Wrong Words and Wrong Actions Death and Life and are in the Power of the tongue Proverbs 18.21

Opening Scripture Reading is from Amplified Bible James 3: 2-10

For we all often stumble and fall and offend in many things. And if anyone does not offend in speech [never says the wrong things], he is a fully developed character and a perfect man, able to control his whole body and to curb his entire nature. James 3: 2-10

The Scriptures go on to say this.

If we set bits in the horses' mouths to make them obey us, we can turn their whole bodies about. Likewise, look at the ships: though they are so great and are driven by rough winds, they are steered by a very small rudder wherever the impulse of the helmsman determines. James 3: 2-10

Even so the tongue is a little member, and it can boast of great things. See how much wood or how great a forest a tiny spark can set ablaze! And the tongue is a fire. James 3: 2-10

[The tongue is a] world of wickedness set among our members, contaminating and depraving the whole body and setting on fire the (the cycle of man's nature) James 3: 2-10

For every kind of beast and bird, of reptile and sea animal, can be tamed and has been tamed by human genius (nature). James 3: 2-10

But the human tongue can be tamed by no man. It is a restless (undisciplined, irreconcilable) evil, full of deadly poison. With it we bless the Lord and Father, and with it we curse men who were made in God's likeness!

Out of the same mouth come forth blessing and cursing. These things, my brethren, ought not to be so. James 3: 2-10

Warnings from James speak of Maturity "For we all stumble in many ways. If anyone does not stumble in what he says, he is a perfect man, able to bridle the whole body as well." James 3:2, NASB95

Defilement proceeds outward from within a person

What comes out of person is what defiles them For the mouth speaks out of that which fills the heart." Matthew 12:34, NASB95

" But the things that proceed out of the mouth come from the heart, and those defile the man." Matthew 15:18, NASB95 The heart is deceitfully wicked Who can know it? Jeremiah 17.9

Your entire body is directed by your mouth "Now if we put the bits into the horses mouths so that they will obey us, we direct their entire body as well." James 3:3, NASB95

The course of our life is directed by the tongue "And the tongue is a fire, the very world of iniquity; the tongue is set among our members as that which defiles the entire body, and sets on fire the course of our life, and is set on fire by hell." James 3:6, NASB95

We have the ability to speak either a blessing or a curse into our own lives and into the lives of others Proverbs 18

We can either Bless or Curse by the words that leave our mouth Wrong words kill

A perverse person spreads dissension, and a gossip and separates the closest friends.. Proverbs 16:28

Wrong words are like scorching fire Proverbs 16.27

Proverbs 6:12, NASB95 "A worthless person, Is the one who walks with a perverse mouth," The The words words that that you you speak speak determine determine the the kind kind of person of person you you are are

"Put away from you a deceitful mouth And put devious speech far from you." Proverbs 4:24, NASB95

The Bible says it will be our words that will testify either for or against us For by your words you will be justified, and by your words you will be condemned. " Matthew 12:36-37, NASB95

The Bible teaches what kind of words should leave your mouth Let your speech always be with grace, as though seasoned with salt, so that you will know how you should respond to each person. Col 4.6

A sign of the mature Christian Words from the mouth of a wise man are gracious Eccl 10.12

And regarding Jesus. all were speaking well of Him, and wondering at the gracious words which were falling from His lips; and they were saying, Is this not Joseph s son? graciousness is poured upon Your lips; Psa 45.2 Amplified

Example how the rest of your life are affected by your Words

The Kings Words "Solomon reigned forty years in Jerusalem over all Israel. And Solomon slept with his fathers and was buried in the city of his father David; 2 Chronicles 9:30-10:1, NASB95

The Kings Words and his son Rehoboam reigned in his place. Then Rehoboam went to Shechem, for all Israel had come to Shechem to make him king." 2 Chronicles 9:30-10:1, NASB95

"So they sent and summoned him. When Jeroboam and all Israel came, they spoke to Rehoboam, saying, Your father made our yoke hard; now therefore lighten the hard service of your father and his heavy yoke which he put on us, and we will serve you. " 2 Chronicles 10:3-4, NASB95

"He said to them, Return to me again in three days. So the people departed." 2 Chronicles 10:5, NASB95

"Then King Rehoboam consulted with the elders who had served his father How do you counsel me to answer this people? They spoke to him, saying, If you will be kind to this people and please them and speak good words to them, then they will be your servants forever. " 2 Chronicles 10:6-7, NASB95

"But he forsook the counsel of the elders which they had given him, and consulted with the young men who grew up with him and served him." 2 Chronicles 10:8, NASB95

"So he said to them, What counsel do you give that we may answer this people, who have spoken to me, saying, Lighten the yoke which your father put on us? " 2 Chronicles 10:9, NASB95

Wrong Words Spoken "The young men who grew up with him spoke to him, saying, Thus you shall say to the people who spoke to you, saying, Your father made our yoke heavy, but you make it lighter for us. Thus you shall say to them, My little finger is thicker than my father s loins!" 2 Chronicles 10:10, NASB95

Wrong Words Spoken " Whereas my father loaded you with a heavy yoke, I will add to your yoke; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions. " 2 Chronicles 10:11, NASB95

"So Jeroboam and all the people came to Rehoboam on the third day as the king had directed, saying, Return to me on the third day. The king answered them harshly, and King Rehoboam forsook the counsel of the elders. 2 Chronicles 10:12-14, NASB95

He spoke to them according to the advice of the young men, saying, My father made your yoke heavy, but I will add to it; my father disciplined you with whips, but I will discipline you with scorpions. " 2 Chronicles 10:12-14, NASB95

"When all Israel saw that the king did not listen to them the people answered the king, saying, What portion do we have in David? We have no inheritance in the son of Jesse. Every man to your tents, O Israel; Now look after your own house, David. So all Israel departed to their tents." 2 Chronicles 10:16, NASB95
