Catholic Ministries Appeal Serving God By Serving Others Thank you for your generous support of the 2014 Catholic Ministries Appeal. Please remember that any new pledges must be received by December 31st and current pledges must be paid by January 31st, 2015 for the 2014 Appeal. Completing your 2014 pledge ensures that our parish will benefit by receiving the full rebate. Be An Angel Gift-giving and gift-receiving are meant to remind us of the real meaning behind our celebration of Christmas - God s priceless gift of His Son, Jesus. And since the time that Mary and Joseph wandered homeless into Bethlehem, providing for the needy has always been a Christmas tradition. So, again this year, our parish will make available baskets filled with Angel Tags, each angel carrying the name of a gift needed by someone in our community. You are invited to take home an angel or two during the next couple of weekends, and bring your gifts to the church lobby. A special collection box will be placed in the church lobby for gift cards & certificates or you may bring them to the rectory. Please securely attach your Angel Tags, but do not wrap the gifts, as we will have wrap and ribbon available to go with them. Please make sure you beat the December 12th deadline! Any gifts we receive after this time will be donated to St. Brigid s, Our Holy Redeemer, and Queen of the Most Holy Rosary where the need there is so great. God bless your generosity...and through it may Jesus be born once more in all of our hearts this Christmas. Food Pantry Weekend December 6th & December 7th Thank you to all who contributed so generously for Thanksgiving. As I write, we are still getting requests from needy families for Thanksgiving Baskets. This month all food donations will be used for our Christmas Baskets which will be picked up the week of December 15th. The Bellmore Kiwanis Club has already generously donated 60 canned hams for these baskets. Any trimmings that you can provide will be most welcome. Many families depend on us to make their Christmas happy, so your help is so appreciated. We could not do it without you. On behalf of the Society of St. Vincent DePaul and Outreach, we thank you for your continued support and generosity. Box Tops for Education When you are buying your Christmas baking supplies, please remember that St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Regional School collects General Mills Box Tops for education, found on many products. November 30, 2014 Hi everyone! This is the page for St Barnabas Life Teen. I m Peggy Harnisch your youth minister!! Hi Everyone, Today is the First Sunday of Advent! This is the time set apart for us to prepare our hearts and minds to celebrate the birth of Jesus! It s so hard sometimes because we are bombarded by the secular society we live in to go crazy this time of year with shopping, decorating and baking. It s all good things but it may push the real reason we are celebrating to the back of our minds. How many of us were shopping early on Friday? Sadly, this year saw a record number of stores open on Thanksgiving Day. Advent says to us - slow down - prepare our hearts for Jesus! How do you prepare for Jesus? There are many things we can do. For many years we have had an Advent Wreath at home. We light it before dinner each Sunday. It s a small reminder that we are preparing for Jesus. To me this is a great time of year to get our Bibles out! Read the Infancy Narratives in the Gospels. This is also a great time to check on your prayer life. Are we getting too busy for regular prayer? How about adding a few minutes each morning for prayer. It just might keep the day in perspective! Have a wonderful first week in Advent! I hope you join us for some Youth Ministry events! Have a blessed week! - Peggy If you ve never been to a Youth Ministry night, we d love for you to try it out! E-mail Peggy for info!! High School Youth Ministry nights December 14th - The Summit Middle School Youth Ministry Date December 5th - Game Night - What is Church? Special Events December 19th - Service project - Peanut Butter and Jelly Gang - 7:00 PM in the School Cafeteria. All invited! Thanks to donations of Peanut Butter and Jelly, we re asking everyone to bring a loaf or two of bread with them on that night! Christmas Party December 21st Grades 6 through 12 invited
