22 Week Parish Curriculum THEME: God s plan to save his people from sin (salvation history), how we participate in that plan, and the many ways God helps us in our pilgrimage on earth to heaven through his Word, his law, and his Church. Weeks 1-9 Part I: B.C. : Before Christ Chapters 1-14: The Fall and the first murder. The sin and suffering of mankind. God chooses his people and their leaders. Weeks 10-22 Part II: A.D.: In the Year of Our Lord Chapters 15-30: History changes when Jesus the King comes. Through grace, especially in the Sacraments, we receive the strength to do good. AIM: To help-fourth grade students understand their purpose and goal in life, and to see God s plan in history and society to lead us all to heaven, our true eternal home.

The perfect sacrifice is made present at Mass Week 16: Manna / Communion / True Presence Ch. 23: Bread from Heaven a. The Israelites received manna in the desert and Jesus is the Bread from heaven b. Jesus gives this Bread to us at every Mass c. Jesus is truly and wholly present in the Eucharist

Part II: A.D.: In the Year of Our Lord (Continued) Week 17: Conscience / Sin / Confession Ch. 24: Mistakes along the Way a. We must form our conscience b. There are two types of actual sin: mortal and venial Ch. 25: Turning Back to God a. God desires our repentance b.
