2016 BBTS Spring Lecture Series The Quincentennial Anniversary of the Textus Receptus BBTS Lecture Series In February 1516, Desiderius Erasmus (Oct. 28, 1466 to July 12, 1536) gave Roman Catholic Europe the first printed edition of the Greek New Testament (NT), later known as Textum nunc ab omnibus receptum ( the text now received by all ). In all, Erasmus produced five Greek NT editions (1519, 1522, 1527, and 1535), giving foundation to a succession of Greek NT editions of the Received Text, and resulting in translating the NT of Luther s German (1534), of Tyndale s Translation (1534), of the King James Version (1611), and of the Spanish Reina Valera (1602). 2 Spring 2016 The Lord has honored the English version built upon the Erasmian Textus Receptus, namely the King James Version with over four-hundred years (1611-2011) of Christian popularity and church use. Just as Bible Baptist Theological Seminary honored the Quadricentennial (400th) anniversary of the Authorized Version, it is fitting that Bible Baptist Theological Seminary honor the Quincentennial (500th) anniversary of the Textus Receptus. Although the world ignores and most of Christendom rejects the biblical importance and textual value of the Received Text, it is the only Greek text predicted by Scripture (Jn. 17:8). The Critical Text behind the modern versions of the Bible has no biblical basis and cannot possibly be the preserved Greek Scriptures about which the precious Saviour promised verbal preservation (Mt. 24:35). Understanding the history and biblical value of the Erasmian Textus Receptus will result in the following: 1. By giving refutation of the CT and all modern versions. 2. By giving clarity in the errors of Ruckmanism and the inspired KJV movement. 3. By giving authority to Biblical Greek teachers as they teach the very words of the preserved and inspired Greek vocabulary and grammatical constructions. 4. By giving confidence to pastors and believers in evaluating the right tools to study the KJV and its underlying text. 5. By giving encouragement to pursue missionary translation work. The Bible Baptist Theological Seminary 2016 Spring Lecture Series on Friday April 15, 2016 will focus on the History and Value of the Erasmian Textus Receptus (Dr. Thomas M. Strouse) at 9-11:30 AM, and The Pastor s Use of the Erasmian Textus Receptus (Dr. Cas Reeves) at 1-3 PM.

Greeting at Church Article GREETING AT CHURCH 4 Article Salute one another with an holy kiss. The churches of Christ salute you (Romans 16:16). The Apostle Paul Pastor Cas Reeves encouraged Christians to salute or greet one another. From our text, which is directed to the church at Rome, instruction is given to greet with an holy kiss. Also, this instruction is given to the churches at Corinth and Thessalonica (2 Cor.13:12; 1 Thes.5:26). Even Peter mentions it (1 Pet.5:14). This greeting was a Mid-Eastern custom in those days. Today, our similar custom is the hardy handshake. We shouldn t hold back from shaking peoples hands. The principle of the greeting is biblical and it is commanded (1 Cor.16:20). We have all been to those churches that we thought were unfriendly. We, personally, need to make every effort to be friendly, both to the faithful brethren and to the visitors. The biblical principle: A man that hath friends must shew himself friendly (Proverbs 18:24). This is the principle for having a friendly church. We should try to visit with everyone, endeavoring not to captivate the time and attention of any one person. Most people will politely endure, but the possibility of becoming irritating is great. We should endeavor not to be a nuisance (Proverbs 25:17), but rather we should be personable, friendly, and greet people with a hardy handshake. -CAR Our greetings should be by name, Greet the friends by name (3 John 14). The Apostle John used the Greek imperative. It is a must. And we should make a major effort to know peoples names, especially, those visiting our churches. Study to shew thyself approved unto God, a workman that needeth not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth. II Timothy 2:15 Quotes From the Past: Early American Baptist Preacher John Leland John Leland 1754-1841 The liberty I contend for is more than toleration. The very idea of toleration is despicable; it supposes that some have a pre-eminence above the rest to grant indulgence; whereas all should be equally free, Jews, Turks [Muslims], Pagans and Christians. Test oaths and established creeds should be avoided as the worst of evils.

BBC 2016 Theme Verse Let King Jesus Reign in your Heart in 2016 BBC 2016 Theme Who is this King of glory? The LORD strong and mighty, the LORD mighty in battle. Psalm 24:8 Grow in Grace for Women Psalm 150:6 Let everything that hath breath praise the Lord Reflection: Are you praising the Lord for His absolute goodness and worthiness in your life? The Lord will be worshiped by all His entire creation though out all eternity. When you read Revelation 5:12-13, in what ways do these verses prompt reverence and awe? 5 Article for Women Revelation 5:12-13 Saying with a loud voice, Worthy is the Lamb that was slain to receive power, and riches, and wisdom, and strength, and honour, and glory, and blessing. And every creature which is in heaven, and on the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and honour, and glory, and power, be unto him that sitteth upon the throne, and unto the Lamb for ever and ever. Challenge: Is the Lord Worthy of your worship? Is He Worthy of your faithfulness? When you suffer reproach or stand on your convictions today, it is because He is Worthy. Everything that hath breath shall praise Him because HE is Worthy! 2 Peter 3:18 But grow in grace, and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. To him be glory both now and for ever. Amen
