Lord s Supper Table Song Behold the Lamb Page 10 Table Song How Deep Page 11 Communion Prayer Sending Song As the Heavens are Higher Page 12 Benediction The Lord s Supper The Lord s Supper is one of two sacraments commanded by Christ and entrusted to his church (the other being Baptism). It portrays the gospel in a tangible way. Distributing bread and wine pictures the broken body and shed blood of Jesus freely offered for the forgiveness of sin and the transformation of our character. Eating those elements illustrates the faith that embraces Jesus Christ as Savior and Lord. What s the Lord s Supper for? Renewing our faith in God s goodness and grace. Grasping the freedom God offers to live like Jesus, reconcile conflicts and find power for service. Who is the Lord s Supper for? Members in good standing of any church that faithfully teaches the gospel, and who long for fellowship with Christ today. Children may partake in communion once they have confessed their own faith publicly before the congregation. Until then, be sure to include your children in the sacrament by reminding them what you believe and letting them accompany you to the Table. And remember that you are free to take the elements at the front of the sanctuary, where you could quietly gather your family together to ask God for his blessing. Offertory Blest Be the Tie Blest be the tie that binds our hearts in Christian love; the fellowship of kindred minds is like to that above, is like to that above. Before the Father s throne we pour our ardent prayers; our fears, our hopes, our aims are one, our comforts and our cares, our comforts and our cares. We share each other s woes, our mutual burdens bear, and often for each other flows the sympathizing tear, the sympathizing tear. When we asunder part, it gives us inward pain; but we shall still be joined in heart, and hope to meet again, and hope to meet again. This glorious hope revives our courage on the way; while each in expectation lives and longs to see the day, and longs to see the day. From sorrow, toil, and pain, and sin, we shall be free; and perfect love and friendship reign through all eternity, through all eternity. Text by John Fawcett, Music by Bethany Brooks 6

Gathering Song Come People of the Risen King Come people of the Risen King, Who delight to bring Him praise; Come all, and tune your hearts to sing To the Morning Star of grace. From the shifting shadows of the earth, We will lift our eyes to Him, Where steady arms of mercy reach, To gather children in. Chorus: Rejoice, rejoice! Let ev ry tongue rejoice! One heart, one voice; O Church of Christ, rejoice! Come those whose joy is morning sun, And those weeping through the night; Come those who tell of battles won, And those struggling in the fight. For His perfect love will never change, And His mercies never cease, But follow us through all our days, With certain home of peace. Come young and old from ev ry land, Men and women of the faith; Come those with full or empty hands Find the riches of His grace. Over all the world, His people sing Shore to shore we hear them call The truth that cries in ev ry age, Our God is all in all. Table Song Behold the Lamb Behold the Lamb who bears our sins away Slain for us and we remember The promise made that all who come in faith Find forgiveness at the cross So we share in this Bread of Life And we drink of His sacrifice As a sign of our bonds of peace Around the table of the King The body of our Saviour Jesus Christ Torn for you eat and remember The wounds that heal the death that brings us life Paid the price to make us one So we share in this Bread of Life And we drink of His sacrifice As a sign of our bonds of love Around the table of the King The blood that cleanses every stain of sin Shed for you drink and remember He drained death s cup that all may enter in To receive the life of God So we share in this Bread of Life And we drink of His sacrifice As a sign of our bonds of grace Around the table of the King And so with thankfulness and faith we rise To respond and to remember Our call to follow in the steps of Christ As His body here on earth As we share in His suffering We proclaim Christ will come again And we ll join in the feast of heaven Around the table of the King Keith Getty Kristyn Getty Stuart Townend 2007 Thankyou Music CCLI License # 56194 10
Table Song How Deep You were broken that I might be healed. You were cast off that I might draw near. You were thirsty that I might come drink, Cried out in anguish that I might sing: How deep is Your love, How high and how wide is Your mercy. How deep is Your grace Our hearts overflow with praise to You. You knew darkness that I might know light, Wept great tears that mine might be dried. Stripped of glory that I might be clothed, Crushed by Your Father to call me Your own. How deep is Your love, How high and how wide is Your mercy. How deep is Your grace Our hearts overflow with praise to You. 2006 Sovereign Grace Praise, Sovereign Grace Music, From Valley of Vision Words and Music by Stephen Altrogge CCLI License # 56194 11
Sending Song As the Heavens are Higher As the heav ns are higher than the earth, So His ways are higher than the ways of the world, And His thoughts run deeper than the mind of man: Father break into our darkened hearts. Come and drink the river of His word, If you thirst for water that can satisfy; Come and Join the banquet at the Master s feast, Where His love and faithfulness provide. Chorus I will trust in You, as You speak to me; I will turn to You as You call my name. As the rain gives life on this arid ground, So Your word will bring Your children home. So Your word will bring Your children home. Come and listen to His gentle voice, For the words He speaks to us are Spirit and life; Come and seek your Savior while He may be found, Sure that Jesus words can never lie. Richard Simpkin 12

Reflection & Preparation Reflection: Acts 2:42-47 Quote - There is no such thing as a Spirit-filled Christian who neglects the study of the Word of God. There is no such thing as a Spirit-filled church that does not give itself continually and steadfastly to the study of sacred Scripture We see in the early church the study and proclamation of the Word, the enjoyment of fellowship, the breaking of bread, and the sacrament of the Lord s Supper. We also see prayer. Jesus himself designated His Father s house as a house of prayer, and the first-century community was a praying church. (R. C. Sproul, Acts, pgs. 68, 69) This Week: Prayer: Psalm 112:1-10 The man who fears the LORD Romans 12:9-13 Be devoted to one another Acts 1:12-14 With one mind Gracious Father, we pray for the church, the body of Christ here on earth. Fill it with all truth, in all truth with all peace. Where it is corrupt, purify it; where it is in error, direct it; where it is amiss, reform it. Where it is right, strengthen it; where it is in want, provide for it; where it is divided, reunite it; for the sake of Jesus Christ your Son our Savior. Amen.
