July 31, 2016 11 th Sunday After Pentecost FROM THE DESK OF THE PASTOR My dearly beloved, kind and ever-faithful parishioners, I love you all so very much. A priest could not ask for better people to call his own. In thinking what spiritual treasure I could give you this week in the From the Desk of the Pastor, I came up empty. Truthfully, all that crowds my mind lately are thoughts of our children, and especially Martha who is not doing as well as we had hoped by this point. A man who has had many spiritual children took the time today to send me a message of consolation. Upon reading it I soon realized that it was a spiritual bouquet meant not just for me but for all of you as well. Please, read this over with great devotion and meditation. These words are from St. Francis de Sales. The Everlasting God has in His wisdom foreseen from eternity the cross He now presents to you as a gift from His inmost heart. This cross He now sends you He has considered with His all-knowing eyes, understood with His divine mind, tested with His wise justice, warmed with loving arms and weighed with His own hands to see that it be not one inch too large and not one ounce too heavy for you. He has blessed it with His holy name, anointed it with His grace, perfumed it with His consolation, taken one last look at you and your courage, and then sent it to you from heaven, a special greeting from God to you, an alms from the all-merciful love of God Do not look forward to what will happen tomorrow. The same everlasting Father who cares for you today will take care of you tomorrow and every day. Either He will shield you from suffering, or He will give you unfailing strength to bear it. Be at peace then and put aside all anxious thoughts and imaginations. In Christ, Jason, priest and sinner
