Carmel UMC Youth Ministry 7 Year Curriculum Plan Published Aug. 2016

TABLE OF CONTENTS About... 2 Confirmation: 6 th Grade... 3 Middle School: A 2 year rotating curriculum... 4 High School: a 4 year rotating curriculum... 5-6 About This Plan This document is a 7 year rotating Curriculum Plan developed by a team of educators based on feedback by the church and through the work of the consultant Ministry Architects. This tool will be used to help the youth ministry of Carmel United Methodist Church cover the topics that the church identified as most important for our youth to know. Some topics are not covered in these 7 years, but will be covered during other times (summer break, mission trips ) that are not a part of this plan. Topics that are not currently covered in this curriculum, but will be worked into the curriculum on a yearly basis during appropriate times, 1. Advent, Lent, Holy Week & Easter need to be organized around the liturgical calendar for that year 2. Topics like the Reformation & Methodist History, the Early Church, The Old Testament, Bible 101 and others should be taught during summer breaks, small groups or retreat experiences 3. Leave Flexibility to cover other topics & important issues that arise (natural disasters, terrorism ) as needed This document provides a clear scope and sequence for youth leaders to follow, as well as a guide for parents and church members seeking information as to what will be taught throughout the developmental process. Thanks to all who helped come up with topics and especially to the educators who volunteered their time to help make this a reality. Page 2 August 12, 2016
