Mercy s Ever-Youthful Face Our Sisters in the midst of the pilgrims at the WYD 2016 God extends his mercy to us constantly, but it can never cease to surprise us. This was overwhelmingly felt by the Fort Wayne - South Bend pilgrimage group that traveled to Krakow, Poland for the 2016 World Youth Day. Day in and day out, everyone perceived the touch of the merciful Father in unique, unforeseen ways. The presence of Our Lady was most certainly felt on this pilgrimage. Before reaching Krakow, we stopped in Czestochowa to visit the icon that is well known across the world and much loved by the Polish people. Despite the large crowd surrounding Czestochowa, there was definitely a peace that pervaded the entire monastery. Poland is truly a country of the saints. In almost every church or gathering space created for World Youth Day, relics could be found, especially of St. John Paul II. The Eucharist was also everywhere. The churches in Krakow were opened all day and it was not unusual to find adoration being carried out in one of the many side chapels. Of course, being so close to the Vicar of Christ was also a privilege. Every time the Holy Father spoke, he did so with fatherly care. He encouraged the youth to keep believing in the power of Christ and to bring Christ to others because Mercy has an ever-youthful face. There is so much more that could be said about the beauty of the churches, the hospitality of the Polish people, and the grace-guided encounters with pilgrims from different countries. Regardless, the World Youth Day pilgrimage has left a deep impression on all of the Sisters who were privileged to travel with the diocese. As we draw close to the end of the Year of Mercy, let us thank God for the many times He has shown us his love and mercy. Fall 2016 World Youth Day Jubilee Steps along the Journey of Religious Life
