Anne Boudreau 366-3646 (study) 262-6258 (cell) e-mail address: annejan@telus.blackberry.net Clerk: Kim Corey Organist: Elaine Raymond Choir Director: Lynn Craig -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- October 4 th, 2015 19 th Sunday after Pentecost World Communion Sunday Prelude WE GATHER TO PRAISE GOD * Please stand as you are able Lighting of the Christ Candle Welcome and Announcements *Introit: Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say, Rejoice! Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say, Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice! And again I say, Rejoice! Rejoice! Rejoice! And again I say, Rejoice! *Call to Worship: Leader: Around the world God s banquet is prepared for all people. People: We come eagerly to be fed. Leader: Around the world people are gathering to break bread and share wine. People: We are gathered together in song and prayer.

Leader: People: Leader: 2 We have come from east and west, from north and south, to sit at Christ s table. Compassion, love, and grace are poured out like fine wine. Come, taste and see that the Lord is good! *Hymn: When mothers of Salem When mothers of Salem Their children brought to Jesus, The stern disciples drove them back And bade them to depart: But Jesus saw them ere they fled And sweetly smiled and kindly said, Suffer little children to come unto Me. For I will receive them And fold them to My bosom: I ll be a shepherd to these lambs, O drive them not away; For if their hearts to Me they give, They shall with Me in glory live: Suffer little children to come unto Me. How kind was our Savior To bid these children welcome! But there are many thousands Who have never heard His name; The Bible they have never read, They know not that the Savior said, Suffer little children to come unto Me. O soon may the heathen Of every tribe and nation Fulfill Thy blessèd Word and cast Their idols all away! O shine upon them from above And show Thyself a God of love, Teach the little children to come unto Thee!

Prayer of Approach 3 Prayer of Confession God of mercy, when the road of life is smooth, it is easy to remain faithful; but when life becomes rough, we quickly fall away from you. We confess that too often we have failed to speak and act with kindness; to care for others as we have been cared for, to welcome others as we have been welcomed, and to live as forgiven and beloved people. We remember the good not done, words not spoken, and grace not given or received. Hear us now as we make our silent confession to you. (silent prayer). Amen. Assurance of Pardon Family Hymn: Jesus loves me (tune and chorus 373) (New words by Fred Joblin. From Whole People of God Resources) Jesus loves me, this I know, For the Bible tells me so. If I m slow or even late, He will still think I am great. Yes, Jesus loves me Jesus welcomes me at play; He won t say I m in the way. He won t yell or call me names. He joins in our fun and games. Yes, Jesus loves me Jesus let the children stay, He did not send us away, He said to become like us. Doesn t that sound marvelous? Yes, Jesus loves me Time with the Y-POG (Young People of God): WE LISTEN FOR GOD S WORD Prayer of Illumination: Open our eyes, Lord

4 Open our eyes, Lord, we want to see Jesus, To reach out and touch him, and say that we love him Open our ears, Lord, and help us to listen. Open our eyes, Lord, we want to see Jesus. 5 *Apostle s Creed 539 The Great Prayer of Thanksgiving The Lord be with you. And with you also. Lift up your hearts. We lift them up to the Lord. Let us give thanks to the Lord our God. It is right to give God thanks and praise. The people join in the ancient song after these words; from every time and place, to proclaim with them your glory, in their unending hymn: Holy, Holy, Holy Lord, God of power and might, heaven and earth are full of your glory. Hosanna in the highest. Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord. Hosanna in the highest. Prayers of thanksgiving continue and the people are invited to proclaim the mystery of faith: Christ has died. Christ is risen. Christ will come again. 8 Psalm 26 One: Show that I am right, Lord! I stay true to myself, and I have trusted you without doubting. All: Test my thoughts and find out what I am like. One: I never forget your kindness, and I am always faithful to you. All: I don t spend my time with worthless liars or go with evil crowds. One: I wash my hands, Lord, to show my innocence, All: and I worship at your altar, while gratefully singing about your wonders. One: I love the temple where you live, and where your glory shines. All: Don t sweep me away, as you do sinners. One: Don t punish me with death as you do those people who are brutal or full of meanness or who bribe others. All: I stay true to myself. Be kind and rescue me. One: Now I stand on solid ground! All: And when your people meet, I will praise you, Lord. The minister may be contacted by phone at the church, in her home (study), or by cell, or at any time by text or email.
