GOOD SHEPHERD LUTHERAN CHURCH A congregation of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America We Are God s People and the Sheep of God s Pasture Psalm 100: 3 A Reconciling In Christ Congregation Pastor Amy Larson Brooke Joyce, Music Director All are welcome at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church. God makes no exceptions. In the spirit of Jesus Christ, we offer trust and respect to all, including those who may experience alienation, distrust, or rejection. We rely on the healing, unconditional love of God to shape our community in the name of the Good Shepherd. In keeping with our welcome, Good Shepherd is a Reconciling In Christ congregation, affirming our welcome to gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender persons to participate fully in the life of our congregation. Welcome Guests. Good Shepherd members welcome you to coffee, food and conversation following worship in the Fellowship Hall (down the east hallway). Everyone please sign and pass the red fellowship pads in the pews so that you can greet those around you by name following worship. All are welcome to come forward to receive the body and blood of Christ in the bread and wine. The bread is gluten-free. Receive the bread with open hands, then dip it into either the chalice of wine or the glass goblet containing grape juice. If you have an allergy to eggs you may request a wafer. If you prefer a blessing, place your arms in front of your chest. You are also welcome to remain in the pew and offer prayers. Ushers will direct you to the communion line which forms at the back of the sanctuary and moves up to the altar rail. If you wish to have the Pastor serve Communion in the pew, please inform one of the ushers before the service begins. During the seven Sundays of the Easter Season, worshippers will stand at the altar rail when receiving communion to celebrate that we have been raised to new life in Christ. Sharing in communion at the altar rail nurtures a sense of APRIL 3, 2016, SECOND SUNDAY OF EASTER ORDER OF WORSHIP From Evangelical Lutheran Worship (red book) and Behold, I Make All Things New Liturgy (blue booklet) - page numbers (P.) in booklet; hymn #s (#) in back of red boo congregational responses in bold GATHERING GATHERING MUSIC: Toccata - Johann Pachelbel PRAYER BELL - WELCOME - ANNOUNCEMENTS GATHERING SONG: #363 Come, You Faithful, Raise the Strain, vs. 1: a vs. 2: high voices, vs. 3: all, vs. 4: low voices, vs. 5: all GREETING - KYRIE - THIS IS THE FEAST - PRAYER OF THE DAY P. 2-5 WORD CHILDREN'S MESSAGE FIRST READING: Acts 5:27-32 The word of the Lord. seven Sundays in the season of Easter, we remember our baptism into the death and resurrection of Christ Jesus. To help us in this remembering, the baptismal font is placed just outside the entrance of the sanctuary during the Easter season and filled with water. As you enter the sanctuary you are invited to dip your finger into the font and make the sign of the cross on your forehead. LSS called upon Luther College professor Todd Green, who wrote the seven pieces that explain the Muslim faith, and Luther Seminary professors who wrote seven responses that bring the Christian perspective into conversation with the Muslim faith. The material for each session also includes discussion questions. Professor Todd Green will lead us in the first session on Sunday, April 10. The following six sessions will be led by Good Shepherd members on Wednesday nights in the Fellowship Hall from 6-7pm (April 13-May 18).

Participants are welcome to bring a simple supper for themselves. No advance preparation is necessary. Each session can be a stand alone experience so come when your schedule allows.
