DETAILED ITINERARY TRIP ITINERARY Day 1: Chandigarh-Shimla-Narkanda (Approx 220Km, 6Hrs Drive) Start your journey from the beautiful city Chandigarh. The road from Chandigarh to Shimla is broad enough to roar your bikes. After 45 mints drive we enter the mountain area and you start experiencing the tour on the beautiful roads of Himachal Pradesh. With couple of stoppages reach Narkanda via Shimla. Dinner at Narkanda; overnight stay in Hotel / Camps with bonfire. Day 2: Narkanad-Rampur-Rekong Peo (Apprx 150Kms 6Hrs Drive) Early in the morning walk to the peak of the Hatu Peak. Enjoy the mesmerizing sunrise view above 10,500ft; above the clouds. After breakfast we leave for Rekong Peo which is approx 150km from Narkanda. Reckong Peo is situated at an altitude of 2670 m from the sea level, located 235 km from Shimla. It is the District Headquarter having a panoramic view of Kinner Kailash. Kinner Kailash mountain is regarded as one of the mythical homes of Lord Shiva, here is a 79 feet high rock formation that resembles Sivalinga. Overnight stay at Hotel with Dinner. Day 3: Rekong Peo - Nako (Approx 110Kms 5Hrs Drive) Breakfast in Rekong Peo & then leave for Nako. On route visit Poo; is renowned for its natural beauty, green fields, apricot orchards, vineyards and almond trees. Passing through Poo reach Nako. Nako at a height of 3600mtrs (11800ft) a beautiful village located by the banks of lake, visit the village, the Buddhist temples with stucco images & murals and a rock where a footprint like impression is ascribed to Padmasambhava. Overnight in Hotel with Dinner. Day 4: Nako - Gue - Tabo (Approx 90Km, 4Hrs Drive) Start an easy day with morning tea, bread & butter & leave for Gue 45km from Nako. Located near the Indo-Tibet border, the village has a naturally preserved unique Mummy, which is more than 500 years old and is an attraction for the visitors. The village Gue is situated at a height of approx 10,000 feet above the sea level. The mummy in the village is placed in a room constructed on a hilltop. It is believed that this mummy is of a Lama, who died at the age of around 45 years and was found in a sitting posture. Presently, the mummy is kept in an open glass box. Now leave for Tabo. Tabo situated on the left bank of the Piti river at an altitude of 10004 feet. The biggest attraction of this village, for that matter of the whole valley, is the Tabo monastery. Tabo monastery was founded in 996 AD by the great teacher Richensang-po, Tabo is renowned for its breathtaking murals and stucco images and is often called The Ajanta of the Himalayas. TRIP ITINERARY After Breakfast at Tabo move towards Dhankar. Dhankar is a Gompa, a Buddhist temple in the district of Lahaul and Spiti in India. It is situated at an altitude of 3894mtrs (12774 ft) in the Spiti Valley between the towns of Kaza and Tabo. The complex is built on a 1000-foot (300-metre) high spur overlooking the confluence of the Spiti and Pin Rivers - one of the world's most spectacular settings for a gompa. Dhankar was built as a fort monastery on the Central Tibetan pattern. It was reported to have had 90 monks in 1855. Dhankar was the traditional capital of the Spiti Valley Kingdom during the 17th century. After visiting the Dhankar Monastery, move towards Dhankar Lake, a 2Hrs up and down walk. Take a Dip and move back to Dhankar. Lunch at Dhankar and leave for Kaza. Overnight stay at Kaza with Dinner. Evening at Leisure. Day 6: Kaza-Key-Komic-Langza-Komic-Kaza (Approx 70Kms 4Hrs Drive) Enjoy Breakfast at Kaza and then move towards Key, Langza & Komic. Key Gompa is a Tibetan Buddhist monastery located on top of a hill at an altitude of 4,166 metres (13,668 ft) above sea level, close to the Spiti River.It is the biggest monastery of Spiti Valley and a religious training centre for Lamas. It reportedly had 100 monks in 1855. The tiny hamlets of Langza and Komic symbolize the human spirit. Now time to move to Langza village, situated at an altitude of 4400 meters is divided into 2 sections, namely Langza Yongma (Lower) and Langza Gongma (upper). This Homogeneous Buddhist village belongs to the Sakyapa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. Langza houses a population of 137 in 33 households. The mainstay of this village in the olden days was mud craft. Now we move to Komic crossing Langza, at Komic you will witness mesmerizing view of handful peaks (all above 6000 meters). Komic situated at an elevation of 4513 meters is one of the highest villages in Asia and literally means the eye of a snow cock. One of the world's highest monasteries (4513 meters), called "Komic Lundup Chhemo" is situated in this village and belongs to the Sakyapa sect of Tibetan Buddhism. After spending time at Komic move back to Kaza. Overnight stay at Kaza with Dinner. Day 7: Kaza - Kunzum Pass - Chandertaal Lake (Approx 100Kms 5Hrs Drive) Leave Kaza early In the morning for Chandertaal Lake. On route visit Losar 60Kms from Kaza the last village of Spiti Valley & enter Lahaul Valley. Have breakfast at Losar & enjoy the scenic view. Then leave for Chandertaal Lake & on route witness Kunzum Pass. Kunzum Pass (4,590 m or 15,060 ft), is a high mountain pass which connects the Kullu Valley and Lahul Valley with the Spiti Valley of Himachal Pradesh. Kunzum Pass is popular with tourists visiting Lahaul, Spiti and Manali. It offers spectacular views of Bara-Sigri glacier, the second longest glacier in the world. Kunzum Pass doesn't have hotel or any option to stay as in lodges, resorts or budget hotels. Spend some time at Kunzum Pass & then move to Chandertaal Lake. TRIP ITINERARY Moon), or Chandra Tal, is situated at an altitude of about 4,300 metres (14,100 ft) in the Himalayas. Mountains of scree overlook the lake on one side, and a magnificent cirque presents a view on the other. The most surprising thing about this lake is that there is no visible source of this lake but there is a visible outlet of this lake which means that water to this lake comes from underground. Reach Chandertaal by late afternoon. Lunch at Chandertaal. Overnight in camps with dinner & bonfire. Day 8: Chandertaal - Rohtang - Manali (Approx 155kms, 8hrs) Today early in the morning we leave for Manali, crossing Rohtang Pass which is at a height of 3,979 mtrs and then meandering our way down to Gramphu. From Chandertal Lake to Gramphu its a dirt road but very scenic providing views of Bara Shigri Glacier and CB ranges. Our first stoppage would be at Batal for Breakfast & then move to Chatru. Lunch at Chatru & then we ride along the Chandra river 14km more towards Gramphu. Then drive uphill to Rohtang and reach Manali. Overnight stay at Hotel with Dinner. Day 9: Manali - Chandigarh (Approx 320kms, 10hrs) This is the last day of the drive and a lengthy one. Leave early in the morning for Chandigarh.
