1st Sunday Of Advent December 3, 2017 FROM THE DESK OF FR. FALLON Happy New Year Everyone! We ve begun the new liturgical year with the Season of ADVENT. OR WE CAN JUST STRESS OUT AND LOSE OUR MINDS LIKE EVERYONE ELSE. Let s not do that. Let s take some time for prayer. Turn off Bing and Amy Grant every once in a while and let every heart prepare Him room! One way to do that: Go to dynamiccatholic.com and sign up for BEST ADVENT EVER. It s an email straight to your inbox each day with reflections. I ve done it the past couple of years and signed up this year too! I m currently en route home to Crestwood from visiting my sister. I m sorry to have missed two Sundays. I ll see you soon! Peace, Fr. Fallon REGISTER NOW! December 3, 2017 News Around Town 4th Annual Crestwood Holiday Tree Decorating Contest - December 1st - 25th. CHRISTMAS CARDS WILL BE ON SALE AFTER ALL MASSES STARTING THIS WEEKEND. There are several styles, all depicting the true meaning of Christmas. In this small way, we keep the holidays from being just commercial; announcing, instead, the celebration of the Birthday of Jesus. The Prolife Committee thanks you for your continued support. Discover Crestwood businesses as we come together in the spirit of the season. Celebrate the holidays by visiting some or all of the 104 Crestwood businesses that are participating this year. Rate a business's tree during your visit and be entered into a weekly drawing for a gift basket chock full of goodies from our local merchants. Last year's gift baskets were valued at over $600 each. By rating the holiday trees, you are helping choose which business will win the "People's Choice" award.. Really discover Crestwood businesses by joining the Grand Prize Competition. The top 10 people who visit the most businesses will be entered into the Grand Prize drawing, valued at $2,000. (You must visit at least 50 businesses, plus the Community Center to qualify.) Entry form available on line or at City Hall. Friday, DECEMBER 8TH, is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception. That day being a National Day of Prayer for Life, there will be holy hours with Exposition of the Blessed Sacrament following the 8 am Mass until Benediction prior to the 12 pm (noon) Mass. (Approximately 8:45 to 11:45 am) Please come visit the Lord and pray for a return to a culture of life in our country. Enjoy a beautiful candlelit evening with friends while also preparing for Christmas! Come and join us at St. Elizabeth s on December 11th at 6:30pm. Fr. Brian Fallon will offer an Advent reflection while we enjoy appetizers and wine, coffee and dessert. Come by yourself, with a friend, or host a table of 8. Everything will be provided. Please RSVP to: julie@hoijarvi.org or pegoliver@att.net by December 8th. Advent by Candlelight is sponsored by Ecclesia Domestica, a public association of the faithful that offers support to homeschooling families. A free will offering is welcome.

This year we will be providing toys for children age 1-11 to be distributed during the year as birthday gifts. The Circle of Concern is also asking for winter hats, gloves and scarves for children, teens and adults. Blankets, afghans and fleece throws are also welcome to be handed out during the winter months. The ornaments on the tree are only suggestions, use your imagination or pick up an extra gift when you are buying for your family. Not a shopper??? Envelopes for cash donations and gift cards will also be on the tree. Suggestions for gift cards are Marshalls, Old Navy, Kohl s, Walmart, Target, Quicktrip, Walgreens, movie theaters and restaurants. Don t forget to purchase the gift cards through our SCRIP program! Please limit the gift cards to $25 or less. This is the fourth year that we are joining with Circle of Concern food pantry that provides, not only food, but other services for families in the area. A THANK YOU FROM SAJE Numerous participants in SAJE have commented on how GREAT the new parking lot pavement and the striped parking spaces are. Many participants, who come from all over the area, use the back lot to avoid stairs and are THRILLED to have the smooth and level surface to walk and drive on. Thank you for a job well done!
