Companions, ANCIENT CHAPTER NO. 31, R.A.M. Second Thursday, Dinner 6:30pm, Stated Convocation 7:30 pm. For the months of January, March, June, September and December Pittsburgh Masonic Hall, 185 School Street, Pittsburgh, CA 94565 Attire: Red Coat I am greatly honored and want to thank my brother companions for electing me to the ceremonial position of High Priest. As I was reflecting upon this position I decided to review the books of Ezra and Nehemiah which provide much of the source materials for much of the Royal Arch degree. I find that their themes of restoration are an apt metaphor for our role in the life of Freemasonry today. The narrative describes a people who have returned to Jerusalem from their multigenerational captivity in Babylon and are confronted with the awesome task of rebuilding the wall and ultimately the Temple of God. Due to the 60+ years of captivity it is unlikely that anyone living at the time of the restoration had any memory of the former glory that was King Solomon s Temple. So too it is with our fraternity today, many of us have come to Freemasonry within the last decades and have no memory of a time when our membership was not shrinking. But just like Nehemiah who surveyed the wall and then set about to re-build it, we must take up the task of re-invigorating our lodges and chapters as we set out to ensure that the principles of our great Fraternity live on. My goal for this year is to live up to the memory of those courageous men whom we ceremonially represent. Join with me and let s make sure that Ancient 31 s best days are ahead of us. Please join us for the Officer Installation Dinner and Ceremony Thursday, January 12, 2017. Dinner is at 6:30 and Installation begins at 7:30 PM. RSVP required.
