Gerard O Connor, Director Date: March 27, 2018 Subject: 2018 Adult Confirmations Two Adult Confirmation Masses will be celebrated this year: Tuesday, May 15, 2018 at 7:00 p.m. Salem at St. Joseph Church (bi-lingual) Wednesday, May 23, 2018 at 7:30 p.m. Portland at the Cathedral of Immaculate Conception (bi-lingual) If your parish has adults who wish to be confirmed, please register them using the attached form for one of the Masses. Reserved seating will be allotted to each candidate and their sponsor and an additional one seat per parish for the parish coordinator. There will be open seating in the rest of the church for other guests. Pastors and parochial vicars are expected to either concelebrate the Mass or attend in choir. By registering a candidate, each parish adult Confirmation coordinator acknowledges that the confirmandi have met all of their parish s preparation requirements for adult Confirmation. Rehearsal for candidates and sponsors will be at 6:00 p.m. on May 15 at St. Joseph Church in Salem (please gather in cafeteria), and on May 23 at the Cathedral in Portland at 6:30 p.m. It is important for the Confirmation coordinator (or parish representative) to be present at the rehearsal where they will receive parish materials and Confirmation Mass instructions. The coordinator/parish representative will present the candidates to the Archbishop during the Mass. A Confirmation certificate will be completed for each person being confirmed and will be mailed to the parish representative following the celebration. We will make sure the Confirmation is recorded in the Confirmation register for St. Joseph or the Cathedral, as appropriate. The parish of those confirmed is responsible for recording the Confirmations in their parish sacramental records as well, and for sending the Confirmation information to the parish of baptism. Be sure to keep a copy of the data sheets for your records. Registration deadline for Adult Confirmation at St. Joseph in Salem is Friday, May 4, 2018. Registration deadline for Adult Confirmation at St. Mary s Cathedral is Friday, May 11, 2018.
