St. Mary on the Hill July 9, 2017 In preparation for the celebration of the 100 th Anniversary of our Parish, we gathered as a faith community in September of 2016 to discern where God might be calling us to move forward as committed disciples. The Parish Leadership worked long hours over the ensuing months to give order to your insights and discernments. As I prepare to take my leave of this wonderful faith community at the end of the month, I want to use my last few bulletin articles to share with you the fruit of that labor. My prayer is that you with God s grace will have the zeal and energy to put this vision into action. Our Sacred Purpose We gather as a Catholic community to experience God s sacramental love and share it with others through evangelization, faith formation and compassionate works. The Values that will Guide Us Stewardship - All that we have is a gift from God, in thanksgiving we return gifts to the Lord and share our blessings with others. ministries Service - We stand with those who are hurting, in need, alone or afraid Hospitality - We share Christ s love in a welcoming spirit with everyone we meet spirit Prayer - Develop a personal relationship with God which is the foundation of all we do. The Vision that Ignites Us - Invigorate Faith, Build Community, Proclaim the Gospel As we implement this priority plan, St. Mary on the Hill Catholic Church will give thanks to God for how the Holy Spirit is working in our community, helping us become disciples of Jesus. Through our intentional prayer and an ever-deepening faith, our parish will be a place of welcome and comfort. As we embrace our values and fulfill related priorities, the vibrancy of our faith community will increase, and more adults and children will witness their faith personally. All parishioners, representing the diverse and multicultural makeup of our larger community, will feel welcomed and be active members. Our parish will make the necessary changes to support an ever-increasing number of people seeking ongoing faith formation to answer the call to evangelize. In all that we do, our words and actions will invigorate faith and build community so that we can proclaim the Gospel of Jesus Christ! In next week s bulletin I ll introduce the first priority: Faith Formation In the gospel Jesus says, my yoke is easy, and my burden light. Is it easy for you to follow Jesus? Why? Or are you finding it to be a burden? Why?

GIVING ELECTRONICALLY Please be aware that you may make your offertory donation, pay for mass stipends, send memorials and make any other contributions or payments to the church through our website www.stmaryonthehill.org. All we ask when you do is that your description of the gift be detailed enough for us to post this correctly. We accept American Express, Discover, MasterCard, Visa debit or credit transactions. Another way to make gifts to the church is through your bill pay option with your bank. Simply enter the church as the payee, using your tithe number for the account number. For non tithe monies please make sure you clearly note what the check is for on the memo section of the payment. We feel these options are preferable to automatic debits as you, the parishioner, have control over when your gifts are made. St. Mary on the Hill is sustained by the generosity of our parishioners through time, talent and treasure. For all that you do, THANK YOU! 2017 BISHOP S ANNUAL APPEAL DIOCESE OF SAVANNAH Thank you to those who have made their BAA pledge. As of the last report we received (6/21/17), 20.46% of our parishioners (499 families) have made a pledge to the Bishop s Annual Appeal. We have given $186,086 which is 79% of our target of $236,296. Our support of diocesan agencies and ministries is one way that we respond to God for all we have received. If an easy, secure way to make a one time gift or pledge from a credit card or direct debit is through the following link - https://donate.diosav.org/ CHURCH IN AFRICA The Solidarity Fund for the Church in Africa (SFCA) is an opportunity to stand with the people of Africa. While the Church in Africa is growing, many still lack access to basic resources and pastoral care. Many suffer due to high rates of poverty and unemployment, illiteracy, and poor education. The SFCA supports pastoral projects that foster lasting peace and reconciliation in a continent often marked by division and tension. To learn more, visit www.usccb.org/africa. Part of our tithe next weekend will be for this collection.
