Friends and supporters of John L. Sullivan Ministries that coexists with Zihuatanejo Christian Fellowship. We are going to have a Canadian non-profit set up within the next month. It will be through a Canadian church in British Columbia and they will take nothing out of the support that people share with our ministries in Mexico and the givers will be able to receive a tax write off Praise God as He is behind everything we do in Mexico, Canada and the United States Amen!
This is Pastor John writing. The month of June was supposed to be a calmer time for our ministries. In some ways yes, but the truth, we always have things happening. My wife is constantly working with children and parents dealing with problems. She brings the answer to them and sometimes they listen and act. You know the answer. It is the answer for everyone, for anything and at any time. It s Jesus! This is the time of the year where few gringos come to Zihuatanejo. Even so we are having church services each Sunday. It has been a mixed congregation of Mexicans and gringos so we have been having bilingual services.our two church plants this time of the year have many more people, but the center of our ministries is Zihuatanejo Christian Fellowship. It is through this English speaking church where our support is based that allows us to ministry in the community. And believe me, lives are being changed when people get to know Jesus. We want to reach more people and get more people involved in sharing Jesus all over the world. That is why God placed us here in this small area in Mexico that is also a cross roads for many travelers.
Before any of you come, please contact us in what you can bring to our mission field... There are ongoing and new needs all through the year... Thank you We took the seniors from Manos de Dios Hands of God, one nursing home we work with to a condo complex where Barb from our church lives and invited us. We brought a chicken lunch and gave these people a special outing. A couple of them even got into the pool. It was at the same time Sid and Gord from Canada were here and they helped us. Gord did magic tricks for them and they were entertained with a mind boggling magic show. Then I shared a short message of Jesus, the miracle worker, who does not perform magic tricks to fool us, but true miracles to bless us. It was a fun time for these people to get away from the drab life they live.
Probable my favorite for the month was taking a Grandmother and her 4 grandchildren to the senior center. This lady takes care of her daughter s kids after the daughter was murdered last year. A number of the seniors go out daily on the streets, one is in a wheelchair, and pick up bottles for this family to recycle. This family gets a little money for their support from these bottles. I get a pickup load every week. Where they get the many plastic bottles is a mystery. Still it is telling me something about giving. These poor older people gathering bottles to help out a poor family they didn t even know before this gathering. I wanted to bring the family so these people could see who they are blessing. The family brought these seniors and handicapped people gifts, little things, but the heart behind them was touching. The idea of bringing gifts was not mine. All I could think of or say was thank you, Jesus. The kids were hugging the older people and laughter and joy filled this lonely house of men and woman waiting to die.
Again we took our sound equipment, our big screen our projector and 67 chairs to the garbage dump for a movie night. It was supposed to rain. We prayed, we went, and the weather was disruptive all around us, but not in the dump that night. I took a trip to Zirahuen, Michoacan, Mexico, a small community four hours from Zihuatanejo on a lake 8 thousand feet high in the mountains. Don and Anna, a missionary couple, take care of a beautiful house there overlooking the lake on a good size piece of land with a lot of trees. Through them I delivered a wheelchair and two walkers to needy people in that community. And while there I set up an opportunity to bring in a van load of teenagers from our ministry in Zihuatanejo to help on this property and have a Christian outing sharing our Love for Jesus to the neighboring people. Many of the young people have never been in the mountains and then to work, camp out, share Jesus and enjoy a Christian family outing. God will bless them as they bless others. And that is the central theme of our ministries.
For over a month Cristian has started a teenage gathering Saturday evening after our children s program. He picks up a number of them from the dump and other places and the group has been a good size, with 17 the night I shared a message to them on being bold in sharing Christian experiences. Now I want Cristian to share his thoughts about this teenage fellowship. Greetings to all, this is Cristian Cruz God put in my heart a special care. The youth in Mexico is going through changes and not for good. My wife and I are now working with a good number of teens. Beti and John have known a lot of these young men and women for several years now because Beti has worked with them through the children s programs in the hills. I thought and prayed over what was in my heart to share with the teens. We decided to speak about things that they are going through like sex, friendship, dating and, other themes that apply to their growing process. We have found out that a lot of the young men and women have already in the past gotten drunk, used drugs, and ditched school. They are going through problems with their parents and many of them have had suicide thoughts and attempts. It hurts me and shocks me that so many are going
through problems I had in my past but, I know all things will work for the better for those who love God (Rom 8:28) Some of the teens from the dump are also coming now to the gatherings and I hear that they enjoy the gatherings and I am happy that they like what is being taught. We have worship music at the end of the gathering and we pray for them. Teens from my soccer team are also assisting and that makes me feel good knowing that they are around me. We spoke about our father s relationship with us and at the end everybody was crying because they felt that they needed a father to be close to. It was said that God is the father we all need and that He will always be there and that we can trust Him for anything. We all gave each other hugs and some received Christ in their hearts so now I pray that God will show Himself to them in every way possible. Jesus gave it all for us so now it is our turn to do the same. I thank God for Beti and John because the work and prayers that they have lifted up in their faith in our Lord are being seen more and more. Glory to God! After the gatherings we often go to the Domino s pizza whenever God blesses us with money. We walk around and fellowship to know each other better.
Some of you may be wondering why Beti has not written something. The answer is she feels her English is not good and that I cover things well. First, that is not the truth and I believe I am not the only one who loves how the Lord uses Beti's heart. She expresses her love for Jesus in a very open honest way... If any of you feel the same please write a response that I may show my wife that what is on her heart others would like to hear.
