February bulletin Seoul priory, Missionary Benendictine sisters of Tutzing No. 256

The beginning of February The feastday of presentation of the Lord Novitiate posed and Junior sisters before their status changes coming soon, that is on the feast of St. Scholastica. On Ashwednesday, Sr. Philippa was reading for Sr. Rosemarie in the liturgy of Word. We each received the lent book that each had picked for this lent and the prayer card of particular intention. 30days bible retreat 6 sisters, Sr. Gemmamarie Baek, Sr. Timotea Pak, Sr. Benedicta Pak, Sr. Isaac Yang, Sr. Marievita Bang and Sr. Marie Lucy as the preparation before entering the intensified course for her final profession. We thank Sr. Lena for her bible guiding and Sr. Lidwina for interview and care for what they need.

Formation matters SSr. Caritas Seok has renewed her vow the day before the solemn feast in the morning and Post. Maria Yu has got the ceremony in the evening for entering canonical novitiate period. Sr. Rosemarie addressed for them each. Dear Sr. Caritas! congratulation on your renewal Sr. Caritas! We pray for you that on the journey God has made for you, in whatever you do, do it in Jesus, with Jesus, for Jesus. Just learn to rely on the Lord your beginning, middle and ending of the work you do and it is HE who begins, goes on and finish them. You would know HIM wider and deeper only then. I can tell you your short-comings, your lack of abilities would be the very pass God s grace come down to you. Nothing is lacking in God and nothing can be done without God! Be on your guard not to be swept away by anybody or anything, then the Lord would dwell on your heart as your spouse who leads us to the Perpetual love and life in God. We community pray for you too and be with you on your journey, Again may God leads you in anytime and any circumstances Dear novice Maria! I recalled the prayer your mother had prayed for you. Jesus, Let my daughter fall in love with YOU! Your mother knew Love with Jesus is the strongest line to reach the perpetual happiness Let Jesus be your first counselor, ask HIM, converse with HIM, care for HIM, depend on HIM when you are in good mood or bad. Let Jesus be you only vision, only hope.. Be clothed with Jesus.. Again congratulation! First profession On the feastday of St. Scholastica two novices, Emmauela Choi and Lucia Kang made their first vow in the presence of their family members and many sisters who had come from out-stations. Both had come from Southern provinces that their family members had to have arrived the day before at Seoul for attending the celebration of their precious daughters. Everyone there was excited waiting for the announcement of new religious names of theirs. Nov. Lucia became Sr. Jihye Kang meaning Wisdom in English and actually it is her given name having her feastday on the Annunciation of the Lord, 25 of March. Nov. Emmanuella remains with her Baptismal name as it is and her nameday Nativity, Dec. 25. It seems they had desire to continue to live the lives of their novitiate, that would be clearly not easy but still full of hope for being a faithful servant of the Lord and joy being a member of the beloved community.

We thank all our sister who made hidden efforts for bringing them up to now, Sr. Christina Jeon, current novice mistress, the former Sr. Francisco Lee, Sr. Martina for making habits of theirs, Sr. Gratia Lee and Sr. Celina for the wonderful liturgy and decoration and all our sisters for their prayer and unknown sacrifices for them. Especially Fr. Dyonisio Min, our daily mass celebration priest has had so much care and fatherly love for our novitiate. He was one of the most happiest person on the day. In all thing that God may be glorified, Amen~. 40th Anniversory Sr. Dyonisia had her 40th anniversary of profession on the same day, Solemn feast of St Scholastica. She had come to P.H. to join the celebration of the first profession then someone reminded us her anniversary. She was surprised at the whilte nosegay unexpected and posed before camera. We wish you keeping your big smile in the community to be happy as it has been before the Lord Sr. Terra An was announced for mission sending to Dresden community belonged to Tutzing motherhouse. Her job would be the care for Korean faithful community there and the date is scheduled in middle of April for sending. We hope from the experiences from the junior mistress you would be a good instrument for people in God s hands. Sr. Angela Park also was for Bulgaria community after 2 years of home priory staying. - Wherever you go it is the flowerbed for you, the unique flowerbed though it might be seen the thorn bushes sometimes since it is the Lord who knows better than us what is the best for us. quoted from the poet flowerbed by Gusang.

+ Notice + Marco Park(Park Heewon, 85)The father of Sr. Pasca Park returned to God on Feb. 13 early morning. Sr. Pasca could not come for his funeral and many sisters from Seoul priory paid visit for prayer or his funeral and wished God had embraced him in his peaceful arms. Sr. Pasca wrote the common letter to sisters of Seoul priory. Sr. Rosemarie Hwang attending the prioress meeting in Rome P.H. Community were praying for Sr. Rosemarie Hwang to say good-bye for her trip to Rome for attending 2017 prioress meeting in February. She was kind to say thanks to Sr. Rita Lee for her making new jacket. On the priory day, March 13 Sr. Rosemaried Hwang would share with sisters..

Inauguration of Suguipo community in Jeju diocese The community set up in Suquipo city in Jeju dioces has been established as outreach with 3 sisters, one for working at the Pyosun parish, one for the local social center as a licensed social worker and another sister for caring the house maintenance matters. The community was recognized as outreach by Generalate since it is formed of 3 sisters on the work demanded for the time being. Now in faraway diocese of Jeju 7 of our sisters have two houses working in counselling center(2 from Jeju house), in working in curia dioecesana (1 Jeju house), for a parish(1 Suguipo house), in the local social center(1 suguipo) and for house care (an elderly sister from each house). Branching out of sisters of Benedict kindergarten to Maoro building As one of the solution for the space matter of Priory house 4 sisters working for Benedict Kindergarten has moved out nearby Maoro building occupying 3 rd and 4 th floors. As the members of Sangji retreat center they would join the daily mass celebration with P.H. and Solemn feast. With another students sister the community is formed of 5 sisters. Graduations Seongnam Bundo Kindergarten (photo above) has made their last graduation ceremony since the decision making was made in priory discussions that the kindergarten could not go on in many different grounds. Sr. Hyogyung Choi made a wondful graduation address for farewell. Don t forget We love you! We bless you! (photo right) On Feb. 15 Benedict kindergarten had their beautiful graduation celebration mass in P.H. chapel.

In the address of president teacher Sr. Eoujin Kim asked the children not to forget the memories of being loved and having blessings that we, sisters, teachers and friends continues to pray for them and remember it when the school-life becomes hard. Seongnam house history Seongnam bundo(means Bendicit) was one of the services for the poor from Seongnam station that the area had been the slum district created by the marginalized chased from the center of the city in 1970 s and 1980 s. Seongnam house had been known for the brave activities from it s beginning in 1980 for the marginalized in our Society advocating the voiceless women, laborers, children and social movements while the military dictatorship had prevailed going for economic development above all, repressing the poor and the educated demanding democratic reformation in politics all over the country. Recent years our activities were faced to re-evaluate because our society has changed a lot and the area also got no more demands for our services for the marginalized. After several priory discussions the kindergarten and the children s house were decided to close up on the recommendation from M. Angela s visitation 2015. The children s house is scheduled to shup down in 2018 Another house for the children from the broken family in Gocheok house had ended up this year and children were arranged for best environments according to the age and situation of each. Newly ordained 3 priests from Seoul Achdioces On Feb. 3, 3 newly ordained priests had come to celebrate mass greeting Seoul priory. It was arranged that one of them is son of one of our oblates group members and a student in Benedict bible school. They came to join our vespel followed by celebration mass and blessings. One of our man guest from oblation group has started sobbing up in the middle of the mass that it was something like overwhelming experience seeing beautiful 3 young priests were on the altar serving the Lord. Nobody needs to ask him why he was crying so hard since each of us all had the same feeling of the grace of our God.
