Opening Scripture Reading is from Amplified Bible James 3: 2-10
For we all often stumble and fall and offend in many things. And if anyone does not offend in speech [never says the wrong things], he is a fully developed character and a perfect man, able to control his whole body and to curb his entire nature. James 3: 2-10
The Scriptures go on to say this.
If we set bits in the horses' mouths to make them obey us, we can turn their whole bodies about. Likewise, look at the ships: though they are so great and are driven by rough winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the impulse of the helmsman determines. James 3: 2-10
Even so the tongue is a little member, and it can boast of great things. See how much wood or how great a forest a tiny spark can set ablaze! And the tongue is a fire. James 3: 2-10
[The tongue is a] world of wickedness set among our members, contaminating and depraving the whole body and setting on fire the (the cycle of man's nature) James 3: 2-10
For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea animal, can be tamed and has been tamed by human genius (nature). James 3: 2-10
But the human tongue can be tamed by no man. It is a restless (undisciplined, irreconcilable) evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless the Lord and Father, and with it we curse men who were made in God's likeness!
Out of the same mouth come forth blessing and cursing. These things, my brethren, ought not to be so. James 3: 2-10
Warnings from James speak of Maturity "For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well." James 3:2, NASB95
Defilement proceeds outward from within a person
What comes out of person is what defiles them For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart." Matthew 12:34, NASB95
" But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man." Matthew 15:18, NASB95 The heart is deceitfully wicked Who can know it? Jeremiah 17.9
Your entire body is directed by your mouth "Now if we put the bits into the horses mouths so that they will obey us, we direct their entire body as well." James 3:3, NASB95
The course of our life is directed by the tongue "And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell." James 3:6, NASB95
We have the ability to speak either a blessing or a curse into our own lives and into the lives of others Proverbs 18
We can either Bless or Curse by the words that leave our mouth Wrong words kill
A perverse person spreads dissension, and a gossip and separates the closest friends.. Proverbs 16:28

"Put away from you a deceitful mouth And put devious speech far from you." Proverbs 4:24, NASB95
The Bible says it will be our words that will testify either for or against us For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned. " Matthew 12:36-37, NASB95
The Bible teaches what kind of words should leave your mouth Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person. Col 4.6
A sign of the mature Christian Words from the mouth of a wise man are gracious Eccl 10.12
And regarding Jesus. all were speaking well of Him, and wondering at the gracious words which were falling from His lips; and they were saying, Is this not Joseph s son? graciousness is poured upon Your lips; Psa 45.2 Amplified
