* 2 Kings 6:15-17 2 Kings 6:15 When the servant of the man of God rose early in the morning and went out, behold, an army with horses and chariots was all around the city. And the servant said, Alas, my master! What shall we do? 16 He said, Do not be afraid, for those who are with us are more than those who are with them. 17 Then Elisha prayed and said, O LORD, please open his eyes that he may see. So the LORD opened the eyes of the young man, and he saw, and behold, the mountain was full of horses and chariots of fire all around Elisha. *Song Whom Shall I Fear Tomlin/Cash You hear me when I call, You are my morning song Though darkness fills the night It cannot hide the light, Whom shall I fear You crush the enemy underneath my feet, You are my sword and shield Though troubles linger still, Whom shall I fear I know Who goes before me, I know Who stands behind The God of angel armies is always by my side The One who reigns forever, He is a friend of mine The God of angel armies is always by my side My strength is in Your name, For You alone can save You will deliver me, Yours is the victory Whom shall I fear, Whom shall I fear Chorus And nothing formed against me shall stand You hold the whole world in Your hands I'm holding on to Your promises, You are faithful, You are faithful Nothing formed against me shall stand You hold the whole world in Your hands I'm holding on to Your promises, You are faithful, You are faithful, You are faithful Chorus x2 The God of angel armies is always by my side 3
Offertory Prayer, Music, & Offering (The Member/Guest book: Please sign and pass to others on your row. Note the names of any guests or people you do not know and greet them later.) Psalm 3 adapted to the tune of Kingsfold (Words from The Book of Psalms for Worship, ½ stanza added for tune Kingsfold) O Lord, my foes are mul-ti-plied; against me many rise! They say of me, He has no help, though he on God relies. But You, my shield and glory, Lord, my head You lifted high. And from His holy hill the Lord gave answer to my cry. I lay down, slept, and woke a-gain; the Lord sustains my life. I will not fear ten thousand strong surrounding me with strife. Lord, rise and save me, O my God; for You subdue my foes! You strike the jaw of wicked men, and smash their teeth with blows. De-liv-er-ance is of the Lord, to grant it as He will; O may the blessing that You give be on Your people still. We are dependent on your grace, purchased at such great price. We rest on your rich promises, and love for us in Christ. A Pastoral Prayer Hymn #435 What a Friend We Have in Jesus Scriven/Converse What a Friend we have in Jesus, all our sins and griefs to bear! What a privilege to carry everything to God in prayer! O what peace we often forfeit, O what needless pain we bear, All because we do not carry everything to God in prayer! Have we trials and temptations? Is there trouble anywhere? We should never be discouraged, take it to the Lord in prayer. Can we find a friend so faithful who will all our sorrows share? Jesus knows our every weakness, take it to the Lord in prayer. Are we weak and heavy laden, cumbered with a load of care? Precious Savior, still our Refuge take it to the Lord in prayer. Do thy friends despise, forsake thee? Take it to the Lord in prayer; In His arms He ll take and shield thee, Thou wilt find a solace there. 4
(Dismissal of the children up through Kindergarten only) Introduction of (Michael) Chad Watkins Wife: Michelle; Children: Esther, Isabelle, Molly * The Reading of the Word of God Psalm 3 The Proclamation of the Word Sound Sleep for Troubled Saints Rev. Chad Watkins * Hymn 26 A Mighty Fortress is Our God Luther A mighty fortress is our God, a bulwark never failing; Our helper He amid the flood of mortal ills prevailing. For still our ancient foe doth seek to work us woe His craft and pow r are great, and, armed with cruel hate, On earth is not his equal. Did we in our own strength confide, our striving would be losing, Were not the right man on our side, the man of God s own choosing. Dost ask who that may be? Christ Jesus, it is He Lord Sabaoth His name, from age to age the same, And He must win the battle. And tho this world, with devils filled, should threaten to undo us, We will not fear, for God hath willed His truth to triumph thru us. The prince of darkness grim, we tremble not for him His rage we can endure, for lo, his doom is sure: One little word shall fell him. That word above all earthly pow rs, no thanks to them, abideth; The Spirit and the gifts are ours thru Him who with us sideth. Let goods and kindred go, this mortal life also The body they may kill; God s truth abideth still: His kingdom is forever. * The Benediction 5
