a narrow canyon called Al Siq, it contains tombs and temples carved into pink sandstone cliffs, earning its nickname, the Rose City. Perhaps its most famous structure is 45m-high Al Khazneh, a temple with an ornate, Greek-style facade, and known as The Treasury. In addition to The Treasury you can continue onto visit the Monastery and other sites. Continue to Jerash, an impressive Greco-Roman city on the outskirts of Amman. Return to the hotel to pack and freshen followed by dinner. Check out of the hotel at 11pm and transfer to the airport for the 2.40am flight to Dubai.
