PITWM VERSE BY VERSE REVELATION 5:6-14 LESSON: BLESSING, GLORY, AND HONOR FOREVER April 29, 2018 INTRODUCTION: "Revelatin" means an unveiling f things previusly cncealed, therefre, this bk is revealing previusly cncealed infrmatin. 5:1 And I saw in the right hand f him that sat n the thrne a bk written within and n the backside, sealed with seven seals. Jhn cntinues his descriptin f his heavenly visin. "Him that sat n the thrne is the Father." The Father s psitin is Administratr. The term "Gd's right hand" refers t authrity and pwer. 1. The bk He s hlding, He hlds it in His right hand. It has never been pened. It is kept with utmst secrecy; nt knwn by man until Gd Himself is ready t reveal all. What He wills fr thse wh have rejected and cursed Him. What He wills fr thse wh have accepted and wrshipped Him. 2. The bk He s hlding is knwn as a scrll, having writing n the inside n the back. 3. The bk He s hlding is sealed with seven seals. It s large, nt just ne seal culd hld it, but sealed with seven seals. These seals each represent a particular judgment...the judgments that begin in chapter 6. In Jhn s day, bks were written n scrlls, lng and rlled up having the last sheet expsed. After rlling the scrll, it is sealed with clay r a wax seal. Sme scrlls may have mre than ne seal, like the seven seals which had t be brken in rder t unrll the parchment. Each seal pens a sectin f the scrll. When the first seal was pened a certain prtin f the bk was expsed t view and s with each ne fllwing. When the seventh seal was brken then the entire bk wuld have been unrlled. 5:2 And I saw a strng angel prclaiming with a lud vice, Wh is wrthy t pen the bk, and t lse the seals theref? A mighty angel begins t shut with a lud vice, asking wh is able t break the seals and pen the scrll. There is a search fr ne wh is wrthy t pen the bk. Althugh the ne prclaiming was a strng angel, he was neither wrthy t pen the bk nr break the seals. It is saying, wh is the rightful heir; wh has the title t break the seals; wh can take the title-deed and claim the prperty r the wrld? 5:3 And n man in heaven, nr in earth, neither under the earth, was able t pen the bk, neither t lk theren. The search fails. There just was n angel, n created being, n human being, n creature, n spirit being, and n man perfect t pen the scrll any place; n man was wrthy t apprach Gd and t execute His Will thrughut the universe n man in heaven nne in earth nne under the earth. 5:4 And I wept much, because n man was fund wrthy t pen and t read the bk, neither t

PITWM VERSE BY VERSE lk theren. Jhn breaks dwn and cries. Why? At this pint, Jhn saw the greatness f Gd, the supreme majesty and glry f Gd, and nne culd tuch His bk. and he cried. At this pint Jhn wuld nt be able t see the future because n ne was fund wrthy; n man was able t apprach Gd and pen the bk. This is histry written befre it happens and he wuld nt be able t see it, and he cried. 5:5 And ne f the elders saith unt me, Weep nt: behld, the Lin f the tribe f Juda, the Rt f David, hath prevailed t pen the bk, and t lse the seven seals theref. All f a sudden ne f the 24 elders, wh were representatives f the church, steps frth and tells Jhn t stp weeping, fr he prclaims that there is One fund t pen the bk and t versee the climactic events f the end time. He is knwn as 1. The Lin f the tribe f Judah. This is the title f the Messiah. The symbl f the lin shws that He is the strngest and mst pwerful member f the tribe f Israel. Judah was the strngest tribe f Israel. The tribe f Judah was the tribe f David frm which the kingly line prceeded. 2. The Rt f David. The Messiah was t be f the husehld f David, f the rt and seed f Jesse, f his family tree, f his bld, f his stem the prphesied Sn f David the Messiah. Rev.22:16 testifies f this. 3. The One wh has prevailed. What has He prevailed ver? He has cnquered sin. He has cnquered death. He has cnquered this evil wrld. He has cnquered Satan and all ther evil frces He has cnquered all rule and authrity and pwer. He has cnquered hell. Therefre, the persn wh pens this bk must be the persn wh went t Calvary s crss and died. By dying n the crss He purchased the entire wrld t be His wn. It was His when He created it and it is His fr He purchased it back with His bld frm the enemy, Satan, when man had frfeited it. Jesus Christ is the nly One wh can grasp exactly what the Bk is saying, and carry ut and execute the events. The nly One Persn wh is able t d this is n mere man but, He is the Sn f Gd Himself, the Lrd Jesus Christ! LESSON: I. THE LAMB IN THE MIDST OF THE THRONE REVELATION 5:6-7 5:6 And I beheld, and, l, in the midst f the thrne and f the fur beasts, and in the midst f the elders, std a Lamb as it had been slain, having seven hrns and seven eyes, which are the seven Spirits f Gd sent frth int all the earth. This is a supreme mment fr Jhn as he behlds the Lamb f Gd standing in heaven in the midst f the thrne and in the midst f the elders. He was expecting t see a kingly lin but he sees a slain lamb! The Lamb is nw becme the fcus f Jhn s visin. At this time He was nt like a lin (symblizing His authrity and pwer) but like a lamb (symblizing His humble submissin). He is a lin t cnquer Satan, a lamb t satisfy the justice f Gd, but they are One! He sees The "fur beasts" r "living creatures" prbably nt real animals, guarding and leading thers in wrship and prclaiming Gd s hliness. These fur Beings are (the x endurance), (the lin majesty and pwer), (the man intelligence), and (the eagle swiftness).

PITWM VERSE BY VERSE The "elders." The 24 elders wh fall dwn befre the thrne. The "slain Lamb" having seven hrns and seven eyes. "Slain" means His crucified bdy. He was nt dead fr He was standing and alive in the midst f the thrne and thse surrunding the thrne. He had gne thrugh the suffering, pain, agny, and humiliatin fr us. He was the Perfect sacrifice fr ur sins. This is the reasn Jesus Christ stands in the center stage f heaven. He stands as One wh has lved and given Himself fr us. He stands as the slain Lamb f Gd wh has taken away the sins f the wrld (Jh.1:29). The "seven hrns" symblize strength and pwer. He is Omniptent, all pwerful! "Seven" means perfectin; cmpleteness. "All pwer is given unt me in heaven and in earth" Matt.28:18. He is the Lrd s servant, the Messiah wh was led t the slaughter bearing the iniquity f thers. The "seven eyes" speak f cmplete wisdm, perfect knwledge. The Lamb is all-knwing Omniscient! "Fr the eyes f the Lrd run t and fr thrughut the whle earth, t shw himself strng in behalf f them whse heart is perfect twards him" 2 Chrn.16:9. They represent the "seven Spirits f Gd" sent frth in all the earth. Seven hrns and seven eyes means He has cmpleted His task which means He has cmplete pwer and wisdm which causes us t have cmplete victry! Rev.4:5 says " and there are seven lamps f fire burning befre the thrne, which are the seven Spirits f Gd." 1 These are best understd as a representatin f the Hly Spirit in a sevenfld way rather than seven individual spirits. There is but One Hly Spirit. The seven lamps f fire therefre are the means by which Jhn is infrmed f the presence f the Hly Spirit. In the heavenly scene it may be cncluded n the basis f bth chapters 4 and 5 that all three Persns f the Trinity are in evidence, each in His particular frm f revelatin. 5:7 And he came and tk the bk ut f the right hand f him that sat upn the thrne. The Sn always acknwledged the Father and the Father always acknwledged the Sn. In Ps.110:1, it said "The Lrd said unt my Lrd, Sit thu at my right hand, until I make thine enemies thy ftstl." S therefre, Jesus acknwledges Gd in Rev.1:1 "The Revelatin f Jesus Christ, which Gd gave... Gd and Jesus Christ are One. The tw aspects are: Gd is sitting n the thrne and the Lamb is seen standing in this chapter. Jesus cmes and takes the scrll ut f the hand f the Father. His wrk f redemptin is dne. He receives all authrity. This is hw Jhn sees it. He will nw execute judgment n the wrld. He has the authrity t d s. He has Authrity ver the end f the wrld. And He is ready t carry ut and execute the events. II. THE WORSHIP AROUND THE THRONE REVELATION 5:8-14 5:8 And when he had taken the bk, the fur beasts and fur and twenty elders fell dwn befre the Lamb, having every ne f them harps, and glden vials full f durs, which are the prayers f saints. As sn as Jesus tk the bk, He assumed authrity, all f heaven and earth breaks lse in sng f praise and adratin: men (v.8), angels (v.11), and f every creature (v.13). There were five waves f praise and wrship ging n, that is, when ne finishes, the ther begins. 1 http://bible.rg/seriespage/4-church-heaven

PITWM VERSE BY VERSE I. The first wave began with the fur beasts and fur and twenty elders. They fell dwn befre the Lamb praising Him having musical instruments f harps and glden vials full f durs, which were filled with the prayers f saints which ascended upwards with a sweet smell. "Fr it is written, As I live, saith the Lrd, every knee will bw t me, and every tngue cnfess t Gd" Rm.14:11. 5:9 And they sung a new sng, saying, Thu art wrthy t take the bk, and t pen the seals theref: fr thu wast slain, and hast redeemed us t Gd by thy bld ut f every kindred, and tngue, and peple, and natin; At this pint, II. The secnd wave came frth frm the fur beasts and fur and twenty elders singing a new sng. A new turn f events had ccurred! In this new sng they are nw singing f the wrthiness f Jesus which is a reasn why the Lamb culd nly take the scrll. 1. He is the One that was slain fr man. 2 He died and He vercame death. Nw, He s alive and He will always live. 2. He is the One that has redeemed us t Gd by His bld. We came ut f every kindred, and tngue, and peple, and natin. 2 When Christ died, he tk away the sins f the peple. By His death, He purchased His peple back fr Gd. That s why the sng says that "Yu are wrthy t take the bk; Yu are wrthy t pen the seals, fr Yu were slain, and have redeemed us t Gd by Yur bld ut f every kindred, and tngue, and peple, and natin." N ne else culd have dne it His bld went beynd any barrier! There is n prejudice r discriminatin with Christ; n favrites and n partiality. They cme frm all the cuntries f the wrld. N ne is beynd His reach. 5:10 And hast made us unt ur Gd kings and priests: and we shall reign n the earth. The sng cntinues: "Yu have made kings and priests f Gd wh shall reign n earth." N ne else culd d this. He is the One wh 2 made Gd s peple a kingdm and priests t reign n earth serving Him. 5:11 And I beheld, and I heard the vice f many angels rund abut the thrne and the beasts and the elders: and the number f them was ten thusand times ten thusand, and thusands f thusands; There were many angels arund the thrne, alng with the beasts and elders. Their number is astunding. We can t imagine the innumerable number f angels 10,000 X 10,000=100millin & thusands f thusands. Angels are spiritual beings: They bring messages (Lk.1:26); prtect Gd s peple (Dan.6:22); ffer encuragement (Gen.16:7); give guidance (Ex.14:19); bring punishment (2Sam.24:16); patrl the earth (Ez.1:9-14); and fight the frces f evil (2Kgs.6:16-18, Rev.20:1). The angels here are the gd angels, a number t large t cunt. 5:12 Saying with a lud vice, Wrthy is the Lamb that was slain t receive pwer, and riches, and wisdm, and strength, and hnur, and glry, and blessing. After they fell dwn (v.8), brke ut with musical instruments (v.8), and sung a new sng (v.9), 2 http://www.easyenglish.inf/bible-cmmentary/revelatin-lbw.htm

III. PITWM VERSE BY VERSE The third wave came frth frm the angels (vv.11-12) with a lud vice f praise and wrship. They were all n ne accrd saying "Wrthy is the Lamb that was slain t receive pwer, and riches, and wisdm, and strength, and hnur, and glry, and blessing." We see seven pints t their sng unt the Lamb. 1. pwer They praise Him fr His pwer. He is Omniptent; able t pen Gd s bk and carry ut and execute Gd s Will. 2. riches They praise Him fr His riches. He pssesses the wealth t meet any need thrughut the universe; any need that we r any ther creature may need. 3. wisdm They praise Him fr His wisdm. He is Omniscient, seeing all and knwing all. He knws all abut Gd and heaven, and all abut us and ur wrld with all its temptatins and trials. 4. strength They praise Him fr His strength. He has infinite strength. All He has t d is speak the Wrd and His will is dne. 5. hnur They praise Him fr His hnr. He is the Sn f Gd pssessing the very nature f Gd! 6. glry They praise Him fr His glry. He is the Supreme Glry. His glry shines brighter than the sun t give light in the spiritual wrld r dimensin. In Him is n flaw r defect whatsever. 7. blessing They praise Him fr His blessings. All blessings have cme frm Him. He deserves all the blessings that heaven and earth can give, fr He has blessed all. 5:13 And every creature which is in heaven, and n the earth, and under the earth, and such as are in the sea, and all that are in them, heard I saying, Blessing, and hnur, and glry, and pwer, be unt him that sitteth upn the thrne, and unt the Lamb fr ever and ever. IV. The furth wave came frm every creature in heaven, n the earth, under the earth, and in the sea saying "Blessing, and hnur, and glry, and pwer t Him (the Lamb) wh sits upn the thrne." Never has there been a chrus f wrship as will be seen in the glrius Day f Redemptin when all creatin shall praise Him fr He is wrthy t step frward and take the Bk f destiny, and He is wrthy t rule and reign ver all histry, bth nw and in the last days thrughut all f eternity, wrld withut end. 5:14 And the fur beasts said, Amen. And the fur and twenty elders fell dwn and wrshipped him that liveth fr ever and ever. V. The fifth wave cncludes with a single wrd: Amen frm the fur beasts. And with full circle, the fur and twenty elders all begin again as they fall dwn and wrship the One that lives frever and ever as dne in the first wave. Nw, I believe this praise is a cntinuus wave ging n nw in heaven. They all ccur in parts r segments and we will be able t see all f this with ur eyes, and will participate, in the end! Hallelujah!

PITWM VERSE BY VERSE SUMMARY: Jhn lked and saw a Lamb standing befre the twenty-fur Elders, in frnt f the thrne and the Living Beings, and n the Lamb were wunds that nce had caused His death. He had seven hrns and seven eyes, which represent the sevenfld Spirit f Gd, sent ut int every part f the wrld. He stepped frward and tk the scrll frm the right hand f the ne sitting upn the thrne. And as he tk the scrll, the twenty-fur Elders fell dwn befre the Lamb, each with a harp and glden vials filled with incense the prayers f Gd s peple! (5:6-8). They were singing Him a new sng with these wrds: Yu are wrthy t take the scrll and break its seals and pen it; fr yu were slain, and yur bld has bught peple frm every natin as gifts fr Gd. And yu have gathered them int a kingdm and made them priests f ur Gd; they shall reign upn the earth (5:9-10). Then in Jhn s visin, he heard the singing f millins f angels surrunding the thrne, and the Living Beings and the Elders: With lud vices they sang The Lamb is wrthy, the Lamb wh was slain. He is wrthy t receive the pwer, and the riches, and the wisdm, and the strength, and the hnr, and the glry, and the blessing. And he heard everyne in heaven and earth, and frm the dead beneath the earth and in the sea, exclaiming, The blessing and the hnr and the glry and the pwer belng t the ne sitting n the thrne, and t the Lamb frever and ever. Then, while the fur beasts say "Amen", the fur and twenty elders begin again t fall dwn and wrship the One that lives frever and ever. There is a cntinuus wave f praise and wrship ging n nw in heaven (5:11-14).
