Transforming our world through Jesus by connecting, developing, and mobilizing people for God s glory N E W C O V E N A N T C O M M U N I T Y C H U R C H Sunday Worship Service Invitation To Worship Heidi Beran, Harp Scripture: John 1:1-14 Singing To God Hark The Herald Angels Sing Lord I Need You Your Name (Christmas Version) Hearing God s Word Dr. Tim Johnson Senior Pastor Responding Through Giving Joy To The World Sent Into The World Opportunities to Serve The incarnation is God stepping into His own creation, that we might know Him, not as a distant God, but up close and personal. As we worship this morning, remember that Jesus is the visible image of the invisible God (Col. 1:15) and the light (John 8:12). We have seen his star and are come to worship Him! Worship Team Members Bret Welstead-lead vocal and acoustic guitar, Cathy Ingram, Steve Mills & Ruth Fristo-vocal, Jami Fristo-drums, Dane Paulsen-bass guitar, Joe Kirby-electric guitar, Terry Peterson-audio, Dave Lais-lights, Grady Milhon-media New Covenant Community Church December 1, 2013

GLORY REVEALED The Power of God s Plan John 1:1-4, page 1062 (in the Bible located in the seat back pocket) New Covenant Community Church December 1, 2013 1

Next Steps Read John 1:1-4 What characteristics of Jesus do you see in these verses? List them below: Just for the sake of argument, assume that all of those characteristics are true. If all of those characteristics are true, what is your reaction to this Jesus? Jesus predates Genesis Jesus is God Jesus is the speech of God Jesus is the agent of creation everything we see is due to Him Jesus brings light to wherever He is What are the current anxieties you are facing that can, if not already are, sucking the life right out of you? Take that list of anxieties and let them percolate through the filters (characteristics) of Jesus you listed above. What is God communicating to you as you muse on Jesus attributes found in the first four verses? Read Col 1:15-20 You are in the perfect position right now to lay all your anxieties, cares, concerns on the One Who created everything! What a wise choice to make. Read 1 Peter 5:7 & Matthew 11:28-30 One way to prepare your heart to celebrate Christmas is by reminding yourself of how great and massive Jesus really is! To grasp His greatness frees your heart to trust your life into His keeping. Set a goal this month of memorizing John 1:1-14. This week, just memorize 1:1-5. You will be so glad you did; those verses will serve you well this month for sure. 2 New Covenant Community Church December 1, 2013
