6 Performance Notes The Children of erusalem was written in the style of an Indian bhaan, a call response devotional song. When I witnessed pilgrims doing their pradakshina (procession) around Mount Arunachala in Tiruvannamalai, South India, it seemed to me that I was witnessing something close to what the procession into erusalem might have been like. There is a keyboard accompaniment provided, but the ideal is to do this song with ust rhythm instruments (perhaps passing out tambourines h drums to the children) a good song leader (or leaders to provide the volume necessary for outdoor singing) calling out the verses. Of course, the verses can be repeated as many times as is necessary to accompany the procession. Cyprian Consiglio, OSB Cam. The Children of erusalem
