Ritter WELCOME & ANNOUNCEMENTS Katie Estes CENTERING SILENCE CALL TO WORSHIP (responsive) Sing a new song to God, all the earth. Bless God s name from day to day. God is doing marvelous works among us. Let all nations declare the glory of God. Our God is to be praised as Creator of all things. Let us turn away from our idols to worship God alone. Honor, majesty, beauty and strength belong to God. We will worship together in God s sanctuary. Tremble before God, all people and nations. God will judge us all with righteousness and truth. Let the heavens be glad; let the earth rejoice! God is with us and will answer our prayers. *HYMN *HYMN God of the Ages, Whose Almighty Hand Hymnal # 331 *PRAYER OF CONFESSION (unison) Tom Watson God of all people, forgive us for claiming to be Christians when our faith is so shallow and our good works are so limited. We have not dared to trust you fully. We have not expected your promises to be fulfilled among us. We have not accepted the freedom that is ours in Christ Jesus. Instead, we have guarded our own interests, relied on limited understandings and lingering doubts, held in our emotions, and settled for a lukewarm relationship that we do little to cultivate. O God, forgive us and draw us closer to you. Amen.

*WORDS OF ASSURANCE (responsive) Let the heavens be glad, let the earth rejoice! God answers prayer. What we have truly prayed with conviction has been heard by God. Remember that Jesus Christ gave his life for our sins, to set us free from the evil of our present times. The good news is ours to receive, to integrate into our lives, and to pass on to others. We accept this forgiveness and sing a new song to God, with thanksgiving and praise. *RESPONSE O Master, Let Me Walk with Thee Hymnal # 738 (v. 4 only) A TIME WITH CHILDREN PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION (unison) Kittie Kisby Almighty God, whose power and authority are greater than we can discern, we come to your Word with eagerness to hear more than words. Move among us with healing energy today. Awaken in us a dynamic trust that allows your Spirit to reign in us and work through us to create an inclusive, ministering community. Speak your transforming Word, to us and through us. Amen. PSALTER PSALTER Psalm 96 O.T. p. 550 DUET Resignation arr. You have sent Jesus to demonstrate your healing love for all people, and we want to respond to that gift as grateful disciples. We seek your approval as we present our offerings. May we be as generous in furthering your kingdom on earth as you have been with us. We are delighted that you have joined us to worship the Living God. If you are a first time worship guest, we extend a special welcome to you. Know that as our guest, you are invited to participate in any of the programs offered and we do not expect you to contribute when the offering is received. Today, your presence with us is your offering to God. Photos and/or video may be taken during this worship service. FPC-SSP reserves the right to use said photos or video in church publications, including, but not limited to, bulletins, newsletters, the church website, and social media sites. If you prefer not to appear in these photos or video, please talk to one of the ushers. If you have a prayer request, please use the yellow request cards in the pews. Give the card to an usher before worship or during the first hymn so it can be included in our prayers of the people today and passed on to the prayer chain as well. Children of all ages are welcome in our worship service. We also have professional childcare available for infants and children up to 5 years. The nursery is located at the top of the stairs in the upper level of the Education wing and is always available on those days your child may be restless. If you have an infant who begins to cry during the service, feel free to go into the library with your child and continue to hear the service on the speaker. Please join us after the worship service for a time of fellowship in the Commons. Coffee, juice and treats are available for a minimal charge for members and at no cost for guests. Come and connect with old and new friends as we enjoy fellowship together. Scripture: Luke 7: 1-10 Theme: Second Sunday after Pentecost Our next trip to Feed My Starving Children is tomorrow, May 23, from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. in Eagan. This is a very rewarding experience helping the most impoverished children all around the world survive. Sign up on the kiosk to join us. There are a lot of options for $10 gift cards through our Scrip program, from Amazon to The White Barn Candle Co., and many in between, as well as cards for greater amounts. Graduations, weddings, baby showers, teacher appreciation, and Father s Day may be on your calendar over the next few weeks and a gift card is the perfect gift. Your purchase of these gift cards at face value also earns money for our church we receive a percentage from each card sold. Visit the table in the South Commons this morning following worship. Cards not on hand will be delivered next Sunday. It is time to clean Wentworth Road and we need your help! In case you were not aware, FPC-SSP sponsors a stretch of Wentworth Ave. that entails picking up litter from that road a few times a year. We plan to clean on Saturday, June 4, starting at 8:30 a.m. and finishing up no later than noon. We will meet at St. Stephen s Church on Wentworth & Charlton at 8:30, bring your own work gloves, orange vests and cleaning supplies will be provided. The more people that help, the sooner the work is finished! We will start a Wednesday evening June Jam at 7 pm on June 8, with the goal of coming up with pieces to play at our outdoor worship service on June 26. Interested in joining this group? Talk to Linda Kachelmeier. Next Sunday, May 29 Music: Charlotte Hubbard & Linda Kachelmeier, organ/piano duet Adult Education: History of Memorial Day with Jennifer Rose Announcements Don t forget your Neighbors! We did a fabulous job donating food and funds to the March food drive for Neighbors, Inc., but the need is ongoing. Our Neighbors food bin is currently filled with more paper bags than food, but we know that you can change that. Please bring a non-perishable food item with you the next time you come to the church and place it in the bin. Need a reminder for when you go to the store? Grab a shopping list from the welcome table near the office. Malawi needs water, and our coins can help. We have recently heard from the Holm family, missionaries we support through our denomination, that there is currently a drought and a dire need for water for everything from drinking, to bathing, to watering crops. We will be emptying the coins and cash from the water jar this week and sending the donations to help with their efforts to provide clean water for all. Empty the coins from your pockets and purses into the jar before you leave this morning and it will be put to good use. It is time to register for Camp in a Van! From June 27 to July 1, 9:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., our church becomes a summer camp with help of counselors from Clearwater Forest. Songs, snacks, stories, a campfire, cookout, a mission project and more await kids entering Preschool through 6th grade. The cost is $40 for the entire week. Junior and Senior High Youth are encouraged to sign up as helpers. Camp registration forms can be found at the kiosk in the Commons.
