Introduction In this book you'll learn about Mt.Rushmore. Some things that you will learn about are the people who made it, the four presidents that are carved on it, and the history of Mt. Rushmore. In addition, you will learn about how the great monument was made.

Chapter 1: Who made Mt. Rushmore? Mt.Rushmore was made by Gutzon Borglum and his crew, but Gutzon Borglum was the one who came up with the idea to make Mt.Rushmore and how to make it. Gutzon Borglum was the one who made Mt.Rushmore in 1927 1941 which by my calculations it took about 14 years to make Mt. Rushmore. Gutzon Borglum's son also helped make Mt.Rushmore and his son's name is Lincoln Borglum. This is the person named Gutson Borglum and he is the famous person who came up with the idea to make Mt.Rushmore.

Chapter 2: Why was Mt. Rushmore Made? Mt. Rushmore was made to represent the four presidents on Mt. Rushmore. It was made to attract more people to the Black Hill. Mt. Rushmore was also made as a memorial depicting the United States ideals to make this a great country. Where did Mt. Rushmore get its name? Mt.Rushmore got its name from a special person named Charles E. Rushmore. He was a New York lawyer in 1885. Charles E. Rushmore loved working as a lawyer because he got to help people and he also got to meet the judge. This is a map of which state Mt. Rushmore is in. It is in South Dakota.

Chapter 3: How Mt. Rushmore was made? Over four thousand people made Mt.Rushmore and the person who came up with the idea to make Mt.Rushmore and how to design it was Gutzon Borglum. I think that after Gutzon Borglum was done making Mt.Rushmore that he became famous. The Size of the Face s of Mt. Rushmore Mt. Rushmore is about 5,725 feet high. Isn t that gigantic? Each face is about 60 feet high. That s amazing! Did you know that all of the faces on Mt. Rushmore are Teddy Roosevelt, George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, and last but not least, Abe Lincoln. How Old is Mt. Rushmore? Did you know how old Mt. Rushmore is? If you don t, you re going to find out! Mt. Rushmore is 68 years old. I always thought that Mt. Rushmore was over 100 years old until I researched it. Mt. Rushmore is pretty old isn t it?

Some Tools that they Used His crew used a lot of cool tools. Some tools that he used were harnesses, TNT, pick axes, jack hammers, chisels, and mountain hammers. They had to use a variety of tools to complete Mt. Rushmore. This picture show's some of the tools they used.

Chapter 4: The 4 presidents Abe Lincoln Abe Lincoln was carved in to Mt.Rushmore because he was a very important man in the United States history.abe Lincoln was also carved into Mt. Rushmore because he held the nation together during the civil war. Abe Lincoln had a nickname called honest Abe. A lot of people called him honest Abe because he never lied to anyone and he was also trustful and he was a very honest person. George Washington George Washington was carved in to Mt.Rushmore because he was the very first president. He was also carved into Mt. Rushmore because he was the first president who fought in the civil war in 1830 to help the Indian's. Thomas Jefferson Thomas Jefferson was carved into Mt.Rushmore because he created the Declaration of Independance. He was also chosen to be the 3rd president of the United States of America. That's why Thomas Jefferson was carved into Mt. Rushmore.

Theodore Roosevelt Theodore Roosevelt was carved into Mt.Rushmore because he helped create the Panama Canal in 1904 which led to an increase in transportation of goods. He also owned a national park and understood the importance of preserving the wildlife. Teddy roosevelt first became president in 1901 and was president until 1909. Teddy Roosevelt was the 26th president of the United States of America. that's why Theodore Roosevelt was carved in to Mt.Rushmore. This is the 4 presidents that were chosen to be carved in to Mt.Rushmore From left to right: George Washington, Thomas Jefferson, Teddy Roosevelt, and Abe Lincoln.

Conclusion In this book you have learn about Mt.Rushmore and some fantastic facts that you may have known or didn't know. You also learned about about who made it and why it was made. In addition, you learned about where it is located, and the presidents that were chosen to be carved into it. This is a part of the badlands.

Glossary Cabin something you can stay in for the summer/for vacation. Chisel something they used to make MT.Rushmore that is a really helpful toll sometimes. Jack hammer something they use for construction that is really really loud and they use them on the road's to. Lawyer A lawyer is someone who helps out client's and who works with the judge. Preserving to make something last for a long time.
