Service: Science of the Future Aquarius Full Moon Meditation, New York February 3, 2015 Barbara Valocore A warm welcome everyone to this Festival of Aquarius, to those of you in the room and also those participating from various locations through the internet. We are meeting an hour earlier than usual because the exact time of the full moon will occur in just a few moments, and we have therefore a unique opportunity to unite our energies while physically together and to work together in consciousness in service to the Plan and humanity. Since before recorded time, human beings have observed the full moon from wherever they lived, gazing with awe at the bright orb making a dark night sky alive with radiant and diffused light. Every culture and civilization has recognized the significance of the rhythm and ritual of the full moon and at some deep level, even at the cellular level, we have always known that the full moon is a special and magical event. Many religious holidays or holy days are calculated based on the moon's cycles and the tides of the great oceans are governed by the moon. At the time of the full moon, there is nothing standing between the sun and the earth, the moon being completely out of the way, so the Solar Life can pour fully onto the planet in an unimpeded path. It is a time when there is the most reflected sunlight reaching the earth, which travels on a "band of golden light, extending between the Sun and the Moon, completely irradiating the lunar surface, making possible certain revelations", (Discipleship in the New Age, Vol II, p55) in the words of the Tibetan. At this time, we are able to most easily direct that light through the group channel and into the minds and hearts of humanity. Right now, the door is wide open into the spiritual Hierarchy, and humanity is able to contact potent and lighted energies not normally available. We are most susceptible to impression during the full moon and the exact time is an exceptional occasion in which we can offer our energies for use by the Hierarchy with one united intention; to focus as a lens the light and love seeking to externalize on earth. Let us extend our awareness to the many groups we may know of gathered at this time all over the planet in recognition of the full moon opportunity. Let us see the efforts of the men and women of goodwill, who are carefully and steadily working toward bettering the human condition, come to fruition making the world safe for all life. Let us see the new group of world servers as a lighted bridge of consciousness, building right relations in all spheres of life and helping to bring humanity to a recognition of the oneness of life. Now, imagine the door to the Ashram swinging widely open as we walk through that door together. We join our Elder Brothers, blending our energies in the atmosphere of pure reason and intelligent will, with the Christ presiding over all, as He pours His boundless love onto the whole company. We will have three minutes of intense focused stillness followed by the Great Invocation, the mantram of the 7th Ray and the Word of Power for the Aquarian Age. 1
Silence (during the time of the full moon) From the point of Light within the Mind of God Let light stream forth into the minds of men. Let Light descend on Earth. From the point of Love within the Heart of God Let love stream forth into the hearts of men. May Christ return to Earth. From the center where the Will of God is known Let Purpose guide the little wills of men-- The Purpose which the Masters know and serve. From the center which we call the race of men Let the Plan of Love and Light work out And may it seal the door where evil dwells. Let Light and Love and Power restore the Plan on Earth. OM OM OM With every passing year, our source of life, the sun, our planet and all of humanity are moving together further into Aquarius. We are being birthed as planetary citizens, knowing ourselves as a whole and single species, in ever closer relationship to the spiritual Hierarchy, those who serve as Aquarius indicates. Aquarius can no longer be thought of as "the future", but is clearly the present, and we are fulfilling our destiny in every moment. It is the constellation into which both the lesser and greater zodiacal cycles are moving and because they are coinciding, it is a time, we are told, that the Hierarchy has been preparing for millions of years. We can't possibly know what it means for the greater system to be influenced by Aquarius for 25,000 years, but here in our small solar system, we are becoming accustomed to and are embracing the shifting currents of this new and electrically charged energy which is being ushered in by the powerful 7th Ray. We are becoming sensitive to what it is asking of us and what it requires. The symbol of Aquarius is a person carrying a water pot and the keynote of the soul is "Water of Life am I, poured forth for thirsty men", clearly indicating that of all the zodiacal signs, this is the quintessential sign of service. The Aquarian disciple eventually becomes a world server, and uses his energy to express the "active intention to be active on behalf of the Hierarchy", (Rays and the Initiations vol III p135) as Alice Bailey puts it. Activity is the central purpose and even the glyph, two parallel wavy lines, suggests alive and restless motion. The soul young in Aquarius and still conditioned by Leo, is burdened by service because she has been focused on self service for so long; the water pot is heavy on her shoulders and the urge to serve springs from a desire for spiritual advancement. Spiritual people must serve. And the service "I" am doing is important; me and my service activities are useful and needed. Time is set aside for service and predictably, after a time of intense outer activity, and not spiritually tense thought, burn out 2
occurs and one needs to rest and to recharge the energies. But with passing time, experience of the cycles and growing soul influence, the rush of running hither and thither and going out to serve matures into a deep inner knowing and a spontaneous soul activity which pours spiritual and healing energies out into the world in response to any expressed need. Serving self is now serving the group, humanity and all life. The aspirant is learning to be responsive to group energies and to focus in the group and for the group. The initiate in Aquarius has already gone through the mountaintop experience in Capricorn, and having seen the vision of the One, turns back to face the valleys and plains of earth, bringing the supernal light down to serve the race, stimulating group consciousness and consciously participating in the Christ's work. He now stands at the center of the Cross, and the water pot, the chalice containing the Christ's essence, the water of life, stands freely on top of his head as a weightless joy. Service has become a result of soul contact and evidence of a radiant inner life expressing true brotherhood and cooperation. The life energy streams forth freely, giving to all in the Great Service. We are now in a time when groups rule and group work is the method of service. There is no more significant group than the new group of world servers, the global group made up of people everywhere, working in every field of human activity. Their, or really our task, is to be sensitive to and impressed by the divine Plan and to present the ideas contacted in meditation to the general public, to thinking men and women of goodwill everywhere. Leading up to the release of his book in 2007 called Blessed Unrest, writer Paul Hawken followed and documented tens of thousands of social and environmental organizations. As he and his team were doing their work, they kept finding more and more groups until they realized there were perhaps as many as two million organizations worldwide working for ecological sustainability and social justice, towards values that enhance life. What he describes is clearly the new group of world servers. He writes: "It is dispersed, inchoate and fiercely independent. It has no manifesto or doctrine, no overriding authority to check with. It is taking shape in schoolrooms, farms, jungles, villages, companies, deserts, fisheries, slums _ and yes, even fancy New York hotels. One of its distinctive features is that it is emerging as a global humanitarian movement arising from the bottom up...how does it function? How fast is it growing? How is it connected?" He goes on to say, "I sought a name for the movement, but none exists....but after spending years researching this phenomenon, I have come to these conclusions: this is the largest social movement in all of human history. No one knows its scope, and how it functions is more mysterious than what meets the eye. What does meet the eye is compelling: coherent, organic, self-organized congregations involving tens of millions of people dedicated to change." Although most of the groups described by Hawken would not describe their work as "active intention to be active on behalf of the Hierarchy", they are effective serving groups that love humanity and through whom "the consciousness of the heart" is flowing. Uranus, the exoteric ruler of Aquarius, brings in and embodies the energy of the 7th 3
Ray, the powerful energy blending spirit and matter that humanity is beginning to experience and which will condition us for a long time to come. Electrical Uranus is the disrupter; mixing things up, changing and upsetting the status quo so that we are continually forced to transform, adapt and evolve. With the intensity of lightning, it gives no warning and acts with sudden but unmistakable power to dislodge old patterns of thinking so there is room for the new. Along with Saturn, the ruler of the first decanate of Aquarius and the planet of discipleship, opportunities are presented in the form of difficulties and crises, forcing the aspirant to choose either materialism or the soul, to stay stuck in the old ways or embrace the new. Uranus and the 7th Ray are in no uncertain terms, breaking down identification with form so that the true inner life can be revealed. "The influence of Uranus finally produces an unfolded spiritual consciousness", (Rays and the Initiations vol III p224) the Ageless Wisdom tells us, and one can observe the endless groups working with spiritual teachers and all kinds of teachings popping up everywhere. People are hungry for the Christ energy, the "water of life", and are recognizing that true living has more to do with spiritual energy than with materialistic values or money. Uranus ultimately carries the energy which demonstrates as goodwill and right human relations. Alice Bailey says, "Uranus is the planet whose characteristics are the scientific mind". (The Rays and the Initiations, p224) One of the three Ashrams that will first appear in outer form as part of the externalization process is the 5th Ray Ashram of Concrete Knowledge and Science and the scientific community is already well on its way to proving some aspects of the esoteric teaching. Students are familiar with the many references made in the writings of H.P. Blavatsky and Alice Bailey about the mystery of electricity. In the first volume of Esoteric Psychology Bailey writes: "One of the imminent discoveries will be the integrating power of electricity as it produces the cohesion within all forms and sustains all form life during the cycle of manifested existence. It produces also the coming together of atoms and of the organisms within forms, so constructing that which is needed to express the life principle."(esoteric Psychology,Vol I pp 373-74) These words are intriguingly reflected in the currently vigorous debate about the nature of the Universe being electrical rather than gravity based. More and more scientists are questioning the validity of current theories such as the Big Bang, black holes and dark matter as being elaborate constructs invented to explain a gravity based Universe. But the newer Electric Universe paradigm, steadily gaining momentum, emphasizes electrical connectivity and posits that the cellular constituents of all living systems are electrically connected! Even more interesting to esoteric students is the fact that cosmic plasma is referred to as a "fourth state of matter" following solids, liquids and gasses, suggesting scientists are close to revealing the nature of the etheric body which substands all physical manifestation. Space scientists know that all objects in the universe move through a sea of cosmic plasma, a gas like environment of freely moving and ionized, or electrically charged particles. Electric currents in plasma create magnetic fields and the spectacular electromagnetic emissions we can see now with powerful telescopes and space probes. The universe also contains teensy almost massless freely moving particles with no electrical charge called neutrinos, and billions of these subatomic particles pass through our bodies if we are in direct contact with the sun. We are all moving in 4
an ocean of cosmic energy and are bombarded with energies from space all the time. Might this cosmic energy, these electrical particles, be susceptible of being charged with the energies of goodwill and love through the power of thought and focused meditation? The electrical connection to our sun is now well established through a phenomena known as Birkeland currents, named for their discoverer. These currents are driven by the solar wind which is a stream of charged plasma released from the upper atmosphere of the Sun. The solar currents which constantly move through the solar system enter the earth's atmosphere and interacting with it, cause the auroras we see at the north and south poles. Our planet is directly and electrically connected to the sun, its source of life. Down here in the microcosm, our body is a mini electrical universe too. The blood plasma, our own internal electrical fluid, carries the life force and all nutrients throughout the body; cleansing, purifying and healing as it goes. The beating heart pumps electrical energy through the body mirroring the rhythmic pulsing of the heart of our solar system, the sun. We are literally a walking system of fiery sparks with the potential to ignite the Universe with the basic energy of our Solar System, that of pure love-wisdom. The circulation of our own vital electrical energy unifies us with the cosmos; it is inside us and we are part of it; there can be no separation. We are reflections of the Heavenly Man and tiny sparks of life within the greater whole. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said, "To the illumined mind the whole world burns and sparkles with light." Aquarius, the custodian of the "life more abundantly" calls humanity to enter into the Great Service, to express the true nature of the soul, absolute love. It requires us to lift and redeem ourselves up into the consciousness of the heart so that a true awareness of the oneness of life becomes possible. It asks us to enter into the group awareness that knows neither time nor space, boundaries or distance. It bids us to fill our water pots with the Christ's love, the water of life, so that all hearts across distance may be united in the Chalice of service. Agni Yoga instructs us how to stand in the fire of love: From the book Heart: "Where then is that sentiment, that substance with which we can fill the Chalice of the Great Service? Let us gather this feeling from the best treasures. We shall find its components in religious ecstasy, when the heart quivers at the Highest Light. We shall find its components in the feeling of heart-felt love, when the tear of self renunciation glistens. We shall discern it in the hero's achievement when power is multiplied in the name of humanity. We shall find it in the patience of the gardener when he ponders over the mystery hidden in a seed. We shall find it in the courage that pierces darkness. We shall find it in the smile of the child when it is attracted to a sunbeam. We shall find it amidst all flights that carry us into the Infinite. The feeling of Great Service is unlimited; it must fill the heart which is forever inexhaustible. 5
