Optional: There are a variety of ways you could finish off the scarf, or not embellish it at all. Making a border of fringe is one option. Creating tassels is another option and is illustrated in detail below. To create the scarf embellishment pictured on the cover page, make 10 tassels and attach 5 tassels evenly along both ends of the scarf. There are several ways to create tassels. A simple and affordable way to make tassels is by using a crochet fork. This will allow you to adjust the height of the tassel as needed, and if you do not make hairpin lace often, you can get some extra added use out of it. STEP 1 - Adjust the fork to the desired height of the tassel. (Width does not matter, so place forks at an even width that is comfortable for you to work with). STEP 2 - Take a piece of yarn and wrap it over the fork. Be careful not to pull too tightly as you are wrapping the yarn around the fork, or this could mess up the height of your tassel. NOTE: You might want to keep a ruler handy just NOTE: I wrapped the yarn about 20 times around the in case you do accidently move the bars, and to fork. keep track of the height of your tassel. 5
STEP 3 - You will need a pair of scissors, and two STEP 4 - Take your first piece of yarn and wrap it separate pieces of yarn. around the middle portion of yarn on the crochet fork. STEP 5 - Tie a knot tightly around the yarn. STEP 6 - Take the second piece of yarn and string it through the middle of the top portion of yarn. Make sure it evenly space across the top. 6
STEP 7 - Tie a knot tightly across the top portion of STEP 8 - Remove one of the forks and slip the tassel the tassel. off of the crochet fork. STEP 9 - Take your scissors and cut the loops across STEP 10 - Your tassel is now complete and ready to be the bottom of the tassel. Next trim the bottom of attached your project! the tassel so all the pieces of yarn across the bottom are of an even length. Now your scarf is complete!
