Gog of Magog is the ultimate and final invader and enemy of God s people, rather than a penultimate eschatological figure.
Behold a king shall go up from the land of Magog at the end of the days. He shall assemble kings wearing crowns and lieutenants wearing armor, and all the nations shall obey him. They shall array battle in the land of Israel against the children of the Dispersion, but the Lord shall be ready for them... I will send fire on Magog and on those who dwell securely in the coastlands, and they shall know that I am the Lord... And the nations (Gentiles) shall know that I am the LORD, the Holy One in Israel (Ezekiel 39:6 7)
So the house of Israel shall know that I am the LORD their God from that day forward. Ezekiel 39:22
They shall forget their shame and all the treachery they have practiced against me, when they dwell securely in their land with none to make them afraid... I will leave none of them remaining among the nations anymore Ezekiel 39:26, 28
And on that day I will seek to destroy all the nations that come against Jerusalem. And I will pour out on the house of David and the inhabitants of Jerusalem a spirit of grace and pleas for mercy, so that, when they look on me, on him whom they have pierced, they shall mourn for him, as one mourns for an only child, and weep bitterly over him, as one weeps over a firstborn. On that day the mourning in Jerusalem will be as great as the mourning for Hadadrimmon in the plain of Megiddo. Zechariah 12:9 11

Behold, it is coming and it will be brought about, declares the Lord God. That is the day of which I have spoken (Ezekiel 39:8)
This is what the Sovereign lord says: Are you not the one I spoke of in former days by my servants the prophets of Israel? At that time they prophesied for years that I would bring you against them. (Ezekiel 38:17)
"'This is what the Sovereign LORD says: On that day thoughts will come into your mind and you will devise an evil scheme. You will say, "I will invade a land of unwalled villages; I will attack a peaceful and unsuspecting people--all of them living without walls and without gates and bars. I will plunder and loot and turn my hand against the resettled ruins and the people gathered from the nations, rich in livestock and goods, living at the center of the land." Ezekiel 38:10-12
Therefore thus says the Lord God: Now I will bring back the captives of Jacob, and have mercy on the whole house of Israel; and I will be jealous for My holy name after they have borne their shame, and all their unfaithfulness in which they were unfaithful to Me, when they dwelt safely in their own land and no one made them afraid. When I have brought them back from the peoples and gathered them out of their enemies lands, and I am hallowed in them in the sight of many nations, then they shall know that I am the lord their God, who sent them into captivity among the nations, but also brought them back to their land, and left none of them captive any longer. (Ezekiel 39:25 28 NKJV)
The war of Psalm 83 followed by the war of Ezekiel 38 will result in the annihilation of nearly all the armies of the Muslim nations of the Middle East... Thus, if the Antichrist is a Muslim who is going to rule a Muslim empire in the Middle East during the Tribulation, then he is going to rule over an empire that has been reduced to ashes!
The elimination of this Russian- Islamic alliance and all their troops will pave the way for the Antichrist to posture himself to take over the world.
Islam is just another system that will be wiped out before the Antichrist instills his system.
I believe that the Ezekiel 38-39 war plays a key role in the rise of the Antichrist. It is clear in this passage that Iran and the Muslim coalition suffers a humiliating defeat. I believe God will use this war to bring the ultimate downfall of the Islamic religion and the false god Allah.
