About Us Sue Benson Reiki Master Sue s journey with Reiki started in 2001 when she experienced this gentle yet powerful healing for the first time. Over the next five years Sue had regular Reiki treatments which facilitated great personal growth and provided the inspiration for Sue to learn the Reiki healing technique herself. In 2006 Sue completed Usui Reiki Levels I & II with Reiki Master Trish Cooney and started working with clients using the healing Reiki energy. In 2009 Sue also completed a Diploma of Reflexology at the Reflexology Academy of W.A. She now combines Reiki and Reflexology having discovered how beautifully these two methods of healing work together to bring the body, mind and emotions back to a state of balance. Sue has a successful holistic practise and has helped hundreds of clients on their healing journey. She has witnessed her clients undergo great healing, both physically and emotionally and is constantly in awe of the power of this simple practice. In 2013 after working as a practitioner for seven years, Sue felt it was time to share her knowledge of Reiki and completed her Reiki Masters level which now enables her to pass on these teachings to others. Sue has also had an interest in Meditation for many years and loves to explore different techniques. Sue runs regular Meditation & Relaxation classes and has just released her first Relaxation CD. 2
Ray Hoare Reiki Master Ray started his Reiki journey in 1998 when he completed Level I of Usui Reiki with Reiki Master Roger Weston. Later that year he travelled to Ubud in Bali to study Reiki II. This was also the catalyst to draw him back to the high energy and spiritual island of Bali many times over. In the beginning Ray only used Reiki on his family and himself. However, in 2000 he went on to study Reflexology and combined this practice with Reiki energy. Ray participated in treatment session swaps with other practitioners over a four year period, giving him a great opportunity to learn more about Reiki whilst giving and receiving Reiki energy. During this period of expansion and developing the use of energy and healing, he completed a Swedish Massage Course, Self Awareness Courses and a refresher course in Reiki II. The refresher course helped Ray to again focus his Reiki knowledge into further healing practices. Ray volunteered as a practitioner for four years at the West Australian Aids Council as part of their Living Well program. His work there enabled him to use his skills and knowledge of Reiki, Reflexology and Massage. This period of time was rewarding for himself as well as his clients. During 2005 he was co-ordinator and co-facilitator for practitioner weekend retreats in Dwellingup and Augusta. Located in beautiful, natural and high energy environments, everyone was able to tap into their own healing talents and energies through treatment swaps, shared knowledge and conversations. The desire to learn more about Reiki culminated in Ray completing his Reiki Masters level. This has now completed a learning cycle for Ray who has learnt from teachers in energy healing and has now become a teacher for those who wish to begin their journey. Just like Ray s wish to explore energy healing over 15 years ago. 3
About Reiki Reiki is a healing system developed in the early 1900 s in Japan by Dr. Mikao Usui, and is now one of the more widely known forms of energy healing. Reiki uses energy to promote healing in the body on a physical, mental, emotional and spiritual level. The source of the energy is Universal energy the energy of everything. Dr. Mikao Usui described the word Reiki as Rei representing divine healing energy and Ki representing life force energy, both of the individual and the Universe. Reiki energy is the healing energy of the Universe and Reiki practice is not associated with any religion. A Reiki practitioner harnesses this Universal energy via a series of attunements which then gives them the ability to transfer Reiki energy to themselves and others. Reiki is applied via the practitioner s hands. The practitioner places their hands in a series of positions on or over the recipient s body and the Reiki energy passes through the hands. Through the transference of Reiki healing energy there can be an increase in the body s vitality which gives the body a greater ability to heal itself. Reiki is used as a healing practice in its own right and is also used to support both orthodox and complimentary medicine. For example, Reiki treatments are becoming more widely used in hospitals. It is the most accessed complimentary health treatment for cancer and leukaemia patients at Sir Charles Gairdner Hospital in Perth, Western Australia. 4
About Reiki Level 1 The first Level of Reiki is the starting point and your introduction to Reiki energy. It includes your life long attunement to Reiki, which enables you to channel Reiki energy for use on yourself and others. The process of attunement clears blockages from the body s energy channels. The attunements also give an increase in the healer s own life energies, to the source of Reiki. This source or universal energy call be called anything the healer pleases i.e. Goddess Energy, God, Divine Source etc. Reiki is not connected to any religion so it can be called whatever you like. After receiving Reiki 1 attunements you will find that when you place your hands on someone in a healing manner, your healing is more powerful. Everyone can do Reiki, the attunement helps to make your healing stronger. After receiving your attunements we recommend that you do a self healing session daily and if possible practice on others. This helps you to settle into the energy and become used to it. In addition to the attunements you will learn how to apply Reiki healing to yourself and to others. You will also be given the opportunity to practice the Reiki healing techniques on others within the group. We are offering an extended version of Reiki Level 1 to enable you to have extra hours of practice which will help you to become more familiar with the energy and gain confidence when using it on others. 5
Why Learn Reiki In Bali? We have been to Bali over 30 times, coming back time and time again and we feel that it is the perfect place to teach and share our Reiki knowledge with others. You will be able to immerse yourself in the culture, the slow pace of life and the grounding energy of this beautiful volcanic island. The locals in the area are gentle people with the majority being Hindu, and to see them living their beliefs on a daily basis with their offerings, rituals and ceremonies is a humbling and peaceful experience. Lovina sits between the mountains and the sea and we feel very blessed to be offering this extended Reiki Level 1 course in such a lovely setting. It will be an opportunity for you to really immerse yourself in learning how to use Reiki on yourself and others in an environment where you are free from the demands and distractions of daily life. You will have the time to focus your energy on your own learning and self-development and will also have the opportunity to spend an extended period of time with like-minded people. We have also made sure that we have allowed time in the program for relaxing! There is a wonderful spa on-site offering a full range of pampering and nurturing treatments and there will be plenty of opportunities for some time-out and relaxation, whether that is having a massage, sitting by the pool and reading a book or taking a leisurely walk along the beach it s up to you! Reiki is a healing and nurturing energy and it is our intention to provide a peaceful and supportive environment in which to learn how to work with this Reiki energy. 6
Venue The location we use for the Reiki courses is in the North of Bali, 3.5 hours drive from the bustling tourist areas that Bali is known for. This is a volcanic area and the beaches are clean with darker sand than in the south and with calm seas. The hotels in the area are smaller villa or cottage style and there are no high rise hotels. The area attracts people who like to take it easy, relax and unwind. You will be staying at the tranquil Rambutan Boutique Hotel in Lovina. This beautiful hotel would have to be our favourite place to stay in Bali. This is a family run hotel and has the feeling of being a home away from home. The owner s Richard and Tini have created a tropical haven set in lush gardens in typical Balinese style. The hotel boasts two swimming pools and a luxurious spa for on-site pampering. All accommodation has used Balinese craftsmen and are decorated using local stone carvings to give this hotel a true Balinese flavour. The hotel is situated 5 minutes walk from the Lovina beach and there are plenty of shops and restaurants nearby. Rambutan Boutique Hotel has been awarded a Certificate of Excellence by Trip Advisor for five years running in 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 & 2015. http://www.rambutan.org/ 7
