New Evangelization Corner Dear Friends, Happy Divine Mercy Sunday! I absolutely love this feast day, and like many of you, I have been preparing for today by praying the Divine Mercy Novena and Chaplet for the last week. The devotional Divine Mercy prayers are meant to lead us to the heart of the Divine Mercy message, but sometimes the heart of the message can get lost in our efforts to complete our prayers. The heart of Divine Mercy is all about a heart: the heart of Jesus pierced by love for each one of us. Jesus speaks of the great love of His Sacred Heart to St. Faustina in her diary: "I have opened My heart as a living fountain of mercy. Let all souls draw life from it." The pierced side of Jesus provides an opening for us to see His Heart. The Scriptures consider the heart more than a physical organ; it is the core and the most expressive element of a person. That's why when lovers "share their heart" with each other, they are really revealing the core of who they are with each other. When Jesus reveals His Heart to us, He is revealing the core of who He is: Divine Love given and poured out for us. Jesus also reveals that He is mercy, which is love that goes out to misery. We need Jesus' love to touch our misery, but often our faith is too weak to believe in such a wonderful and unconditional love. In today's gospel, Thomas's faith is strengthened after he is invited to put his hand in Jesus' side. Brothers and sisters, today Jesus invites each one of us to gaze into his pierced side, too. Like Thomas, it is here where our faith is strengthened and where our misery is met with mercy. O blood and water, which gushed forth from the heart of Jesus as a fountain of mercy for us, I trust in you. ~ Kristin Molitor The Healing Power of God Remember in prayer all who are in need of the Lord s Healing and Strength especially: Linda Zwak Ellie Czeck Nancy Linz Kieran Kloss Peter Kurtz Dave Loehlein Mary Fruechte Clem Doll Macallum Orton Abby Olson Armella Schmidt Katie Yurczyk Arnold Voss Judy Schehr Christine Kundtson Joe Burg LeRoy Johannes Jeanette May James Johnson George Platz Jamie Christensen Sharon Prokott Norma Streit Brenda Scepaniak Lana Doll Reagan Zierden Betty Namyst Kerry Kantor Vernon Vos Gene Casey Ramona Zeis Kevin Fussy Michelle Rosinger Louise Bieniek Leander Bieniek James Beniek Eucaristic Adoration Every Monday All Saints-St. Mary s 8:00 a.m. 10:00 p.m. Every Saturday St. Stanislaus Kostka 6:00 a.m.-6:00 p.m. Daily Mass Eucharistic Adoration is also held for one hour following daily Mass on Monday, Wednesday and Thursday. With your Rosary begin with the sign of the cross and say: (Opening prayer) You expired, Jesus, but the source of life gushed forth for souls, and the ocean of mercy opened up for the whole world. O Fount of Life, Unfathomable Divine Mercy, envelop the whole world and empty Yourself out upon us. (Repeat 3 times) O Blood and Water, which gushed forth from the Heart of Jesus as a fountain of Mercy for us, I trust in You! 2. On the three beads of the rosary pray the Our Father, the Hail Mary and the Apostles Creed. 3. Begin each decade with the Our Father beads by praying this prayer: Eternal Father, I offer You the Body and Blood, Soul and Divinity of Your dearly beloved Son, Our Lord Jesus Christ, in atonement for our sins and those of the whole world. 4. Complete the decade on the 10 Hail Mary beads by praying the prayer: For the sake of His sorrowful Passion, have mercy on us and on the whole world. (Repeat Steps 3 and 4 for each decade on the rosary beads) 5. Once you have prayed all 5 decades, you finish the Chaplet by praying the following prayer 3 times: Holy God, Holy Mighty One, Holy Immortal One, have mercy on us and on the whole world. (Closing Prayer) Eternal God, in whom mercy is endless and the treasury of compassion inexhaustible, look kindly upon us, and increase Your mercy in us, that in difficult moments, we might not despair nor become despondent, but with great confidence, submit ourselves to Your holy will, which is Love and Mercy itself. Amen.
