The carrier of the Qur an cannot have the same behavior as the one who is not a carrier of the Qur an. This is a big responsibility- to be a muslimah who is a carrier of the Qur an and to be a student of knowledge- more so if one is also teaching. It is just as how the messengers had more responsibilities than others. HE NEEDS TO COMPLETE RECITATION OF THE WHOLE QUR AN IN AN ALLOTTED TIME He needs to guard his recitation, discipline himself and have a daily portion of the recitation of the Qur an. The salaf had different habits with regard to their recitation of the Qur an. Some completed the whole Qur an once in two months- which is 10 pages per day. Others completed it once in a month- one juz per day. Others completed it once in 10 days- 3 juz per day. Everyone did this depending on their heart- more recitation is more training for the heart. One of the sheikhs spoke about the student of knowledge in Mecca- what is the matter with the one who reads once juz and then becomes distracted, looking left and right wanting to talk to someone. This requires one to be patient on the obedience of Allah. Some of the salaf used to complete it in 8 days. The more one is occupied with the Qur an, he will be saved from the sins. :(ﷺ) Prophet In Surah Al Ahzab, Allah specifically addresses the wives of the And remember, that which is recited in your houses of the Verses of Allah and AlHikmah (33:34) To recite the Qur an and ahadith in the home. This will also avert problems in the home. If the tongue is not busy remembering Allah, then it will be busy remembering rather than Allah.!1
Most of the salaf completed the recitation of the Qur an in 7 days- more than 3 juz per day. Some completed it once in 5 days. A lot of them completed it once in 3 days- 10 juz per day and this the maximum one can read. Imagine, how much reward it is. With one letter you get 10 reward, so if one reads then for each letter he will get 10 rewards. There is so much reward -الح########مد هلل رب ال########عامل########ني so shaithan makes extra effort to avert us from the Qur an. Discipline yourself and just do it. Fill yourself with the Qur an. Don t eat too much otherwise you will be tired, lazy and sleepy to read the Qur an. A man came to the Prophet (ﷺ) and said that he can read more Qur an in a day. He asked to recite more until the Prophet (ﷺ) eventually told him that he can read in once in 3 days- if he completed it in less than 3 days, then he could not understand it. Some from the salaf used to have two portions of recitation- one in the day and another one in the night. The one in a higher position needs more recitation because the shaithan will attack him more than others. Some completed the recitation of the whole Qur an between Dhuhr and Asr- this is not an easy time. When you give more time for the Qur an, then Allah will give you more time and better taddabur. Some completed the recitation between Magrib and Isha. This man was also working. Imagine- he was waiting from one prayer to another while reciting Qur an. Some recite in the night, others in the morning after Fajr- find a time that suits you and stick with it. Don t leave your daily portion of the Qur an. Be strong and firm with yourself- it is a means for a great reforming. The house in which the Qur an is recited will not be like the one where it is not recited. The one in which the Qur an is not recited will be like the graveyard. Make your house alive with the Qur an so that the shayatheen will be far away from it and the angels will come. Some in the salaf used to divide the night prayer between the members in the house; i.e., the father would pray while the others slept. Then when he would go to sleep, the next member would wake up and pray- so the whole night, someone would be praying in the home.!2
!!! MANNERS OF THE CARRIER OF THE QUR AN حامل القرآن) CLASS -(آداب #2-4TH MUHARRAM 1438-24TH SEPTEMBER 2017 The best blessing in our life is the Qur an. The carrier of the Qur an needs to allot a daily portion of it and if he misses it then he should be strict with himself and make it up before the next day. It is between you and Allah. HE NEEDS TO GUARD HIS RECITATION IN THE NIGHT!!!!! O you wrapped in garments (i.e. Prophet Muhammad SAW)! Stand (to pray) all night, except a little. Half of it, or a little less than that, Or a little more; and recite the Quran (aloud) in a slow, (pleasant tone and) style. Verily, We shall send down to you a weighty Word (i.e. obligations, legal laws, etc.). Verily, the rising by night (for Tahajjud prayer) is very hard and most potent and good for governing (the soul), and most suitable for (understanding) the Word (of Allah). (Surah Al Muzzamil 73:1-6) The recitation of the Qur an in the night is different than in the morning. There is fewer distractions in the night. It is a special time between you and Allah. So recite more Qur an in the night prayer. May Allah help us. Ameen.!3
Not all of them are alike; a party of the people of the Scripture stand for the right, they recite the Verses of Allah during the hours of the night, prostrating themselves in prayer. They believe in Allah and the Last Day; they enjoin Al-Ma'ruf (Islamic Monotheism, and following Prophet Muhammad SAW) and forbid Al-Munkar (polytheism, disbelief and opposing Prophet Muhammad SAW); and they hasten in (all) good works; and they are among the righteous. (Surah Ale Imran 3:113-114) Surah Ale Imran is about firmness. You need to believe that the Qur an is the word of Allah. This passage mentions that the people of the Book recited in the night prayer and this had an impact on their life. They believed in Allah and the last Day, enjoined good and forbade evil and they raced towards all goodness. They are among the righteous. In Surah Al Furqan, Allah mentions about the ع##########باد ال##########رح##########من (slaves of the Most Merciful). They spend the night in worship and they are in peace with everyone in the morning. When they face vain talk, they turn away from the situation with honor. How you are with your Lord in the night will affect how you are with the creation in the morning. Prayer in the night shows ikhlas- you are fighting your desire for the sake of Allah. It was narrated that Abdullah bin Amr said: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Do not be like so-andso, who used to pray voluntary night prayers then stopped praying voluntary night prayers. (Sunan ibn Majah Book 5, Hadith 1392) The honor of the believer is in the night prayer. You need to start with one rakah and build your night prayer with time. You heart will be gathered in the night prayer. It will be less occupied than in the morning when there are more distractions. Sleep for a while, then wake up for the night prayer. In the beginning wake up for 5 minutes, then slowly slowly build it up. This is a special time between you and Allah.!4
There is no work and everyone is sleeping. It is a protection from riyal (showing off) and other matters that nullify the deed. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "When it is the last third of the night, our Lord, the Blessed, the Superior, descends every night to the heaven of the world and says, 'Is there anyone who invokes Me (demand anything from Me), that I may respond to his invocation; Is there anyone who asks Me for something that I may give (it to) him; Is there anyone who asks My forgiveness that I may forgive him?' (Sahih al- Bukhari 6321) Imagine, the King came down and we are sleeping? We should be emabarassed. He is asking each one of us individually as the questions are in singular form. There is an hour during the night in which no Muslim individual will ask Allah for good in this world and the next without His giving it to him; and that applies to every night. (Sahih Muslim 757 a) This exclusive time is from the beginning of the last third of the night ال##################ل#ي#ل) (ج##################وف till Fajr. We need to ask Allah and make dua to Him. The carrier of the Qur an needs his portion of recitation of the Qur an and night prayer. Start little and build upon it. The more you do, the better it is. We can work faster in the night than in the morning. One should also not stay up the whole night as it can harm oneself. This is disliked in the religion. Although it is more challenging to wake up after sleeping- everyone should do based on their level. If one cannot wake up in the last third of the night, then he can Peay it at the earliest time which is after Isra prayer. Or he can pray it before the fair prayer. Know that whatever the Prophet (ﷺ) told us is good for us. If you wake up just before Fajr to pray qiyaam, you can be more tired than if you wake up in the beginning of the last third, pray and then sleep till fajr.!5
Even a little portion of the Qur an is good in the night. Remember that quality is better than quantity. End your worships with istigfar (seeking forgiveness) so that you will not be proud. The Prophet (ﷺ) said: If anyone prays at night reciting regularly ten verses, he will not be recorded among the negligent; if anyone prays at night and recites a hundred verses, he will be recorded among those who are obedient to Allah; and if anyone prays at night reciting one thousand verses, he will be recorded among those who receive huge rewards. Abu Dawud said: The name of Ibn Hujairah al-asghar is 'Abd Allah b. 'Abd al-rahman b. Hujairah. (Sunan Abi Dawud 1398) Each one should make their own schedule and stick with it. Don t leave it. End with seeking forgiveness. Watch yourself- if you are lazy, be strict with yourself and if you are despairing, then don t lose hope.!6
