Council members were encouraged to keep Brad Zwiers in their prayers during this time of discernment. Notes of encouragement can be emailed to him at brad.zwiers@gmail.com. During this annual period of Council transition, new committee assignments are being made. All committee chairs are asked to review their membership and mandates. Any changes or questions should be forwarded to Walter DeBoer. Some committees will be assigned prioritized recommendations from the Planning and Vision Committee report to begin reviewing and acting upon. Dear community of Calvin Christian Reformed Church, It s hard to believe we're at this place already! I'm incredibly grateful for the warmth and kindness Calvin CRC has shown me in the call process, and the letter of call I received last week is no exception. Really, thank you.

Gwyn and I have already been praying toward this call, and now that it s official, we won't stop. We re a bit unfamiliar with the timing in these situations, but we'll take some time. Please, please don t interpret that time as hesitation; we only want to be prayerful, intentional, and attentive to the voice of God. In the meantime, we are eager to keep communication lines as open as possible. Please get in touch with me if you have any questions (or comments!). I'll do the same with you. I m honored and encouraged! Thank you so much. In Christ, Brad Zwiers DESIGNATING OFFERINGS: To ensure your contributions are allocated to the correct cause and the correct bank accounts of the church, the Deacons and the counting crew highly appreciate you making out separate checks for different cause contributions (for example, Missions, Benevolence, Ministry Fund). Our remaining loan balance is approximately $80,000, of which $60,000 is already committed. That leaves only $20,000 in new money to secure before 2019 when our loan is due! If you have an outstanding gift commitment a letter updating your remaining balance is in your church mailbox. Everyone is invited to consider your level of participation as we secure the remaining balance. A new gift commitment form will be arriving in your church mailbox soon. As you consider your gift commitment give thanks for the opportunities to serve through this remarkable ministry! REQUESTED ANNOUNCEMENTS Safe Haven Ministries has been helping women and children find freedom from domestic violence since 1990. That help is provided through Ramoth House (our emergency shelter), support groups, individual case management, and education of our community about prevention. Safe Haven has been able to do this important work because God has provided partners who care. Your church is part of that. Now we have some exciting news to share. An anonymous donor has generously provided a matching gift. Any gifts received from new donors, increased gifts from current donors, and any gifts from donors who renew their support (gave previously, but not this year or last year) between March 1, 2018 and June 30, 2018 will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $50,000. We need your help to meet this match! If you have questions or would like to send a gift, contact Kent Bosma at 616-452-6664, kbosma@safehavenministries.org or go to www.safehavenministries.org/support
