WHO WE ARE WELCOME to Pioneer Today we're excited to welcome Elder James Micheff, Jr. to Pioneer Memorial Church. As the new president, Elder Micheff oversees all of the churches in the Michigan Conference. He entered the ministry as a pastor for the Rocky Mountain Conference in 1994. After several years, he accepted a call to be a pastor for the Michigan Conference in 1996. In 2000 he was invited to serve as director of the youth department and served in that capacity for about seven years. In 2007, he became the executive secretary for the Michigan Conference and in early 2018 accepted the call to be the new president. We re excited that he s here. We're also excited that you're here. That's right, you. So as we worship together through the music and the Word, our prayer is that you would sense God's presence with you today and that you would respond to Him. Welcome. -Rodlie Ortiz PIONEER MEMORIAL CHURCH 8655 UNIVERSITY BOULEVARD, BERRIEN SPRINGS, MI 49103 OFFICE HOURS Monday Thursday (8 to 5) Friday (8 to 12) PHONE 269.471.3133 FAX 269.471.6152 LIVE STREAMING www.pmchurch.org Sabbath 1 1:45 AM ONLINE www.pmchurch.org www.newperceptions.tv RADIO WAUS 90.7 FM Sabbath 1 1:30 AM CONNECT CARD Scan this code to receive this week's Connect Card. THE FOURTH WATCH BLOG THE LAST FRONTIER BY DWIGHT K. NELSON T his week I had an inspirational experience spending time with young adults at a global retreat for missionaries who are sold out on Jesus and passionately maxed out on His mission to reach every unreached people group on this planet. The organization I visited is a cutting-edge mission and missionary enterprise that has targeted unentered or unreached swathes of the human race heretofore seemingly untouched by the everlasting gospel of Jesus Christ. This elite organization (OK, I admit, that's my word, not theirs but "elite" in my humble opinion is any strategic effort to go where no man or woman has gone before in the spread of the religion of Jesus) with global offices now in the U.S., Canada, Brazil and South Africa, has mobilized these 200+ individuals to many nations (some that must remain nameless), urban centers and rural mountainous zones, and secular towns and cities in East and West Europe all because of our Lord's command, "'Go into all the nations'" (Matthew 28:19). While I've been preaching morning and evening to these missionaries, the inspiring testimonies from these families as I sit with them in the sprawling dining hall each day stir up my own soul. Not only are they mastering a foreign tongue whose alphabet is unlike anything you and I have witnessed, their stories of friendship building and gospel-living and Jesus-telling are often times nothing short of miraculous. Miraculous not only because of the very evident "fingerprints" of the Holy Spirit on the supernatural fruit of their efforts, but miraculous because when strangers speaking another language and hailing from a distant shore and culture set up house in hostile territories and then through incarnational loving on behalf of Christ begin to win friends for Him the only word that makes sense to me is "miraculous.""and the Word became flesh and dwelt among us" (John 1:14). And He still is through these intrepid missionaries. Timothy and Abigail (not their GO world an make disciples of all 4 PIONEER MEMORIAL CHURCH

names) have taken up residence and mission in a country and culture so foreign and so hostile you and I would laugh off the suggestion God was calling us there. And yet with no friends or prior acquaintances in that nation (nobody meaning zero, nada, no one), this courageous couple has set up house and "gospel shop" in a beneath-the-radar sort of existence, quietly loving and cautiously awaiting the divine moment for simple witness. "You will hear a voice behind you saying..." is how the modus operandi works (see Isaiah 30:21). And work the Spirit of God does. With fruitage measured in the optics and coinage of the Kingdom. If life for you has become terribly predictable and/or numinously unsatisfying, God's solution for you may be to simply double down where He has you now and with a prayer for added grace carry on in your faithful surrender to His daily provi- «dences and guidance. But if the Spirit of God is stirring up your soul with the compelling commission "'As the Father has sent Me, so send I you'" (John 20:21) then it may be that this organization can become your divine door to obeying Jesus' command, "'Go preach [and use words if necessary] the gospel to all creation'" (Mark 16:15). For more information, go online and visit www.afmonline.org. Get in touch with their headquarters. The team of professionals there are constantly probing new Kingdom frontiers for young and not so young prospective missionaries to claim for Christ our Lord. Who knows? God may already be planning to send you to the last frontier left where your only hope will be His promise, "'Lo I am with you always, even unto the end of the world. Amen" (Matthew 18:20). GOD'S FINANCIAL PEACE R omans 12:2 cautions us, Do "Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind." mind. When it comes to personal finances, here s what the pattern of this world looks like in North America: Average Consumer Debt $180k Mortgages, $51k Student Loans, $29k Auto Loans, and $16k Credit Cards. 78% live paycheck to paycheck. 67% would struggle to pay for a $1,000 emergency. This winter over 60 people attended Dave Ramsey s 9-week Financial Peace University class here at church. Many lives were transformed as we learned how to handle money using biblical principles. We covered topics such as: saving, cash flow planning, dumping debt, the power of marketing on buying decisions, the role of insurance, retirement and college planning, real estate and mortgages, and giving. Most of our class consisted of college students, yet through prayer, hard work, and application of knowledge gained, over the course 6 PIONEER MEMORIAL CHURCH

PIONEER LIFE of our class the average family paid off $1,900 in non-mortgage debt and saved $1,100. Some built emergency fund savings for the first time in their lives. Nearly 40% now give substantially more. Some shared that their marriages were strengthened as they worked as one towards meeting financial goals. Others were excited to take knowledge gained and share it with their churches and families. A single mother who is a widow attended the classes with her daughter. This mother shared through tears that, even though she struggles to make ends meet on her income, the greatest blessing that she received from the class is knowing that her daughter s financial future will be secure because she learned to handle money God s way. I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me. Only think of Israel's long, hard pilgrimage in the wilderness: The hymn's images of "Bread of heaven," "the healing stream," "the fire and cloudy pillar," etc., are secured by fascinating historical anchors. Themes of severe exile and hard pilgrimage are found in the biblical Exodus, and extend MUSIC ALIVE "OF PILGRIMAGE AND GUIDANCE" into today's world, too. For all on earth, life is indeed a pilgrimage of one sort or another. Thinking back to the "Guide Me" hymn, today's Closing Voluntary is based on the hymn's "strong deliverer" imagery, encouraging confidence in God's leading and deliverance. So may we go with "cloud" and "fire" guidance from the God of compassionate grace. APRIL 21, 2018 9

The Hoffers had always been faithful tithers, but were struggling financially and also knew that God has a thousand ways to provide for His faithful children. About that time, Whirlpool changed its dress code to casual; now her husband had several nice suits that he no longer needed.
