Pastor Lisa At the end of every confirmation class, I ask the students what their high and low points were during the past week. Generally the high points varied, but the low? School! Almost every week for every student, the low point they would mention was school related. Now, maybe I was just a big nerd in middle and high school (I was!), but this answer always seemed to surprise me. Was school truly going that badly? Maybe, maybe not but as the school year drew to a close, I figured out why school was so often a low point in their week: they were ready for summer! They were ready to spend more time with friends, play baseball or other sports, and go to camp or on vacation. But now it s August, and soon it will be time for them to head back to school, and for many of us to get back into our own routines for the school year. They may not be ready for school; adults may not be prepared for all manner of busy things to start up again. For some students, this new school year may mean being at a whole new building with new teachers and some new friends. For adults, it may mean starting at a new job, getting used to having fewer parenting or grand parenting things to do during the day. It s all an adjustment to make and it s a new start which I hope and pray is exciting for you in your own way. As we as a congregation prepare for the renewal of our education year with things like Wowsome Wednesday, confirmation class, the fall kick-off, and choir let us come together and live into whatever the Spirit will do in and through our ministries. Let us pray for the renewal of ourselves, our life together, and all that we will do to share the Gospel in our communities. Let us support one an- Continued on Page 5

Pastor Lisa Continued from Page 1 other when we are not ready for the new(ish) routines of the year. Let us support our youth so that their lows for each week maybe aren t that school is hard or boring, but rather that their highs may be that they are learning new things that will prepare them to be well-rounded and faithful adults. This time of year gets us ready for a new start, a resurrection, in a way. A chance to start over, even if the routines of life seem familiar. May God look upon you with grace and peace as you finish off the summer season, and look with hope to all that may come this fall. In Christ, Pastor Lisa Page 5
