Spiritual Building-Stone No. 198 Greatness is Expressed in Humility Proverbs 15:33, The fear of the LORD is the instruction of wisdom; and before honour is humility. Listen what the Prophet of God said about it: Humility is a way to success. [1] Wait on one another. Do service for one another. Don't be bigger than somebody else. Try and see how little you can be. I've often heard, say, "Don't never be big in your own sight." If you're big, let it be in God's sight. Be little in your own sight. Every man that humbles himself, God will exalt. But those who exalts themself, God will bring abase. See? Be little. [2] So you don't have to be rich and mighty in this world to be great in the sight of God. You only have to be humble in your heart. And God calls that greatness. He that's great enough to humble himself. That's a great person that'll take the blame for everything, that'll humble himself. That's greatness. [3] Humility, the way down is all the ways, the way up. "He that will humble himself, God will exalt. He that exalteth himself shall be abased." (Matt. 23:12). The way down is the way up for the believer, humble himself before God. Jesus met with men of all walks of life. He met in great circles. One time He was with thousands, five hundred at once, twelve at once, three at once, and even will come to one. That makes Him great. That's what makes Him God is because of His humility. [4] Now, both sides, if you notice, is started in Genesis religious. On both sides, one of them denominational, high-minded, and the other one humble, walking in the Spirit by revelation. How could Abel ever know that it was a lamb instead of fruits from the field? Because it was revealed to him by a Divine revelation (Gen. 4:3-7). Jesus said the same when Peter confessed Him to be the Son of God. He said, "Flesh and blood has not revealed this to you, but My Father which is in heaven has revealed this to you. Upon this rock (The rock, not Peter, not Jesus, but on the Divine revelation) I'll build My church and the gates of

hell cannot prevail against it." You get it? It's Divine revelation (Matt. 16:13-19). [5] What's the denomination trying to do? Exalt itself like Lucifer (Ezek. 28:11-19). They so call themselves the church, the bride, which they are in Revelations 17, the false bride. Above Christ's little flock, the Bride, Lucifer thinks (Isaiah 14:12-15) and exalts himself above the humble Word of God's Truth by the knowledge of the revelation and has placed himself by seminary education and theology, until they have got themselves up, and if you don't belong in their group, then you are an out-wash. Like Lucifer did in the beginning, saying to the people just exactly what Lucifer said to Eve: "Surely God will receive us; we feed the poor (That's good.). Surely He will receive us; we are a great denominational; we are a beautiful church. Why, look at our great buildings. Look at our great membership. We stand in the millions. Surely God will not turn that group down." The same thing that Cain did, brought in the pretty fruits from the ground that he had tilled, and toiled, and worked, and brought in the fruits and rejected the humble blood of the lamb. God have mercy that men and women will not think I'm saying this to exalt something or some personal revelation or something. I'm only telling you the Truth. Can't you see what they're doing? I speak it loud and harsh, but you got to drive a nail till it clinches if it's going to do any good, so you'll see it. See? [6] Now, you see why we have so many different denominations? You see why we have so much confusion, one believing this and the other one believing that? Because the spiritual revealed Truth has to come through God alone. The Word's hid from the eyes of the wise and prudent (Matt. 11:25-27). God said so. And He reveals it to babes such as will learn. So be a baby, humble yourself, and say, "Oh, God, here I am. Just make Yourself known to me. I love You." God will reveal Himself to you; He will make Himself known. You see it? [7] We've got theologians today; we've got Doctors of Divinity; we've got great men all over the world that's smart, intelligent, and educated. But it takes the simplicity of believing God to make His Word speak out to show that Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Takes a humble heart dedicated to God, bring Jesus Christ unto present tense. Amen. If it taken theology, what would the Presbyterian, Methodist, Baptist, Catholic, and so forth, we wouldn't have a chance us poor unlearned people. But it doesn't take knowledge. "Not by power or by might, but by My Spirit," saith God, "I'll unfold this mystery." (Zech. 4:6-7). And he'll cry to it, "Grace, grace, with shoutings and cryings." That's what it is today: God's 2

amazing grace to His people. How He takes the illiterate, the unlearned, shows that Jesus is the same. [8] And these theologians see this Bible; they read It, but they don't want to do It. See? It shows the serpent's seed (Gen. 3:1-7; 4:1-7). They had seen it vindicated, and so simply before the people, but it seems like it's so hard for people to humble themselves to the Word of God. Don't you all find, when you're talking, you women to girls, about wearing long hair, and they say, "Why you got your hair long?" (the Nazarite vow to the Word). See? "Why do you wear your skirts down long?" You go to talking to them, they kinda give you the shoulder. Isn't that right? See, they know that's right, if there's any lady in them. See? They know that's right. But, you see, they can't humble themselves to that. See how Cain did? He couldn't humble himself to the vindicated Word of God. He couldn't do it. Oh, even the Pentecostal say, "Well, glory to God. Hallelujah. I cut my hair and speak in tongues." That shows right there there's something wrong; the seed's bringing forth something different. A Seed of God cannot bring forth a bob-haired woman. It cannot do it, just can't do it, 'cause the Bible said so (I Cor. 11:1-16). It can't do it. No, sir. Now, it seems so hard to humble to God's Word. [9] And isn't that just the way that people get today? Let God just bless a fellow and put a little confidence in him, and he gets to be a know-it-all. He's got to start an organization, or he's got to do something that's different. "Why art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer." God has a hard time trying to get somebody that He can deal with, that'll stay humble, and meek, and stay in the place until God calls him to do something (you believe that? See?), a man that God can bless and he'll still keep himself a man, not be an angel or a god. As soon as man gets blessed and has a little something given to him, he wants to become a god; he wants to become an angel. He wants to become some great person. "What I do, what... Me and me and mine..." all that. That's the wrong attitude. God's hunting for somebody who He could bless and pour out the blessings, and the more He blessed, the littler the man will become. And you'll never get more of God until you become nothing. You've got to belittle yourself. He that will exalt himself, God will bring abase. He that will humble himself, God will exalt (I Peter 5:5-7). You've got to get little before you can get big. And you'll never be big in your own self; you'll only be as big as God will be big in you. See? [10] I've had the privilege of meeting some great men. And it's these guys that's got a change of clothes and fifty cents in their pocket and--to rattle, that's the 3

guy that thinks he's something when he's nothing. But I stood with great men, I mean, great men, with ragged sleeves, cuffs; and they make you think you're the great person. See, greatness is humility. Don't forget that, church! Greatness is expressed in humility (Isaiah 57:15), not how fine you can be... I don't mean dirty now; I mean humble in spirit. See? I don't mean just didn't get out and go to wash and clean up. You should do that; you know that. See? But I'm talking about humility, genuine humility, not something that's put-on, something that is, that's real humility. [11] Put the Word in your heart; let the Holy Spirit come in and watch the Word move. Believe, be humble; don't desire to be a great somebody; be a nobody, that God can make you a somebody. See? All right. Do that now. [12] No matter how much teaching you got, you can drum that into you. God's not in big words; God's in a honest heart. You might sing or speak big words, like I don't know what; that doesn't bring you closer to God. You can stand and practice how to repeat your sermon and say these things; that don't get you closer to God. You could learn dictionaries till you sleep with one, and it still wouldn't get you closer to God. A humble, submitted heart, in the simplicity, is what brings you to God (James 4:6-10). That's true. Amen. A humble heart, God loves. Now, no matter if you don't know your abc's, that don't make any difference. Just a humble heart, God dwells in a humble heart, not in education, it's not in schools, not in theology, seminaries, not in all these other different places, not in big words, or not in classical places. God dwells in human hearts. And the lower you can break yourself down, the more simple, you can become greater in the sight of God. Let me give you something. I see your fields are full of wheat out here. A full head of wheat always bows. A little old sprig sticks up there, and flopping around like it knows everything, it ain't got it in the head. That's the way with a lot of these guys that think they got a whole lot in their head, and nothing in their heart. A holy head will bow to the power, recognize Jesus Christ as the Son of God, and believe His works. [13] Remember, that was the first miracle performed to a Gentile (That's right.), this healing of the Syrophenician woman. That's right. She had the right approach to God's gift. Faith in the midst of the Word is right, reverent, humble. See? [14] Notice her long hair, Nazarite vow to the Word. Now, the humble little Bride of Christ just simply believes the Word, whoever She is; it's individuals. And I hope that myself and every one of you all are part of 4

that Bride. I hope many and... It will, all that's been ordained to that will be that, 'cause it's their nature. See, the Word can only recognize the Word. It can't recognize a denomination or a perversion. It knows better; It's a Word. See? It can't recognize nothing... A wheat can't be nothing but a wheat. It started a wheat; it'll head up a wheat. And a weed can never be a wheat, yet it's watered by the same anointing. See? But it ain't a wheat, as I said the other day about the tree with the different branches in it. [15] You remember what the Lord said about Israel? "When you were little, when you had nothing, when you laid in your own blood in the field, no one to clean you, I took you in. Then you served Me. But when you got old enough till you thought you were all right and self-secured, then you left Me." They've always did that. Uzziah (the King), he was a great man (II Chron. 26:1-26). He held onto the Lord. But one day, after God strengthened him... And he was a great example to Isaiah the prophet. But after he got strong, and built up, and the nations begin to fear him... He built his walls and begin to get glamorous things. He got self-conceited. He got to looking how great he was. And then he tried to take the place of the preacher. And God smote him with leprosy, and he died a leper. See? We don't never want to get lifted up in our hearts. [16] This king got along fine until he found out that all the nations was fearing him. He'd become largely popular; his kingdom got built up; and he got lifted up in his heart with pride. "I'm just a big man now," and that's the way out. The way up is down. How do you know which is up or down? 'Cause if the world's standing in space, how do you know which is up or down? So always, he that humbles himself, God will exalt; he that exalts himself, God will bring to abase. He'll bring him down. Always keep humble, and be little in your own sight. No matter what God does for you, just see how much more humbler you can be all the time. More God blesses you, just keep getting more humble all the time. He can continue to bless. But when you get to a place that you think, "I've got it," you haven't got it, you're on your road out. That's right. See? You lose your influence. You lose your strength of your testimony. When you women begin to want to be like the rest of the women, there's something wrong. When you men, you ministers, try to become like a--pattern after somebody else, when you businessmen try to do business on the scale that somebody else would do it on, because they're prosperous... Prosperity doesn't always represent success in Christ, sometimes very much to the contrary. See? [17] And God has His program, and He will set you and place you in Christ, just where He thinks you'll work best for Him, if you'll just stay 5

in your calling. Don't try to get somebody else's calling. Stay in your own calling. If you're a housewife, remain a housewife. Whatever God's called you to do, just remain there (I Cor. 7:17-24; Eph. 4:1). He knows where to put His hand on you and use you. [18] Oh, God respects humility. [19] It's true that the big church shines and glitters with polished theology, while the Kingdom glows with humbleness, the poor and humble (I Cor. 4:20). The Gospel doesn't shine; It glows. Fool's gold shines; real gold glows. There's a difference between a glow and a shine. We know that. [20] You know, people want power, and really they don't know what power is. See? They don't really know what goes with it. The way up is down always. If you want power, see how humble you can get. Just get away from all your worldly thinking, and humble yourself before God, and then you've got more power than the man that runs all over the building and makes a big lot of noise; because you have been able to conquer yourself and commit yourself to Christ to humble yourself before Him. That's really power. You show me a church that's humble, real humble, not an arrogant church, just a sweet, humble church, I'll show you a church that has the favor and power of God in it. That's right. That's the thing it takes, humility, humbling ourselves before God, and letting God just work through us. Don't have to make a lot of noise. [21] It's not me. See? You got to get yourself out of the picture. God made a promise. God's got to stay with that promise. But you've got to be simple enough to get out of your own way. Someone said, "This would be a great man if he had a L.L.D. out of our college." If he does, he just goes another gap from God. "Men today can send a message," I said, "to the moon. But he walks over a blade of grass where he could not explain if he has to." God's hid in simplicity. See? You can't get simple enough. A man gets an education, the first thing you know he's so great he can't humble himself. And God is so great that He humbles Himself and hides Himself from the wise and prudent. Jesus thanked God for it (Matt. 11:25). The way to know God is get simple. The way up is down. Which way is the north or south pole? You're standing in space. See? The way up is down. "He that humbles himself shall be exalted; he that exalts himself shall be abased." (Matt. 23:12). See? We must humble ourselves, not try to know too much. Just know one thing. Focus everything else out of the way and look unto Christ (Heb. 12:1-3). If you don't know how to write your name, 6

that doesn't have one thing to do with it. Just focus your heart to Christ and His will, and watch what happens. Yes, certainly. [22] The Token, Jesus Christ, the Holy Spirit, is among us. We should reverence that. We can't humble ourselves enough. Taking off your shoes or getting on your knees wouldn't expel it, it wouldn't satisfy; it wouldn't suffice us, but a life that brings forth the fruit of the Spirit... Now, what is the fruit of the Spirit? See? Love, joy, peace... (Gal. 5:22-23). [23] Now, why was Paul given a sickness to hold him down. After Jesus had been dead, and buried, and rose again, after a long time, Paul met Him face to face on the road to Damascus (Acts 9:1-18). He said, "I come from God and went to God." Paul looked up; there was a big Light there, that same Pillar of Fire. Do you know what I'm talking about? The same Pillar of Fire... And Paul talked to Him, and He talked back to Paul. The people didn't hear Him. They didn't hear Him, but Paul heard Him. He said, "Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou Me?" He said, "Who are You, Lord?" He said, "I'm Jesus. Now rise and go into the street called Straight; it'll be told you from there on. I got a prophet that's coming up there to tell you what to do (You see?), how to..." Paul... took down, was baptized, and called upon the Lord, received the Holy Ghost, and Paul said, "I had an infirmity of the flesh that was given me, a devil, a messenger of the devil that buffet me." (II Cor. 12:1-10). That's like blow after blow. He'd get better, and then it'd hit him again. Said, "I consulted the Lord three times to take it away from me, but the Lord said, 'Paul, My grace is sufficient.'" Then he said, "Except I would be exalted above the abundance of the revelation... (verse 7). He had more of a revelation than Peter, James, John, or any of them. He seen Him after He'd been gone for maybe two years or more, standing in a Pillar of Fire talking to Him. How much greater today, two thousand years, and He still lives. Amen. He said, "There was given me, except I'd get exalted above, saying 'Now, brother, I'm--above you all. See, I seen Him after He was raised from the dead, and I talked to Him; I'm..." Except I get exalted above there, there was something give me to keep me humble." See? Yeah? [24] The devil is a real smart shrewd bird. He knows how to hit the thing before it gets started; he knows it. See? And the only thing that you can ever do to beat him, is to rely on Christ and humble yourself and let Him lead you. You'll never do it any other way (John 10:27-30). Your intellectual powers will never do it. You got to believe it and just rely on Him (Prov. 3:5-6). He is the Shepherd. It ain't the sheep's business 7

to keep the wolf away; it's the Shepherd's business; but the sheep must stay with the Shepherd in order to stay safe (Ps. 23:1-6). That's my safety Zone, is in Christ, and Christ is the Word. That's the safety Zone. [25] Father God, keep these in Your hands. They're Yours. I pray, God, that we'll always walk humble before You. We don't know how long. We don't desire to know how long; it's not our business. That's Your business. It's not our wills to know when You will come; it's our will, Lord, to keep humble till You do come, and walk with You. It's our desire for You to just let Yourself be known once in a while, Father, among us, that we can see that we're still walking with You. Forgive us of our past sins! Guide us and protect us from every snare of the devil for the future! Lead us and guide us, O God our Father! Forgive our sins and help us to be Your children! We're a poor class of people. We're an outcast by the societies of this world, by the denominations of the churches. We see the end, and we thank Thee for spiritual eyesight into Thy Word to see the end time. For all these things must come to that great stoning from heaven. Help us, Lord, not to be here at that day, but to be gone into Your Presence, fly away into Your bosom.
