Dear Church Family, This past Sunday I enjoyed beginning our two new sermon series, because it is my privilege to provide expositional preaching, at is preaching at unpacks a text verse by verse or chapter by chapter. God is particularly honored when we as His people read and study His Word in e same way at He inspired it. A helpful way to maximize e benefits at you will receive rough ese series or any oer series is to take notes. For some, is may mean using a notebook to write down main points and what God is saying to you rough e message or your questions for furer personal study. Taking notes like is is my preferred way to enjoy and interact wi sermons and Bible study messages. For at least a decade, I have not sat under any teaching of God s Word wiout pen and paper in hand ready to interact wi what is being taught. It has been said at e difference between reading (or hearing) e Bible and studying it is wheer a person has a pen in hand. Anoer meod of taking notes would be to use e sermon outlines at I will start making available soon (probably in e sanctuary and online). On anoer subject, I had e privilege of attending one of our Sunday School classes last week. That was e first Sunday of my commitment to visit every Sunday School class in e church on an ongoing and rotating basis. I can ink of noing better for a pastor to be doing during e Sunday school hour an to join e members of e different classes in studying God s Word and loving one anoer. Here are some clarifications: First, my intent is to support and encourage ese classes and eir teachers. I am not inspecting or evaluating. Raer, I will be visiting as a guest. Second, I appreciate e great respect wi which e church family treats me as e pastor and teacher of e flock, but I will not be a visiting expert when I come rough your class. In a sense, I am putting myself under e teaching of your gifted and called Sunday School teacher just as much as you are. Third, I am not telling e teachers or e classes in advance of my visits for a particular Sunday, so I look forward to seeing all of you in Sunday School classes on upcoming, but undisclosed Sundays. Grace to you and peace from God our Faer and e Lord Jesus Christ. Galatians 1:3 In Christ, Pastor Jay Sanctuary Choir Rehearsal is on break until September 4. Have a great summer.
