But before the arrival of Christmas, we need to prepare. Just as we would prepare for a test, or a trip, we must first make preparation for the coming of our Lord at Christmas. And we do so in hope, expectant hope of our coming Messiah. Mark Neilsen asks the question, Why are we still waiting for Jesus? Didn t he come already, born of Mary in Bethlehem in a manger? Of course he did and again, as I mentioned above, we will celebrate that wonderful event Christmas Eve, just as Christians have been doing for many years now. And it s in this season of Advent which we are about to enter that we look forward with hopeful anticipation to Jesus coming again. This preparation we are making is not about something that happened once a long time ago it is also something that will happen again sometime for each of us, for all of us. For Jesus comes to us now in this day in age, in this life. Through the Bible, through our prayers and as a church and as the family of God Jesus comes to us. God in Christ comes to us! So we say, Emmanuel! which the Bible reminds us is translated as, God with us. God is with us! So while we count the days until Christmas and look forward to the day when Christ will come again, may we not simply sit and wait. May we instead invite Jesus to move us and fill us with God s grace and light, reaching out to those around us out of the love we first received from God. God is with us! Have a blessed Advent! Pastor Jack

It is an act of faith that God will do something with these scattered seeds. As a synod, a collection of churches across Western North Dakota, we want to plant a few seeds as well--seeds that might sprout into Gospel-centered ministry in Christ's name. As a congregation, we have been invited to join with other congregations of our synod to build up the Mission Trust Fund. Gains from this fund will be used to help financially support creative, Christ-centered, missionfocused opportunities. Sometimes people dream great dreams for ministry in Christ's name, but what is needed to get them off the ground is seed money. As a congregation we have been challenged to generously support the Mission Trust Fund. The funds will be retained in trust; each year, gains on those funds will be used as grants to ministries in the synod. We enter into these activities wondering what God might do among us. Together, congregations from across the synod will gather in June to celebrate the results of this appeal. In the meantime we pray that God would stir us to creative, Christ-centered dreaming about ministry for Jesus sake. Look for details regarding your opportunity to support this worthy effort in upcoming bulletins. Thank you!

The new candlesticks and missal stand for the chancel are behind schedule. Cody Miller is going to visit with Justin Rode regarding when they can be finished. Strategic Plan 2013: Darrell Nitschke & Pastor Lee have begun to make calls to form a Governance Team; however, calls were met with a variety of questions that need to be answered before moving forward on this.
