Raymond M. Kuehne papers, 1943-2007 Scope and Content Correspondence, photographs, histories, journal excerpts, autobiographies, reminiscences, newspaper articles, reports, and interviews compiled by Kuehne during his research to write two books on the history of the Church in Germany. See OH 2678 for related material. Biographical Note While serving as a missionary with his wife at the Freiberg Germany Temple, Kuehne became intrigued by the fact that the East German government allowed the Church to build a temple, the only one in a Communist country. After meeting Henry Burkhardt, who had served as mission president in the German Democratic Republic, he began to collect information about post-world War II East German Church history. His interest led him to write the book "Mormonen und Staatsburger: eine dokumentierte Geschichte der Kirche Jesu Christi der Heiligen der Letzten Tage in der DDR." He later published a biography of Henry Burkhardt titled "Henry Burkhardt: ein Leben fur die Kirche Jesu Christi der Heiligen der Letzten Tage in der DDR."
