A Delight-full Song Mitchel Lee
The wicked borrows but does not pay back, but the righteous is generous and gives; for those blessed by the LORD shall inherit the land, but those cursed by him shall be cut off. Psalm 37:21-22 (ESV)

Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Commit your way to the LORD; trust in him, and he will act. He will bring forth your righteousness as the light, and your justice as the noonday. Psalm 37:4-6 (ESV)
Be still before the LORD and wait patiently for him; fret not yourself over the one who prospers in his way, over the man who carries out evil devices! Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil. Psalm 37:7-8 (ESV)
For the evildoers shall be cut off, but those who wait for the LORD shall inherit the land. In just a little while, the wicked will be no more; though you look carefully at his place, he will not be there. Psalm 37:9-10 (ESV)

1. The longing to be happy is a universal human experience, and it is good, not sinful.
1. The longing to be happy is a universal human experience, and it is good, not sinful. 2. We should not try to deny or resist our longings to be happy as though it were a bad impulse. Instead we should seek to intensify this longing and nourish it with whatever will provide the deepest and most enduring satisfaction.

Instead we should seek to intensify this longing and nourish it with whatever will provide the deepest and most enduring satisfaction. 3. The deepest and most enduring happiness is found only in God. Not FROM God, but in God.
4. The happiness we find in God reaches its consummation when it is shared with others in the manifold ways of love.

Why do you spend your money for that which is not bread, and your labor for that which does not satisfy? Listen diligently to me, and eat what is good, and delight yourselves in rich food. Isaiah 55:2 (ESV)
then you shall take delight in the LORD, and I will make you ride on the heights of the earth; I will feed you with the heritage of Jacob your father, for the mouth of the LORD has spoken. Isaiah 58:14 (ESV)
But let all who take refuge in you rejoice; let them ever sing for joy, and spread your protection over them, that those who love your name may exult in you. Psalm 5:11 (ESV)

Whom have I in heaven but you? And there is nothing on earth that I desire besides you. My flesh and my heart may fail, but God is the strength of my heart and my portion forever. Psalm 73:25-26 (ESV)
What is the chief purpose of man? To glorify God and enjoy him forever.
If we consider the unblushing promises of reward and the staggering nature of the rewards promised in the Gospels, it would seem that our Lord finds our desires, not too strong, but too weak. We are half-hearted creatures, fooling about with drink and sex and ambition when infinite joy is offered to us, like an ignorant child who wants to go on making mud pies in a slum because he cannot imagine what is meant by the offer of a holiday at the sea. We are far too easily pleased. C.S. Lewis
The most obvious fact about praise whether of God or anything strangely escaped me. I thought of it in terms of compliment, approval, or the giving of honor. I had never noticed that all enjoyment spontaneously overflows into praise...i had not noticed either that just as men spontaneously praise whatever they value, so they spontaneously urge us to join them in praising it. I think we delight to praise what we enjoy because the praise not merely expresses but completes the enjoyment. C.S. Lewis
Delight yourself in the LORD, and he will give you the desires of your heart. Psalm 37:4 (ESV)
