Saint Ann s Parish The Baptism of the Lord January 11, 2015 Today winds up our Christmas celebration for another year. It has been a season rich with blessings for us here at St. Ann s. Perhaps the greatest blessing of all was our tremendous success with the giving tree this year, when we ran No Room at the Inn to raise money to buy a house for a family in Haiti. A few people were skeptical at first, not sure if we d come anywhere close to the goal of $5,520 for a complete home. Yes, it would have been embarrassing if our results were paltry, but personally, I knew you would come through as you always do. As you know, we raised $8,037.10. That is enough for one whole house plus half of another! I was truly amazed by the number of people who gave $100, $500, and one parishioner who gave $1,000 to the cause! The lady at Cross Catholic told me I made her day when I told her how well we did. Of course, the Knights of Columbus deserve tremendous praise for their yeoman s job in overseeing everything for us. Thank you Knight of Columbus! You are truly living up to our founder Fr. McGivney s vision. The Knights also ran a successful Gala New Year s Eve dinner dance for us. Seventy-two people in total joined us to ring in the new year in style. I heard lots of comments about how we need to do it again next year, which we will! So mark your calendars from now that next year, New Year s Eve will be spent at St. Ann s! Finally, I need to say a very special word of thanks to Eric Czerniowski and his crew from Premium Lawn Service for the great job they did putting up all our beautiful Christmas decorations. One parishioner told me the angels looked like they were ready to leap with joy as they sounded their trumpets. I was also very touched to see people coming at night with their cameras taking pictures. One person told me she was sending it to all her friends to show them how beautiful our church looked. I am indeed grateful for all the wonderful compliments you paid me over the beauty of our church inside and out for Christmas. Thank you to you all!
