Being Steadfast upon the True Methodology By Shaykh Ubayd bin Abdullaah al - Jabiree Translated by Abbas Abu Yahya 2

Question: What are the means which aid being Steadfast upon the True Methodology? The Answer: 'Of course, these means are many and they are easy for the one who seeks them. They have no hardships as to prevent following them and achieving them. The first : is seeking forgiveness and repenting a lot. 1 Indeed the Messenger of Allaah - sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam - would seek forgiveness a hundred times in one day. 2 He - sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam - is a good example for every Muslim male and female. 3 The Prophet - sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam - used to do this, even though he had been forgiven his previous sins and his future ones. 1 See https://followingthesunnah.wordpress.com/2014/07/31/the-excellence-of-tawheed-istighfar/ 2 From al Aghra -Radhi Allaahu anhu- who said I heard the Messenger of Allaah -sallallaahu alayhi wa sallamsaying:! توبوا أیھا یا الناس الله إلى فا ني واستغفروه مرة ماي ة الله إلى أتوب وأستغفره یوم كل في O you people repent to Allaah and seek His forgiveness, since indeed I repent to Allaah and I seek His forgiveness a hundred times every day. [Collected by Ahmad & Albaani declared it to have a saheeh Isnad in Saheehah no. 1452] 3 Allaah Ta'ala said:<< Indeed in the Messenger of Allaah you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allaah and the Last Day and remembers Allaah much. >> 3

Second: being continuous upon the obligatory worship, and increasing a lot of the optional worship, since this causes the slave of Allaah to acquire the love of Allaah - Azza wa Jal. The fruits of Allaah loving a person is that Allaah protects his hearing, his sight, his hands and his feet, so all his movements are for Allaah -Subhanahu wa Ta'ala. Third: a lot of Dhikr of Allaah 4, from saying: 1-Tasbeeh (SubhanAllaah), 2-Takbir (Allaahu Akbar), 3-Tahleel (La ilaha ila Allaah), 4-Tahmeed (Alhamdulillah), 5- saying La hawla wa la quwwata illa billaa, (There is no capability nor is there any power except with Allaah). Fourth: reciting the Qur'aan a lot. 5 4 It is mentioned in al-musnad, Sunnan Tirmidhi and Mustadrak al-hakim from the hadeeth of Abdullaah bin Amr bin al- Aaas -Radi Allaahu anhu- who said the Messenger of Allaah -sallallaahu alayhi wa sallam- said: There is no person on earth who says: la illaah ila Allaah, wa Allaahu akbar, wa Subhana Allaahi, wal hamdu lillaahi, La hawla wa la quwwata illa billaa, (There is no capability nor is there any power except with Allaah) except that his sins are expiated even if they were more than the foam on the sea. Tirmidhi declared it to be Hasan, and al-hakim authenticated it and Dhahabi agreed with him and al-albaani declared it to be Hasan. Al-Musnad, Sunnan Tirmidhi, Mustadrak al-hakim & Saheeh al-jamia no. 5636 5 Shamsuddeen Muhammad bin Abee Bakr Ibn Qayyim aj-jawzeeyah (d.751 A.H.) -Rahimullaah- said: 4

Fifth: accompanying the righteous a lot and sitting in their gatherings when they take place. For example, visiting them in their homes, gathering with them in the Masajid, accompanying them on journeys, of course those are permissible journeys. The righteous only travel on journeys which are permissible like Hajj, Umrah and other beneficial journeys. Seriously seeking knowledge, if it is facilitated for you, so strive and have concern for seeking Sharia knowledge.' [Taken from https://mobile.twitter.com/abuzeiad470/status/393101395823312896] 'If the people knew what was in reciting the Qur'aan with reflecting upon it they would definitely busy themselves with it, rather than busying themselves with everything other than the Qur'aan. Reading the Ayaat while pondering over them is better than finishing reading it without reflecting upon it and understanding it. This is more beneficial for the heart, and greater in extent to achieving Eemaan and to taste the sweetness of the Qur'aan.... ' [Miftah Dar-As-Sa'ada 1/553] 5
