Called to be Servants of Christ in Our Community Niagara United Mennonite Church February 25 th, 2018 Called to be Servants of Christ in Our Community expresses our desire to share our faith and love of Jesus Christ with all we meet. We welcome you and hope that your time with us will be enjoyable and enlightening. Families with children are invited to worship together with us in the service. For children 3 years old or younger who are not able to sit through the church service, there is a glassed-in room behind the sanctuary where you may sit with your child and follow along in the service. If you feel a sense of belonging, you are most welcome to be with us. Talk to us about how you can participate. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Our Lighthouse program, which is a time of fellowship and learning for those aged 4 years to Grade 6 is held each Sunday during the Worship Service. Those in Grade 7 and 8 are also welcome to attend. The children will be called to the front for the Children s Moment and then released after that. Parents may pick up their children in the Education Wing at the end of the service. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Current Sermon Series RESOLUTE DISCIPLESHIP WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE TO BE A DISCIPLE OF JESUS? To answer this question, we will consider the words of the apostle Peter who overcame some profound and provocative miscues in his apprenticeship as a follower of Jesus to become a stalwart learner in the discipleship pathway. Beginning with a reluctant faith, he is shaped, mentored, challenged, rebuked and desperately loved by the living Christ into a place of resolute discipleship. From a heart purified through the heat of refining fire he hammers out seven virtues that are to distinguish the character of every Christ follower. When purposely added to our lives, these seven virtues outlined by Peter in the opening verses of his second letter will bring more promise, more life, more of God. Special thank you to the choir and Helping Hands for your participation in the funeral service and fellowship meal held on Tuesday February 20 th. Bailey was rushed into emergency surgery on Friday morning. The family thanks everyone for their thoughts and prayers at this time. Please pray for Martha Wiens as she continues to recover from a painful car accident and stroke. We are glad that she has been moved to a hospital closer to home and also ask for your prayers for pain relief, and that God will give the medical team wisdom as they care for her. While she is not quite ready to receive visitors, cards and well wishes are deeply appreciated. Please wait until the family indicates Martha is up for receiving visits to ensure that your visit will be welcomed.

April Michon deeply thanks all who supported her mom, Joan Michon, in prayer while she was in the hospital last week. She has now been released from hospital and is recovering in the comfort of home. May the healing hand of Jesus be upon her through her recovery, and may the spirit draw her into his peaceful embrace to allow her the time of rest she needs for complete healing, and drawing the Lord s strength back into her body. Please continue to pray for: Audrey Epp & Rosemary (Rhodie) Marshall, as well as those who need our prayers within our church family and wider community, remembering that our Father in Heaven knows the deepest needs of all our hearts at all times. Moving Assistance for a resident at Radiant Care Pleasant Manor. We have a resident in our community (with no church affiliation) that was offered a full care spot in Garden City Manor (St. Catharines). This gentleman is wheelchair bound and incapable of moving his belongings on his own. He also has no family willing to help. On his behalf I am wondering if there would be someone in your congregation who would have a couple of hours on Monday, February 26 to move his possessions: a large TV and a few boxes and suitcases. A mini-van or small pickup truck would easily work. If you are able to help please contact Michael Dyck at Pleasant Manor 905-468-4391 ext.232
