The Annual Vidyalaya Patrika is a testimony of the students writing ability. Thanks to innovation and technology we are able to reach out to a larger group of readers than ever before by launching our Vidyalaya Patrika as an e- magazine with the hope that a large number of people can access the various compositions of our budding poets and writers. By viewing the compositions of their peers many other inhibited studentwriters will be encouraged to wield the pen. On this optimistic note, I wish you a happy reading. SANSKRIT SECTION MR. P. From the Principal s desk It is the supreme art of the teacher to awaken joy in creative expression and knowledge Albert Einstein. The session 2015-16 began on a joyous note with K.v.No.1 Salt Lake having scored the highest P.I. in Kolkata Region. We decided to let this be an impetus to think things differently, to innovate to experiment keeping in sync with the dynamic technological changes in the field of education.when it was time to release the Vidyalaya Patrika I thought why not an e-magazine? The response among the children was overwhelming who were eager to try out this new genre. The enthusiasm of the students made us take the initiative of launching the e- patrika of K.V.No.1 Salt Lake(2014-15). Through the e-magazine we can reach out to a greater number of people and hope many of our budding writers and poets can contribute their compositions online and find a platform for their artistic expressions. I hope you enjoy reading the magazine as much as we did launching it. Dr. (Mrs) Suman Lata Principal 2
TREASURE Life with treasure, does not give any pleasure, One who has it, enjoys its power from one who lacks it One who Dies being thirsty. Luck causes it to be, but destiny loses it, Where rich may be and desire retreat. Ability makes them desirous but they should be cautious. Reputation binds them, but suggestion is needed. To a person observing it, waste it not like anything else. And a person chasing wealth doesn t run after false dreams. Some spend their lives, searching in holes and digs. And many with their greed, loot it with shovels and troves This is the role of treasure that it plays in our leisure. BY- Simran Gupta I am a last bench boy! I am a cheater, But, I don t cheat humanity. I hate studies, But I love technology. I flirt with flirters, But I respect lovers. World can t change me, But I can change the world. I don t have books in my hand. I have revolutionary ideas in my mind. I am the rarest race on earth. Meet me I am a last bench boy. Joydeep mandal XI-C 3
A GREEN LIFE A tiny seed declares my arrival From under the ground, that guides me To climb up high and touch the sky And make a better living for thee. When I m in the sapling stage It s time for my growth. Soft and tender at this age I need food and care both I fret whenever there s a storm And get terrified by thunder I can t make out what s wrong With people; Why they cut me I wonder!? What you kill me for? Oh, why? My life is not for free! I climb up high and touch the sky To make a better living for thee. On maturing I occupy a blanket of flowers Which brighten up many busy lives? Little creatures set up their homes for hours Numerous nests and a hundred hives. My departure depends on humanity If I m lucky enough to survive. I may help man get prosperity All through, and even after my life. To keep me alive, man must strive If he wants his successors to see That I climb and touch the sky And make a better living for thee. BY- Raktim Saha Class X A 4
CHILDHOOD Childhood was when I loved to play, With my lazer gun throughout the day, I used to dance with the rhythm of rain, Crawling with my cars and trains. Childhood was the time, When I was lonely and shy, And no one durst to make me cry, But thought twice to speak with me high. Now as a teen. I saw responsibility waiting for me, And expectations laid on me, So,I had to concentrate on my goals. I used to go to the park, In the evening before it was dark, And used to squeal with joy, Whenever, a friend gave me a pie. But now I am thirteen And wonder, what I was like before a teen, That was a time I loved magic and mystery, But, now it is a stage to remember physics and chemistry. Was it then, that I was best Or is it now I am smartest Others don t know what to say But I know childhood had its own way Animesh Ankur Class-IXD 5
Spring Spring is the blessing of nature, It is the season of glee; Where one can enjoy, The beauty of nature for free! The grass is green, The water is limpid, The flowers are blooming around Oh! The nature is mystique. Oh the season of heavens, You decorate our earth with jewels Of magical flowers & leaves The only thing I can say about you is Fantastic!!! Anuksha Hazra Class ix A What s a star? What s a star? Some say that s my lord Some say that s my grand-dad who s gone. What s a star? Scientist says that s a ball of gases Christians say that our all mighty Jesus What s a star? Some say that are blubs hanging in the night sky And some say that s the night guide What s a star? That s a real little puzzle Which nobody can say. Nibedita chakraborty Class- VIII D 6
JOURNEY OF MY LIFE Journey of my life Is like a train journey, Travelling to faraway place. Crossing stations, Some big, some small. Passing by the greeneries, The trees, the plants. Running on the track, Chasing other trains, Passing by the houses across the fields. People working in the fields, Some smiling, some asking me Where I m going. There are signals by the track, As if paving the way for me. But after all these, I have yet to reach my destination. And I know I will reach my destination, And this will be my pillar of success. - Mahendra Nath Hembram Class-IX B 7
I learned never to give up When a toddler was I, My mother saw, never would I wake up. Lazy as goose was I, Who never liked to try? One day I got a doll for my present, Who fell for a 101 times? But tried to get up on its own, At the same time. I played with it, And my mother saw it, Then she told- See this doll; it falls uncountable times, But it stands up Without any fail. This was the day, When I learned, never to give up For anything in my way. Now, when a toddler was I, My mother saw, I would try, To walk by Just like a little ant. Who never learned to give way? To the people behind. Full of praise was my mother, Who saw The every little thing I learned, Made me climb the stairs of Happiness. This was the day when I learned, never to give up. ADORABLE NAINITAL I m sitting beside the window, stretching my memory back In the waves of reminisce, I pick up one of the sack, I open it and my eyes glowed up in light, I found myself in Nainital at first sight. Those green mountains in fog, Those sparkling lakes below the clouds. The nature is like heather, And the hotel beds are like feathers. The fresh air of morn, Can be felt by eating a corn. The embellished temple with god, I was watching it, standing beside a pillar like rod. The fragrance of Nainital is so rich and refreshing, That even a sinner dispels his evil thoughts by crushing. I was feeling so light, But for sorrow I couldn t sleep well the last night. I opened my eyes; I m still sitting beside the window, Why? Because I m still searching for the pastoral meadow.
