Dear Parishioners, We are back in the ordinary time of the year. This weekend we celebrate the feast of the Holy Trinity. We come face to face with the mystery of God, one God in three persons. St. Augustine gives an explanation that might throw some light on this mystery. He says, Just look at yourself. You see that you exist and that you have a mind and a will. These are the three dimensions of who you are, yet you are one. Each one of us is also a kind of trinity, three in one and one in three. We will never understand and grasp fully who God really is. But, we all know something about God because of what He revealed to us in the person of Jesus Christ! We have just completed another successful school year at St Anselm. I would like to thank Mrs. Kim Orendorf and the members of the faculty for all their hard work. Peter chose Saint Christopher as his patron saint. He explained that as the patron of travelers, he hopes St. Christopher will accompany him on his journey of faith. Green Tip: As we enjoy the trails and beaches of beautiful Marin, let s bring along a trash bag to gather up the debris we see left behind. Last September, 10,800 lb. of trash was collected on a Marin beach on Coastal Clean-Up Day; let s get ahead of that this summer! TREASURES FROM OUR TRADITION It is often heard that today's observance is an "idea feast," and that it is somewhat difficult to grasp its meaning. Other great solemnities, such as Christmas and Easter, have an easily grasped core. Yet, even though the Trinity is at the heart of our faith, firmly declared in the Creed since the Council of Nicea in 325, we are used to having people shrug and say, "Well, it's a mystery." Perhaps it is more helpful to think of this as a "relationship feast," since it unveils our deepest identity. Dorothy Day was a great social reformer, pacifist, and ardent lover of the Trinity. When people told her that she would certainly be canonized one day (the process is indeed underway), she protested dismissively by remarking that people were raising a fuss just because she was not afraid to talk about God. She loved the Trinity, and treasured the traditional icon for the feast, also known as "The Hospitality of Abraham," depicting the three angelic beings seated at a table tilted toward the viewer and laden with bread and wine. For her, the Trinity revealed the heart of the Catholic life, three C's if you will: community, communication, and communion. That was not an "idea" for her, but what it means to be created in the image of the Triune God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.

The 7th graders at St. Anselm School would like to say THANK YOU to our local San Anselmo Armstrong Garden Center! Armstrong donated 12 bags of soil and extended a generous discount to us for the plants and other materials. With Mrs. Pisciotta's guidance, the 7th graders spent several days after school working toward this beautification project at the Bello Gardens retirement home across the street from our school. The students spent the first session weeding and cleaning up the outdoor space, and then with the input of the residents and kitchen staff at Bello, the 7th graders installed a garden that includes vegetables and herbs that will not only be beautiful but nourishing as well This project was made possible by the generosity of our friends at Armstrong, and we want to again say THANK YOU to Armstrong Garden Center for your support St. Anselm 7th grade Class of 2018 Armstrong Garden Center
