In Loving Memory of Sunrise August 3, 1934 Sunset December 24, 2014 Tuesday, December 30, 2014-11:00 A.M. Greater Abyssinian Baptist Church 88 Lyons Avenue Newark, New Jersey Rev. Potts, Officiating

The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life (Psalm 23:1-6a) A Time To Grow: Cora came to Newark, NJ in 1939. She received her education at Morton Street, Charlton Street and South Side High School. Cora was employed by Greystone Hospital; General Electric, thirty years; Clinton Catering; The Dress Rack, thirty years and Mabel B s Boutique. Later to start a new career as Aide to Newark Council, President Donald Bradley until December 2007, her last final retirement. A Time To Love: Cora was joined in Holy Matrimony to her childhood sweetheart Ernest (BooBoo) Barron on February 5, 1950. To this union three children were born, Ernie, Twanda and Sabrina. A Time of Joy: Cora enjoyed traveling with Boo-Boo and The Old Times and The Golden Gloves wherever they went in and out of Jersey. Cora helped and assisted many people throughout her life. Even to the bitter end. She was a faithful member of the Greater Abyssinian Baptist Church as a Deaconess. A Time of Peace: Cora was called to rest on Wednesday, December 24, 2014. She leaves to cherish her everlasting memory, her loving and devoted family: her husband of sixty-four years, Ernest (Boo-Boo); son, Ernest (Julia); daughters, Twanda (deceased) and Sabrina Barron; four grandchildren, Leonard, Derrick Folson (Florida), Monique Griffith and Rafik Barron; five great grandchildren, Tammi, Isaiah Griffith, Rafik, Charmaine Folson and Jaden Griffith; one brother, Sam Gilbert (Geraldine); sisters-in-law, Ruth Gilbert, Eulalia Gilbert, Josephine Miller, Elsie Bowens and Elzina Barron; godchildren, Norman E. Hill and Martina (Crystal) Zimmerman; and a host of nephews, nieces, great nieces and nephews, great-great nephews, cousins, friends and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Jesse and Ellen Gilbert; her daughter, Twanda Barron and sister, Lulabelle Fisher.

I am home in Heaven, dear ones; Oh, so happy and so bright! There is perfect joy and beauty In this everlasting light. All the pain and grief is over, Every restless tossing passed; I am now at peace forever, Safely home in Heaven at last. Did you wonder I so calmly Trod the valley of the shade? Oh! But Jesus love illumined Every dark and fearful glade. And He came Himself to meet me In that way so hard to tread; And with Jesus arm to lean on, Could I have one doubt or dread? Then you must not grieve so sorely, For I love you dearly still: Try to look beyond earth s shadows, Pray to trust our Father s Will. There is work still waiting for you, So you must not idly stand; Do it now, while life remaineth - You shall rest in Jesus land. When that work is all completed, He will gently call you Home: Oh, the rapture of that meeting, Oh, the joy to see you come! Pallbearers Rafik Barron Darren Gilbert Kevin Gilbert Tyjuan Gilbert Juan Williams Irving Poochie Hill Antwan McDaniels Shaheem Smith We are grateful to all who have helped to share with us in this time of sorrow. Words can never express our deep sense of gratitude for your words of assurance, condolence, telegrams, and the rendering of your many kind deeds. Professional Services Provided By www.honoryou.com
