CINCINNATI AREA BAPTIST ASSOCIATION a network of partnering churches February 2016 Director of Missions David Coppedge Looking Back Over 48 Years Thanks to all who have prayed for me in the past 48 years that our God would count me worthy of this calling. Wherefore also we pray always for you, that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfil all the good pleasure of his goodness, and the work of faith with power: that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and ye in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ. 2 Thessalonians 1:11-12 In fall of 1967 while a student at Cumberland College, I was called to be pastor of Pine Knot Baptist Church. In the Spring of 1968 Sonya and I married. This began 48 years of ministry in several states and Uruguay. For eighteen years I was honored to pastor several wonderful churches. Then in 1985 Sonya and I were appointed by the IMB as missionaries to Montevideo, Uruguay. During this time I planted churches, worked with church planters, and taught evangelism, missions, and church planting in the Baptist Seminary. In 1999 Sonya and I were appointed by NAMB to serve in Ohio. Southern Hills and Warren County Baptist Associations called me to serve as DOM. In 2013 Southern Hills and the Cincinnati Associations merged forming CABA where I served CABA as DOM and NAMB as a Church Planting Catalyst. February 29, 2016, I will retire. Many friends ask me what s next. I am still praying for the answer to that question. Sonya and I will remain in the area and we look forward to discovering God's next assignment. I want to thank CABA s current and past staff members, ALT members, and CABA s team leaders for helping CABA become one of finest Baptist Associations in the Midwest. Thank you CABA churches for your outstanding support of the association and for allowing me to preach in many of your pulpits. Spring Meeting Monday, April 4, 2016 @ 6:45 pm Mason FBC (735 Reading Rd, Mason OH 45040) Immediately follow the Spring Meeting there will be a time of fellowship to celebrate the retirement of David Coppedge.

Collegiate Ministry Ken Dillard Just wanted to let everyone know that Spring Break is coming. This may sound premature if you look out the window as you read this. Probably some traces of snow left around the yard in the shadows with more expected in the next week. But at Collegiate Ministry, we are always looking ahead to the next great opportunity to share Christ and build His kingdom here as it is in Heaven. For Spring Break this year we will partner with the H2O church on the UC campus and the Bridge church at Miami Oxford. We anticipate taking a team of 50 students to Detroit, Michigan to do disaster relief work. In August of 2014 an unexpected large rain storm caused flooding in the Detroit suburb of Warren, MI. impacting 129,000 homes. Teams have been active last summer and over the Christmas break. We will be taking our team in to do carpentry, drywall repair, flooring removal/installation, painting, and survivor care visitations. The greatest part of this opportunity is that there are some primarily Islamic neighborhoods that were impacted by the destruction. With a chance to bring the Gospel alongside of home repairs, some of these neighborhoods have been surprisingly open and receptive to Christian groups bringing aid. What we need are your prayers... prayers for safety as we travel and work in the construction areas and prayers for open hearts and immediate opportunities to share the love of Christ with many residents. Mickey Caison, Project Coordinator for the Disaster Relief project shared, A lot of these people are having problems with the experience of the flood itself. So many people have asked, Where is God in this?. Those types of questions lend themselves to spiritual needs. Please pray that we are ready with a good word, a good work, and a good news for all who are in need. Blessings, Ken Dillard

CABA Youth Team Leader Steven Siekbert Associational Youth Lock-In On February 12, 2016, we will be having our annual associational youth lock-in. The lock-in will start at the First Baptist Church of Mt. Orab, 704 South High Street, Mt. Orab, Ohio 45154 and then move to the YMCA of Clermont County, 2075 James E. Sauls Sr. Drive, Batavia, Ohio 45103. The cost is $15.00 a person, including chaperones. We will provide pizza and pop. Registration and food starts at 9:15 PM and worship starts at 10:30 PM. The lock-in will end by 5:30 AM at the YMCA. There will not be swimming this year but we will have basketball, dodgeball, volleyball, ping pong, foosball, movie room, video game and board games. Passion Weekend 2016 Passion Weekend this year is March 24-26, 2016, at the Christian Union Campground, Greenfield, Ohio 45123. The cost this year is $40.00. Registration will begin at 6:00 PM, Thursday, March 24. We will serve dinner from 6-7:30 PM and worship will start at 8 PM. Pastor Jerome Byrd from the Good News Baptist Church in Cincinnati will be our speaker that night. On Friday we have breakout sessions planned on the following topics: Missionsevangelism, Bullying a Biblical perspective, Pornography a Biblical perspective, Self-worth a Biblical Perspective and others. We will have community evangelism and mission work for a couple of hours Friday afternoon. We will then be coming together that evening after dinner to see Passion of the Christ. We will be leaving for home Saturday morning. This will be a spiritually uplifting and spiritually challenging time for your youth and a lot of fun. The cost includes t- shirt, food and lodging. Register by March 7 to receive your t-shirt and final registration, no t-shirt, is March 17, 2016. Mission Camp 2016 Our annual associational youth mission camp will take place Sunday, June 19 through Friday, June 24, 2016, at the Christian Union Campground, in Greenfield, Ohio. The cost is $115.00 for the week. We will arrive/register on Sunday, 3-5PM and be leaving on Friday morning by 11AM. If you have never taken part in mission camp, please come join us. I challenge you to find anywhere to take your students on mission and see the growth and results that we have seen in recent years and for the price. The Lord has blessed us to see over 80 souls come to Christ in just the past two years of mission camp. We train your students who do the ministry. The adults are just there to help oversee. Your students will have opportunity to lead and work in a ministry of their choice: VBS, Block-Party, construction, soccer camp, cheerleading camp, evangelism and nursing home ministry. We also will have daily training sessions, that in years past have included evangelism, leading small group bible studies and discipleship. In the evening we will have dynamic worship services with time in God s Word. Please prayerfully consider joining us this year. The cost includes t-shirt, food and lodging. Register by June 1, 2016, to receive your t-shirt and final registration, no t-shirt, is due by June 10, 2016. International Mission Trip to the Dominican Republic 2016 The international student mission trip is scheduled for July 12, 2016 to July 18, 2016, to the Dominican Republic. The cost to go is $1200.00 and the student must be high school age. The cost will include food and air fare. We will be doing VBS and evangelism. We will have more information coming. Please prayfully consider going. You will need a passport to go. I will also caution anyone considering going it will be hot in the Dominican Republic during those dates and we will be doing a lot of walking. We only do these trips every three years. The trip will be planned in conjunction with You Turn Ministries. How can your church help! Is your church mission minded? Is your church youth minded with a desire to equip mission leaders for tomorrow? We need the following items donated for Passion Weekend: art/school supplies (play-dough, colored pencils, crayons, chalk, markers), small tablets of paper, coloring/activity books, little games, puzzles, small toys (jump ropes, jacks, metal/plastic cars, balls, silly putty, etc.) books, pencils/pens, pencil sharpeners, small stuffed animals, decks of cards, journals/diaries, flashlights with batteries. Mission Camp, June 19 (pm) to June 24 th, (AM), is looking for people to come help work our kitchen all week, to fix breakfast and manage/maintain the kitchen all week. We also are asking churches to volunteer meals and people to fix them each day for lunch and dinner. Maybe your church could provide lunch one day or dinner or even better, both lunch and dinner for 100-people. We ask for our churches participation in this area because it gives them a chance to be involved and see what we are doing, it keeps the cost down for the camp and provides good homecooked meals to our students and staff. Maybe you can t provide the people but could donate money towards a meal? If your church is interested in helping please contact Pastor Steve Siekbert, Youth Team Leader, at youthcaba@gmail.com or call the associational office.
