ORDER OF WORSHIP March 24, 2013 10:00 AM BRASS PRELUDE Wellesley Village Brass *PROCESSIONAL ANTHEM Hosanna Nkosi Phezulu Anders Nyberg Village People Vocalists, Village Drumming Circle *CALL TO WORSHIP Chris Braudaway-Bauman Leader: Come! From the city streets. People: Let us join the eager crowd that gathers to honor Jesus! Leader: Come! From your busy homes and places of business. People: Let us put down our work in joyful celebration! Leader: Come! Lay down your sorrows and worries. People: Let us turn our eyes toward the Savior whom God has sent. Leader: Let all join in joyful song. People: Hosanna to the Son of David, the King of Israel! Leader: Blessed is the one who comes in the name of the Lord! People: Hosanna in the highest! Leader: Hosanna! People: Hosanna! Hosanna! CALL TO CONFESSION PRAYER OF CONFESSION Leader: Almighty God, something of each of us is present in the Palm Sunday crowds who greeted Jesus on the way to the temple. People: Like the throng in Jerusalem, we profess our faith in moments of enthusiasm and deny our faith in moments of stress. Leader: We sing your praises when we are among others who praise you. People: But we keep silent when it is uncomfortable to express our faith. Leader: We turn away from you, too busy to seek you, too selfcentered to obey you. People: We betray those we love and those who have loved us. Leader: We ask for your continued patience with us. People: Help us to be honest with ourselves and with you, and turn us again to Jesus Christ, who redeems all things, even as we offer these silent prayers of confession.

New Member: I promise, with the help of God. Prayer

Welcome by the Congregation People: We welcome you with joy as a partner in the common life of this church. We promise you our friendship and prayers as we share the hopes and labors of the Church of Jesus Christ. By the power of the Holy Spirit may we continue to grow together in God s knowledge and love and to be witnesses of our risen Savior. The Sharing of the Church Covenant Unison: We are banded together as a Christian church to maintain the worship of God, to proclaim the gospel of Christ, to develop in all people a consciousness of their relations and duties to God and to each other, and to inspire them with love for truth, passion for righteousness, and enthusiasm for service. To this end we pledge our loyalty to Christ and covenant with each other to express His Spirit in our individual and corporate life; to live together as Christians and to submit ourselves to the government of this church, working, giving, praying for its increase, its purity, its peace and seeking in every way to make it a power for the building up of the kingdom of God.
