Weekly e-notice for November 6-12, 2017 Pick-A-Dreidel... Say hello to our troops... (see below) --- THE SYNAGOGUE SCHEDULE --- Monday November 6 Tuesday November 7 - Election Day! Rabbi's Class is off this week next week Sisterhood Board Meeting after Minyan Wednesday November 8 Torah study class after Minyan Thursday November 9 Friday November 10 Kabbalat Shabbat / Maariv 6:00 PM Saturday November 11 Shaharit 9:30 AM Sunday November 12 Shaharit service 9:15 AM * * * IMPORTANT NOTICES, REMINDERS AND COMING EVENTS * * * 1 of 6 11/6/17, 2:17 PM

Please remember that we need you to help us make a minyan. Notice 1: Access to the SHJC facilities will be available via use of your access cards only for increased security. If you need a replacement card, get it soon! $10 before December 1, $18 after that. Notice 2: SHJC hosts an e-mail discussion board/chat ("The Chat") group where members are able to share thoughts and information about the situation in Israel, as well as discuss items of interest at SHJC, and in the Jewish community both around the corner and around the world. Even if you're not really interested in posting your own feelings, you can read what others are sharing. And there's a big bonus: members share their experiences and recommendations for local services from dentists to plumbers and much more. If you would like to subscribe, just email membership@shjc.org and we will be happy to add you to the list. Every so often you'd get a message you might just want to see! Please also like us at https://www.facebook.com/southhuntingtonjewishcenter for videos, articles, and information about community events (you can like both the SHJC group and the SHJC Men s Club Group). Sign up this week... We re staffing the USO Military Welcome Center at JFK Airport for 2018. Our shift is every Sunday from 8 PM to 11 PM. I know at first it sounds inconvenient, but you only have to do a single one Sunday out of the entire year. Volunteering is easy, plus you get to personally thank those who serve for us. Young people are welcome, and community service credit is available. Come to thank and help our women and men in uniform for just a few hours on one Sunday evening out of your entire year. And it's a good lesson for our young people! Get your name(s) in this week so we can start to organize our 2018 Sundays. Pick-A-Dreidel is back! Only five weeks until Hanukkah, and we have four charities and many children whose lives need to be brightened by a Hanukkah gift. These children are in foster care after being abused or neglected, living in poverty, or they or their families are trying to cope with serious illness. Pick a dreidel from the board by the office and follow the directions, or contact Karen Scharf (kjscharf@yahoo.com) or Jennifer Kohn (greenearthmom@optonline.net) for more info or to donate a $25 gift card. We are also seeking donations of new gloves, hats or scarves for 18 children, ages 5 to 17. Happy Hanukkah! Challah4You? Fresh, kosher, weekly challah, only $5 each. Pick up on Thursday evening or during the day on Friday. Dates: 11/9, 11/16, 11/30, 12/7, 12/14, 2 of 6 11/6/17, 2:17 PM

12/21, 1/4, 1/11, 1/18, 1/25. (No pickups when school is closed 11/23, 12/28). Make your check payable to SHJC. Questions? Contact Ellen Marcus at emarcus@shjc.org or 631-421-3224. Tuesday, November 14, 8:00 PM. Join us for our popular program Tea, Torah and Teachings taught by Suri Jacknis, our beloved Rebbetzin! This women s study group gives us the opportunity to discuss contemporary issues through the lens of Torah. Join us to see what you've been missing. Open to SHJC and Sisterhood members. For more information and for new RSVPs, please contact programming@shjc.org. Mark your calendars for future dates: 1/23, 3/20, 5/15/18.
