The Encourager Tuttle Christian Church June 2018 Foundations NEIL S NOTES Mission Statement: Save the Lost, Strengthen the Saved, Serve Others in the name of Jesus Christ. Therefore everyone who hears these words of mine and puts them into practice is like a wise man who built his house on the rock. Matthew 7:24 Arise and Building. This is the phrase the Chairman of the Elders used after seeing the recent progress on the new Youth and Education Building being added to our campus. What a great response to remind us that God is at work at TCC. Service Times Sunday Donut Fellowship 8:45 a.m. 1st Service / SS 9:15 a.m. 2nd Service / SS 10:30 a.m. Wednesday Various Activities this Summer for Kids Adding the building goes far beyond having more space to meet, but is seen as an opportunity to increase our outreach and our ministry not only to our youth, but to the whole church and the community of Tuttle. We know that the most important part of building any structure is beginning with a strong foundation that is built on something immovable. By placing piers in the ground that lock into the bedrock and adding rebar to strengthen and tie together the concrete being poured, the foundation will be immovable and strong enough to support the building, giving it a secure anchor in the face of Oklahoma storms. The same is true for us spiritually. We are to be in the Word of God the foundation of the Truth in which we place our trust and by which everything we do is governed. By hearing the Word of God and holding fast to it and the person on which our faith stands Jesus Christ, we will be able to hold fast when storms threaten us, as well. As we move into the summer months of vacations and activities, let us remember to arise each morning and be in the Word of God. Let us not merely listen, but daily practice what it says. Let us continue to let it build us up into the people of God. Arise and Building day by day, Neil B. Davis
The Encourager Kids Zone What to Bring or Not to Bring to Camp Sooner this Month The most important and most often neglected thing that we ask of you is to observe the guidelines of what to bring to camp (and what to leave home). The first thing that we ask you to have your kids leave home (and, yes, we know this is hard) is their cell phone. We know all the reasons kids would want or need their phones, but we feel that cell phones are a huge distraction while at camp. We cannot possibly police everyone s phone usage, so it is simpler to ask that everyone leave them at home. If you need to contact your child while he or she is at camp, you may call us and we will either relay a message to your camper or have them call you back on our camp phone. If cell phones are brought to camp, they will be taken at the beginning of the week and will not be returned until after prayer circle on the final day. Other things we ask you to have your camper leave at home are electronic devices (includes cd players, radios, ipods, MP3 players, Blackberries, etc), fireworks, and items of value (like expensive clothes or irreplaceable items). Bringing any drugs, alcohol or any tobacco product is forbidden and doing so will result in your child being sent home immediately. You may be asking yourself what your child DOES need to bring to camp. Here s a good list: Clothes & extra shoes (include clothes to play in, get dirty in, and swimwear) - Swim shoes are recommended as well! Towels/washcloths for showers and/or swimming Twin sized bedding or sleeping bag & a pillow Toiletries (soap, shampoo, toothbrush, etc) Extra Money for canteen and missions Bible, pens, paper/note pads, etc. Any medication that your child takes regularly, labeled with dosage & intervals in a Ziploc bag. Flashlight Sunscreen & Bug spray Optional Items: WATER BOTTLE, alarm clock, extension cord/power strip, camera, goggles, sports equipment (like shoes, gloves, bats, braces, refillable water bottle, etc.) - Put your child s name on everything! Dress Code Camp dress code is fairly simple and straightforward modesty will prevail in all matters. Girls must wear one piece swimsuits OR wear a dark t-shirt over a two piece. All sleeveless shirts must be at least three fingers wide at the shoulders. No bare midriffs or slouching shorts. Guys must wear a tank top under any sleeveless t-shirt with expanded arm holes. Shorts must be fingertip length. You must wear a cover up to the pool and back, along with shoes. If you still have questions about what is appropriate, please ask. Hey Everyone! Prayer Ministry The building has been started, and we need lots of prayer! We are asking individuals or families to sign up for one week and commit to stand watch in prayer over our church and our new youth and education building. The week prior to your designated week, you will receive a reminder along with a Watchmen on the Walls prayer guide to assist you in your prayer time. There are several weeks available on the calendars in the foyer. Please stop by this Sunday to choose a week! Cheryl Williams Prayer Ministry Coordinator Heartfelt Ministry We will be continuing registration for the next season of Heartfelt Friends during the month of June. Sign up and registration sheets are available in the foyer. Be sure to stop by and sign up if you plan to participate again next season. If you know of someone who would benefit from this ministry or who would like to know more about it, invite them to stop by the registration table for more information. MISSIONS Summer Vacation. Now that is music to my ears. I love summer vacation. Summer vacation is a time to relax, unwind and have fun. It s easy to put our lives in cruise control and let the warm breezes of summer blow us about aimlessly. Let s not drift through this summer though. Let s be intentional with our summer. Let s commit to making a difference this summer. We will have June, July, and part of August to make that impact. What kind of impact can you make this summer? Let me give you a couple of ideas that could reach all around the world. 1. Adopt a Missionary - Pick one of our missionaries we support and start communicating with them. You could write them letters, emails, or message them on Facebook. Find out what their days are like and maybe even what they do in the summertime. For more info on how to contact the missionaries visit TCC Missions on Facebook or stop by the Missions Wall on Sunday mornings. 2. Attend a Missions Meeting - Be a part of the missions team at TCC. We get to hear stories about what God is doing all around the world. We meet the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 7:15pm (June 13, July 11, August 15, September 12, October 10, November 14, December 12). Have a great summer! Do something amazing!
