What to do: Ameri Week March 11-17 What is Ameri Week? Ameri Week is a time to salute Ameri members and alums for their service, and communicate Ameri impact on communities and on the lives of those who serve. It s a time for outreach and to share with your community all the great things that Ameri members like you do. All Ameri members throughout the country will be participating in this week of recognition and communication. What do I do as an Ameri member? It s simple, just spread the word: At WRC we have created a toolkit that helps you share. You ll find the Ameri Week Toolkit on our website. It contains this document, an informational poster, an informational poster with tabs you can cut on the bottom, a signup sheet for tabling events, application cards to hand out, and a PowerPoint slide deck. We ask that, at a minimum, you make a copy of the poster and then call or email your local high school or college counselor to make an appointment with them to speak about Ameri and put a poster up in their office where students can see it. We re telling you early, so you have plenty of time to make an appointment around Ameri Week. Our toolkit should have everything you need. Just bring a copy of the poster and show up to your appointment to chat. If you want to go the extra mile, in addition to the above you can also: Make more copies of the poster and put them around town at the churches, libraries, post offices, community centers etc Table during lunch time at a local high school/college and spread the word about Ameri opportunities while you handout copies of the posters or application cards to interested parties. Give a PowerPoint presentation to a classroom, school board, nonprofit, really any group you think would be interested in Ameri. You can use the PowerPoint in the Ameri Week toolkit and combine it with your Martin Luther King Day presentation too. Also, don t forget to put your time for Ameri Week outreach on your timesheet as service hours. Thank you for participating in Ameri Week! We appreciate all that you do! Please contact your WRC coordinator if you have any questions or to tell us how your outreach goes in March. We d love to hear how it went!
